Hello All!
Welcome!! I decided to finally get a PTR started as a way to get all my thoughts and ideas in one place and hopefully get some advise for areas of the trip I'm just not sure about yet! We are a family of 5 (plus 1 tag-a-long) all of whom have NEVER been to WDW. Needless to say, I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, and nothing has been booked yet :)

The Cast

Myself: 30-something SAHM to 3 wonderful kiddos. I've been a Disney fan my whole life, but have never been able to execute a trip, although I've started planning several. My challange is going to be keeping the dreams in check and focus on the reality of this trip. In my spare time I enjoy stamping, scrapbooking and general crafting. Although my plans greatly outnumber my finished projects...

DH, aka The Chief: also 30-somemthing and works for our county highway department (plows snow in the winter and repairs roads in the summer). He has also been a volunteer firefighter since high school and is currently the assistant chief. In his spare time (ha!) he helps keep an eye on things at his parent's farm.

DS, aka Little Man: is 4 years old and all boy. He just had his birthday and it's crazy to me that he is no longer a toddler. He is a lot of fun and cracks me up or drives me crazy at any given moment. Currently he goes to "school" two afternoons a week and can't wait until next fall when he goes to 4K every morning.

DD's, aka The Girls or Thing 1 & Thing 2: are 20 months old and will be just over 2 at the time of the trip. They are also a riot and keep us on our toes! It's been a blast watching them develop their personalities and how they interact with each other vs others. I never imagined I would have twins, but God thought it would be a good idea, so we are enjoying the ride!

My Niece, aka Nanny Fanny: is 15 years old and a wonderful, funny, amazing young woman. She is a straight A student and very talented dancer. Although her schedule is crazy busy and missing school and dance isn't generally the best idea, she will be coming with us. I'm sure she will be doing homework on the trip trying to keep up! She has been a huge help to me since Little Man was born and it'll be great having another set of hands along on the trip.

Trip Plans
Right now we are anticipating going sometime this fall, during the free dining promo that will hopefully be announced tomorrow :) The Chief needs to check the dates of the promo against available vacation time at work and hopefully something lines up. We are planning to stay in the All Star Music Family Suites. Unfortunately there aren't many options for the budget minded, large family... I considered AoA, but as awesome as the theming is, we're sticking with ASMu.

We will be driving from Central Wisconsin. It's going to be 24 hours of drive time, so it will be interesting! I enjoy road trips, so I think it'll be fun. The Chief doesn't neccessarily agree with me. But there are no direct flights from our local airport and the thought of getting our circus through multiple airports does not sound fun to me. So, I will be putting together some activity books and other fun things for the kids to do in the car and hopefully we all survive! The plan is to drive straight through on the way down and most likely stop overnight on the way home. I have a feeling The Chief and I will be exhausted and not safe driving all night at that point.

That's all for now... stay tuned to find out our final dates and what we get booked! I also will pull together some more pictures of all of us, because let's face it, as much as we all love the planning and discussing of the trips, it's more fun with pictures of cute kids...

I am so freakin' excited, I can hardly stand it! After spending a LOT of time this morning just trying to get on HOLD at WDW I managed to crack through the server online and started making my reservation that way. I much prefer talking to a person, especially for something like this. But being as I had no luck calling, I decided to do it online and call in a few days just to review everything and make sure I had it all right :) Well, I got to the payment screen online and it wouldn't let me use more than one gift card when making the deposit. Considering I have about half of the trip cost already in $50 gift cards, and plan to do the rest that way, I really didn't want to put it on the credit card. So, I called the "for technical assistance" number on that page and I guess it's some secret back door to the reservations center. I got right in to someone and got it all booked. It's costing a little more than I anticipated, but I'm at the point that I don't really care anymore :goodvibes We are staying at the All-Star Music as I planned, and upgraded to the regular dining plan. We will be there 9/28-10/4. The reservation agent transferred me to the dining desk so I could start making ADR's and I believe I have a few made... we got disconnected before I could get confirmation numbers from her :( I had given her the cc to guarantee them, or whatever they call it, so I'm going to call in a few days to see if they did get made and get the numbers. I tried calling back, but I couldn't get through again (why didn't I write down that magic number!?!?!). Since the agent had confirmed my phone number I was kinda hoping she would call me back, but I have worked in call centers before and know that's not always possible. So anyway, I'm going to go with the assumption that I have some ADR's and start sketching out our park days and see what I can figure out! Stay tuned...

Cute family! Subbing!

Thanks! I think so as well... but I might be a tad bit biased...

If you have signed up for your MDE you can make all your dining plans there:thumbsup2

I thought about that, but I didn't want to make double reservations. Luckily it all got straightened out without much hassle at all!

I'm so excited that there's someone out there interested in following along with our adventure!! :)

I was able to get through to Disney Dining yesterday after dinner and confirm that I did in fact have a few ADR's made (whew). She gave me one of the confirmation numbers and I put it into MDE and all 3 came up! I still have some figuring to do, but here's where I'm at so far...

Sunday (9/28) - we will likely be arriving in Orlando the evening before, and need to figure out if we are going to stay somewhere off property, or get a room only ressie... either way, I am not anticipating anyone being up and at it real early. Would like to make it to MK around lunch time and just wonder around and take in the excitement of being there without rushing around for anything.

Monday (9/29) - EP - We have an ADR at Akershus for lunch at 12:20.

Tuesday (9/30) - AK - Tusker House at 8am.

Wednesday (10/1) - 1st full MK day. Plan to do rope drop and stay through lunch, then head back to the resort for a nap and/or swimming for a few hours. Back to the park for dinner & Wishes.

Thursday (10/2) - HS - Play N Dine at 8am.

Friday (10/3) - MK Day 2

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the next 3 TS meals we have... could do 3 separate ADR's, or I'm also considering something like HDDR Tuesday or Thursday. I'd love to get into 'Ohana or BoG but since I'm a little behind the 8 ball getting things booked, there are not any openings.

So, that's where things are at right now. Next on my list is (more) thinking about the remaining ADR's, and figuring out how we are getting there! We do not own a minivan at this point, although we know it's in our future. But I wasn't necessarily planning to get one by September! Either we need to find someone to let us use theirs, or see if we can find a cheap rental. Or just bite the bullet and buy one. :confused3

Morning Glad you got your ADRs straighten out. Have you thought about doing CP or BoG for lunch? BoG has a FP+ link https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com/ but to get a timing only works when you are at the 60 mark for all FP+s Hope that makes sense

Where are you coming from that you are driving? We are in Canada so flying is better for us not necessirily cheaper just quicker..more time in the park...:goodvibes

For rentals I would check your local rental companies to find out the policies about driiving out of state as it maybe a higher price tag. As for friends that would be awesome if you knew someone who would be willing.

I started a PTR too:scared1: but not sure how to add it to my signature..:confused3

I have considered the BoG FP+ and if I can't get an ADR for dinner by that point I will try that. Actually, that might work better because then we could do Hoop Dee Do & 'Ohana (if I happen upon an opening) Sunday & Friday and BoG for lunch on Wednesday. I should probably go ahead and book HDDR but I'm not sure which day would be better, out first, or our last? We will be at MK both of them, which has parties those nights, so we need to be out by 7 anyway.

As my sister, would say, these are defiantly First World problems!

Well, I decided to go ahead and book HDDR for Friday @ 6:15. I figure it'll be a good send off for the last night! I considered booking it for the first night there, but since we won't be getting to MK until about lunch time, I thought that wouldn't leave us much time there... so, now I'm hounding MDE waiting for an opening at 'Ohana Sunday or Wednesday and will plan on FP+ at BoG one of those days as well.

No other developments, but here's a quick picture from the weekend :)

Nanny had her freshman formal. Yes, I'm biased, but I thought she looked beautiful!

Stay tuned... I'm going to start working on my planning binder (I'm obsessed with binders lately!) and I'll share pictures when I get it finished!

Hi! I'm subbing! Great start so far. DH and I will be at WDW for the same dates.

I love planning binders too. Can't wait to see yours!

Here's what I have done for the binder so far... I need to do tabs for each of the park days, but I'm happy with what I have!!

Cover

General Information (printed from lovelycommotion.com - I think the blog owner is on the DIS, but I have no idea what her "dis name" is!)

For maps and directions, plus I'm hoping to get a good idea of exits or rest areas that would be good places to stop.

Dining and ADR info.

After I get stuff into each tab :rotfl2: and the park days figured out I'll be back to update, but thought I'd share what's there so far!

That is so cool, do you carry it with you though the parks or just take want you need for the day??

I'm planning to use it the next few months to do all our planning and keep track of everything and then bring it with for the trip. But I am going to put each days ADR info and touring plan on an index card to take to the park. I think hauling a binder around would be a bit much. Of course, with everything else we will need to bring with us it might not make that much of a difference!

I'll lead off this update with some new pictures of the kiddos (and myself, but feel free to focus on Little Man!) It was finally nice out yesterday morning and the girls LOVE sidewalk chalk.

(Thing 1 is in the foreground, Thing 2 behind her)

I had a successful stalking of the MDE app and managed to snag an ADR for 'Ohana our first night there!!! squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! I believe I did actually "squee" out loud and The Chief thought I had totally lost my mind :) It's for 5pm and I wish it was a little later, but if nothing else opens up I'm good with leaving that the way it is. With it being a party night, I think it would be nicer to stay at MK another hour or so, then head to the Poly, but whatever.

Here are a couple more pages from my planning binder. These are all printed from the Lovely Commotion blog, and I love them :) If it looks like something is chopped off on the printables it’s because I didn’t fit them to the page before printing them…the files are perfect, I screwed them up. I figure I will have plenty of scratch outs and rewrites and will probably need to reprint them soon anyway, so for now they are as they are.

Finally, I'm starting to look at our day by day agendas and touring plans. This is when I get overwhelmed, because I basically have no idea how long to allot for things and what generally, realistically works and what doesn’t. So, going off of EasyWDW's recommendations, here's what I'm thinking for our day at EP...

Monday, September 29th
Breakfast - in the room
Arrive at EP between 8:15-8:30
Soarin'
Livin' with the Land
Nemo
Turtle Talk with Crush (FP+)
Living Seas
Journey into Imagination
Spaceship Earth (FP+)
Test Track (FP+)
Lunch - at Akershus 12:20
Explore World Showcase - probably riding Gran Fiesta, otherwise just wondering from country to country, exploring and eating! F&W will be going on, so I anticipate we will just sample all kinds of yummy stuff through the afternoon then head back to the resort to rest, swim, etc. I don't think think we'll need much in the way of dinner after eating our way around the world so I'll plan on light snacky things at the resort.

I'm not sure if it's practical to think we can do all those things before lunch? Otherwise I think it would work to book FP+ for Test Track after lunch and it wouldn't be too much back tracking. I need to do more research and figure out when "ideal" times for those FP+'s will be.

That’s all for now, stay tuned as I start working out the rest of our days!

Thanks for much for the info for the printables:goodvibes I jsut printed them off for our trip...
