'There once was a girl...' - We leave today! (#56)

So, as we continued on in the quest to watch every single Disney movie known to man, we happened upon The Many Adventures in the very back corner of a closet. Like it was hiding from us or something.

We grabbed some popcorn, and gladly got comfortable while we watch Pooh and his friends get into all kinds of...adventures.

Now this movie is a compiling of different featurettes of Winnie the Pooh and gang. Walt himself thought it was a better idea to do shorts with Pooh, to give the general public time to make friends and start to love him. But eventually, a few of these were compiled and made into one movie. The three are totally seperate, yet blend flawlessly together.

(By the way, I am not a Pooh fanatic. That little snipet of information was given at the start of the movie).

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree

So, first we have Pooh and the bees. They start out with that funny, quirky line about Pooh living under the name of Sanders. And by that they mean there was a sign that said 'Sanders', and he lived underneath it. Hahah. I just love that.

I love how determined Pooh is to get that honey! And he sang one of my all time favourite Disney songs. I first came across it when I was a little one watching a tape about Disneyland. They had all the characters and kids and they sang different songs. I very much remember Pooh singing 'Rumbly in my Tumbly'. It's just a mix of nostalgia and happiness that makes me love it so much, I think.

Hum dum de dum, hum dum de dum
I'm so rumbly in my tumbly
Time to munch an early luncheon
Time for something sweet!

:goodvibes Well, anyway. Pooh tries to get some honey from a bee hive because he's out of his own. Unfortunately, he fails miserably and enlists the help of Christopher Robin (see Darby, Christopher Robin is obviously superior. :snooty:). The little pooh bear comes up with the idea to tie a balloon to himself, roll in mud, and float up to the bee hive pretending to be a little storm cloud. I just think this part is SO CUTE. Props to A.A Milne for coming up with it!

Well, he fails. Poor Pooh. A little while later he decides to visit Rabbit to see if he has any honey to spare, which he does, but he's totally rude about giving it up. I know Rabbit's a boy, but he sure does remind me of some little old lady who never wants any company!

So Pooh eats all of Rabbit's honey, and then when it's time to leave....yeah. He's stuck. He has to stay stuck for a few days until finally he has slimmed down enough to get..un-stuck. Rabbit pushes really hard from behind and Pooh goes flying! Up.

Up. Up. Stuck. In a tree. In a beehive. But that's okay for Pooh. Because he can eat all the honey he wants! :)

I thought it was absolutely adorable, but not my favourite of the three. My favourite is the second little short they show.

Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day

Ah, yes. THE RIDE! I was watching this, and my mind was just going 'hm, that looks familiar' or 'have I seen that somewhere before'? OF COURSE. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in fantasyland!

Uhm, anyhoo. Happy Windsday. Yes, Pooh goes around wishing everyone a Happy Windsday. Because it's windy. And Piglet flies up up up like a kite. Owls house (in a tree, duh) get's blown over, so Eeyore goes on the hunt to find him a new place to live. (Awww, how sweet!).

Anyway, during the night Pooh starts to hear some sounds. He gets a knock on the door, and...well, you've seen this scene! Tigger comes in and knocks Pooh over, and the little kid and me comes out. It's so cute.

The wonderful thing about tiggers
Is tiggers are wonderful things!
Their tops are made out of rubber;
Their bottoms are made out of springs!
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy,
Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!
But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is
I'm the only one!

Tee eye double guh er. :goodvibes

Before Tigger leaves though, he warns Pooh that Heffalumps and Woozles love to steal honey. YEP. More ride stuff! You all know this scene, right? So Pooh has a crazy, trippy nightmare ala Dumbo. ;)

Meanwhile, it has started to rain and Piglet is trapped inside his house with the water rising! He writes a message in a bottle before being swept away in the flood atop a chair. Pooh is also swept away while being stuck in a honeypot.

Christopher Robin gets the note, and lol, 'Help P-p-piglet! (Me)' That's just super. Well, Pooh saves Piglet, and later Piglet saves Pooh and, Eeyore decides that Owl should live in Piglet's tree, and they all have a hero party.

I really think that's the best one. But this next one is really adorable too.

Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too

I don' tremember this one as well, even though I only watched this movie a week or so ago. I thought it was adorable, but still got that whole 'old mean granny' vibe from Rabbit.

Basically, everyone is tired of Tigger jumping on them, so Rabbit decides that they should lose Tigger out in the woods, and maybe that will make him more humble and...non-jumpy. It doesn't work. Rabbit ends up getting even more lost, and TIGGER (of all people) saves him! How's that for a lesson?

Then later Tigger and Roo are hopping along, but they jump too high and get stuck in a tree. Tigger is scared-d-d. Eventually they all decide that they'd rather have happy, jumpy Tigger, and Tigger jumps down, and then teaches Rabbit how to hop.

It's got a really nice lesson in it, I think more than the others even do.

All in all (sorry this post is longggggg) I absolutely adored this movie! I even got the book from the library, just because I wanted to hear more about Pooh MIS-adventures. Lol.

I highly reccommend that each and everyone one of you watch it! It's classic, funny, sweet, cute, and quirky all rolled into one. It makes me love pooh (and piglet, too!) even more. :goodvibes

Should I admit that I almost didn't write this section tonight? I guess I'm just pretty tired. Fortunately for all of my faithful readers (lol *crickets*) I don't like when people stop updating their TRs and only come back with excuses. I understand, but I still don't like it!

I finally decided to get to posting some more of my plans. These are still kind of up in the air. No, I'm not joking. My MOTHER still isn't set on some of the ADRs.

Monday September 6, 2009 - Okay, there were going to be two options for this morning. If we wake up early, we were going to go to AK, come back midday and rest, then go to MK EMH and have dinner at the Plaza. If we didn't wake up early, we would just leisurely stroll into MK and try to last til midnight, having lunch at Crystal Palace. Yes, that would be past tense.

We finally found a 10 AM Chef Mickey's reservation, so we're stuck on certain plans for the day, finally. So here are the plans!

Wake up at about 7 (Is that reasonable for a 10 ADR?) or so. Hopefully that won't be TOO hard. Catch a bus over to MK (if we're there early enough, we'd love to stop and watch the rope drop show) and then board the resort monorail. Check in, take plate picture, eat, take more pictures, eat some more, etc.

We've been to Chef Mickey's for dinner a couple times. When I was 9 I loved it, when we went again when I was 15...I didn't love it so much. We were really tired and I just wasn't feeling it, plus the food was mediocre.

But hey, you can't screw up scrambled eggs right? Also, I hope Laura likes the characters! I know some little ones are kind of intimidated by them at first (especially the furry ones). So let's cross our fingers that she's brave!

Then back to MK for the rest of the day. I'm unsure right now if we're take a midday break. I want to say no, because we might not get into the park til noon, but who knows? Hopefully Laura can rest in the stroller so she won't be too fussy later on.

Otherwise, I don't plan more than this. I have no idea what ride we will go on first. I could try to make a guess, but most likely it will be the first thing we see with a low wait, or the first thing Laura catches her eye on. I think it's silly to make a list of when you will ride certain rides. Especially when you've been as much as us.

I think we'll most likely eat lunch or dinner at one of our favourite CS restaurants, Pecos Bills. It's kind of a tradition for me and my mom to split their chicken wraps. We've been doing it since my first trip when I was only 8.

We might last til midnight, we might last close to midnight, we might not last anywhere near midnight. Who knows? Who cares? We have 10 days, haha.

Monday September 7, 2009 - Since we'll have probably stayed up so late the night before, I'm taking it easy this morning.

It's labor day, and I figure that Epcot can pack the most amount of people in it without feeling super crowded. Touringplans has it as the best park too, so double yay.

I don't want to make it to rope drop or anything like that. We'll just get there when we get there.

My mom would love for Laura to ride Spaceship Earth first, but I remember being 8 and absolutely NOT liking the feeling of going backwards in the dark. I'm not saying she shouldn't ride it at all, just not the first ride of the day. I don't want her scared of things, ya know?

Anyways, not really any more plans. We'll probably do future world mostly, and a bit of the WS. I have ADRs at Akershus for lunch (LJ lovesss Ariel, remember?) but I'm not sure if we're going to cancel is or not. We have a 1900 Park Fare reservation on another night, so I don't know. If we do cancel it, I'm making a Coral Reef lunch reservation. I'd love to go there.

We'll probably leave the park around 6 or 7 and head to DTD. I love to shop, and I love Wolfgang Puck Express. Man, if we had one of these near my house, I wouldn't eat anywhere else, I swear! Except for maybe Earl of Sandwich...

We'll probably be in bed early this night, because the next morning is....

I'll finish this in another section in the morning. I'm really tired!

Okay, I'm trying not to get discouraged by nobody reading this.
1) because I don't like people who whine about not getting attention
2) because I read a lot of PTRs but I don't comment

So hopefully my readers are out there...just being silent. I will continue on though! This might only be 3 pages, but it has a lot of updates. Hopefully it will help...someone.

Also, I feel like crap. Seriously, my nose is all stuffy, I'm coughing, and sneezing a ton. This is bad because I go back to school on Monday (and I don't want to feel like crap there or spread it to other people) and my trip is only two weeks away. I know that's plenty of time to get over it, but I don't want to spread it to my family. Also, I know it will mess up your inner ear or whatever, which I hope will not affect the plane ride.

Uhm, speaking of that, I'm a little worried about Laura. For my first plane ride I was 15 and almost in tears because of my ears. At 15! Does anyone have any ideas to help her? I know she will not keep the earplanes in as she'll fiddle with them. I've heard orange juice, but why orange juice?

Anyways, plans. Yeah.

Tuesday September 8, 2009 - DHS day. Yes, DHS. I think embracing change is a good thing, even though the word 'MGM' holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It also happens to be the acronym for the department of government my mom works in, so that made it an easy transition.

Yeah, again, I don't have many more plans. We'll need to get up early like I said in my last update, because of TSM. Being at rope drop and running to the ride is pretty much the only way to get fastpasses at a decent time and/or ride it without waiting for 50,000 minutes.

Other than that, I want to ride ToT (preferable twice), see Beauty and the Beast, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and MuppetVision 3D. Maybe Indiana Jones. Maybe ride Startours (I don't *get* it but it's fun.) Definitely draw in the animation studio. Uhm, I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch.

We're avoiding fantasmic! this trip. I don't think Laura will be able to sit/stand waiting for it, and I'm not sure if she'd be able to hold her attention.

I have 50's PrimeTime scheduled for lunch. I really *am* going to go this trip! Me and my mom went back in '01 but we haven't been back since, even though we've scheduled it pretty much every trip.

That night we'll probably spend at MK. I prefer to go to DHS and AK during the day, and I love to see MK and Epcot at night.

Wednesday September 9, 2009 - Animal Kingdom! I know this day will be a little tiring for everyone, but I hope the way I've scheduled it will help a bit.

Of course I want to get up early early early. IMO, that's the only way to really see the animals well, especially in September. When it gets hotter they deicde it's time to go back to sleep or something, and you don't really get to see them.

So, I just want to get there and hopefully run back for Safari FPs, and maybe ride it once if the wait time isn't too much. I'm not a fan of EE, so we won't bother with that. My must sees are Kali, FOTLK, FOW, the trails, and the petting zoo for Laura (which we should also do early).

We then have a lunch reservation at one of the places I'm most looking forward too. Tusker House. It's kind of like Boma, which I've always wanted to go to, but conveniently located inside the park. :goodvibes They also have a lot of exotic-y, vegetarian, and yummy looking dishes. Plus, some normal stuff for Laura and us if we're not feeling adventurous. I hope this will give us a nice chunk of time in the cool a/c and maybe we'll catch a second wind. I have it scheduled at 1:00, so we get reserved seating in the Nemo show.

I love this show. People say they don't like the puppets, but I think it gives it pizazz. Anyway, I'm also counting on this to let us rest a bit, even though I know the seats aren't comfy at all.

AK has EMH this night, so hopefully...just maybe, we'll last til 8. I know it might make the park a bit more crowded, but hopefully not TOO much.

Okay, hm, my next update will probably be more pictures of pre-trip thingies. :)

I'm Here!!! I am really enjoying your PTR! You have a great writing style...maybe English or Journalism should be your major...

Anyway, I have a seldom read PTR too...maybe our TR's will have more followers..LOL

Have a great trip!

Thanks for reading! My major is actually psychology with a minor in sociology, but I get that whole 'you should major in journalism' thing a lot. The thing is, structured writing makes me so frusterated. I just can't brainstorm and I feel under so much pressure! I like writing trip reports and things like that because it's so freestyle. Whatever pops into my head I just type onto the screen. But thanks! :goodvibes

I think more people post and read TRs than they do PTRs, so I'm not too worried about it. Besides, I think this is mostly for me to let out some of my excitement and just share it with others!

(I'm definitely going to go check your PTR out. :))

13 days! It's so close now.

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate you reading it! I'm starting on the next update soon. :)

So no doubt you guys are wondering how a freshman in college could go to Disney. Well, you see, I'm just going to miss 3 classes. There's nothing I can do about it.

I'm not really too worried, because if you've ever been to college, you know that the teacher don't really fuss about absences like in high school. Kids walk in and out pretty much when they want to, and nobody notices.

My Humanities through the Arts teacher doesn't care. In fact, she told me that if I missed a vacation with my family in favour for a class, then I needed to get a reality check and a life. Lol! I think I'll like her.

My General Psychology teacher doesn't even take role. My english teacher, well, she says you should miss more than 3 classes. Fortunately, I'll only be missing 3, so hopefully I won't get sick during the semester. I know a lot of teachers who have these kind of 'rules' but loosen up a bit as the semester goes on.

I also have an online class, but I don't think that will be a problem.

So as of now I have emailed all of my teachers informing them of my soon absence, and I'm hoping for responses soon.

(By the way, today was the first day of class. So only 5 more days of class left til Disney!) (11 actual days left!)

Sorry I didn't update on Wednesday. I wasn't particularly busy, I just wasn't sure what to share with you guys. I'm not sure now either, but this is what's going on.

This weekend me and my mom are going shopping, organize all of our stuff, and pack. I can't wait! This is actually one of my favourite parts of going on vacation, ya know? All of the shopping and packing and anticipation. Knowing your vacation is so close, yet being tortured for a few more days in the real world.

Speaking of that, SEVEN DAYS LEFT!!! It's kind of a shocker that it's this close. For the last week I've been so wrapped up in school stuff, and my mind just hasn't been focused on Disney. I hope to have a weekend mostly focused on Disney, yet I'm not going to ignore my homework either. I actually just finished writing my pop culture rough draft, so that's one down, 2 to go. I have to read some articles on Freud and write an essay on them. No big deal really. ANYWAY, you guys don't want to hear about that.

OH, but before I change the subject. I've contacted all of my teachers about it, and they all seem...okie dokie. I'm sure they aren't jumping off the walls happy for me, but it shouldn't be a problem. Most of them just want me to meet with them when I get back, which is surprising, since I was totally ready to do everything ahead of time.

Anyway (this was just supposed to be a short update, LOL) like I was saying. This weekend will be good for pre-Disney stuff. So, instead of giving some crappy update now (:teeth:), I'll just wait and post all the good stuff on Monday. I'm going to TRY and draft up the last part of our plans, and post them next week as well.

Okay, I hope everyone reading this has a super fantastic weekend, I know I will! :goodvibes

You are very lucky you have kind teachers :)

The college I went to was a small catholic private school and they did take role and have strick rules on missing classes so you are super duper lucky cuz there is no way that I could have ever missed college like that for a vacation!! Hopefully you wont have a ton of work to do during the trip or when you get back!!

ps..don't kid yourself, don't bring books, you won't look at them and then it's just extra weight. My friend found that out the hard way when we went on spring break in FL a few years back and had to pay for overweight bags because of her heavy books she didn't use!

Can't wait to read more!

I know I am. I'm very very happy that my teachers have such a relaxed attendance policy. Actually, I thought most (public) colleges were like that!

You're probably right about the books. I have to take SOMETHING to read for the flights, so I figure I'll take my history book. I know I have a test 5 days after I come back, and I have over 150 pages to read in it, so I really should study that one. I'm not worried about the size though, because it's about the size of a paperback Harry Potter novel (I can't find a better comparison). I'm actually posting pictures of it along with all the things we bought last night and today.

It's better than reading a People or Seventeen, at least!

Okay, sorry I didn't update Monday! I was trying to study and read as much as I could. I'll upload some picture from the weekend tonight and try to get them posted.

Two days!

Have a safe and fun trip! Take lots of pictures to make us jealous... uh I mean to tide us over until our trips!

Okay, so I was a BADDD pre-trip reporter this week. I was a good student though! Does that ease the pain of my lack of packing update?

I really did mean to upload the pictures the other night and post them, but alas, I was either studying or fixing my park plans or sleeping or you know. Excuses excuses.

SO, I am upupup this morning and I WOULD upload the packing pictures and post them today, but....I might have packed the USB cord. :rolleyes1SORRY.

But come on, it's not like you were at the edge of your seat anyway, right? I'm sure if you're on this board, you've packed for Disney many many times before.

Oh, and the things we bought last weekend. Basically it was just some cute Disney toys we found for Laura (like a Halloween Mickey coloring book, little Winnie the Pooh putty, etc) And last minute things like toothpaste, deoderant, hand sanitizer, sunblock, etc. Picture it in your mind!

Then we dragged the luggage out, smushed everything in, sat on it, and zipped it up. Well, okay, we folded things neatly first. But whatever, that's not the important part.

OH, and I wanted to show you these, but alas. I have the cutesttt lime green official DIS tags. They're from that woman who used to sale DIS shirts, tags, pins, etc. She shut down though, unfortunately. Anyway, I adore these tags and they make my luggage easy to spot.

I also made a little LGMHPC thing and safety pinned it to my vera bradley bag. It's just simple and says 'Babypiglet'. SO, if you see me, don't be afraid of my nutso family, and just come say helllo.

What else...OH LOL. Yesterday we were talking in English about my second essay, and it's supposed to be about American Identity. A personal narritive. Anyway, we were openly brainstorming ideas and my professor goes 'just give me the first thing that pops into your head when you think 'america'' And some LOUDLY blurts out 'Mickey Mouse!'. And it wasn't even me! So now we can all feel super patriotic at the parks, haha.

Hm, I'm not sure what else to discuss. I think I've pretty much summed this sucker up. I was hoping to do a little movie review of Snow White (it's my favouriteeee!) but I don't really feel like it right now, haha. I'm sure you guys won't miss it. Maybe I'll include it in my trip report.

Speaking of trip report, I will try and start it soon after I get back. I'm hoping something funny will happen on my trip that will make for a great title, but if that's not the case, does anyone have any ideas?

Anyway, our plane leaves at 3:30pm in case you forgot. That's about 7 hours from now. I have a pretty big day planned today, if you remember from day one of my park plans. I'm about to go take a shower then pack all the last minute things (brush, chargers, hair stuff, etc) and make breakfast.

Unfortunately it's raining here (was storming earlier) but that should be cleared up by our flight.

I AM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED! Talk to you guys later! :goodvibes
