I'm still pretty new here & haven't posted often, but if anyone recalls my hubby was in a car accident last month, hit by an uninsured driver. AND my 10 yr old has started orthodontics. Cha-ching!

Well it comes in 3's. My hubby needs major surgery pretty fast. WHICH could possibly have been avoided if he'd gone to the dr sooner. I won't even tell you how many times I begged him to go, telling him the end result if he didn't would be pretty bad.

So now -- even with insurance -- it will be 1000's of dollars out of our pocket AND he will be off work 3-4 months (he's a welder, I think if he had a desk job it would be less). I could just scream. By the time I get back to Disney someone will have to push me around in my wheelchair!

I feel like the time I am able to afford any vacation I will be in a wheelchair:rotfl2: I know how you feel! I feel like everytime I take one step forward its three steps back! Is the surgery due to the accident?
I was once hit by an uninsured motorist (and he was drunk). I didn't sustain any injuries, and he actually went to jail for a couple years because it was not his first offense. Then about two years after the accident I opened a letter in the mail and there was a check for my deductible from when I had to pay for my car repairs.

Good luck to your husband and his surgery

No, the surgery is because of a medical condition he's had for a looooong time -- there is no cure, but after his last surgery 4 years ago he was told to have an annual check up, endoscopy & barium swallow. He did none of the above & all it did was progress to a point that this surgery is his only option. Darn men :(

Michelle-I am a stone's throw away from you. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Hopefully your DH will get through surgery safely. Good luck to you and your family.

I can sympathize.

We had a very tough July/August that has crept into September and will creep into October and then Christmas is just around the corner.

Hang in there. You are in good company. Prayers for you and your husband that the surgery will go well.

Race you in Disney when we are in our wheelchairs?? :lmao:

LOL - you're on!!!

OP, i know JUST how you feel. DH left his job of almost 22 years, for what he thought was his "dream job". in reality, however, it's just a nightmare. he's now got carpal tunnel, constant pain in both feet, and anxiety. oh, and he may need knee surgery, if his arthritis panel is negative.

*sigh* not only are we living on less money, but, if he has surgery, we'll be living on HALF of that. to complicate matters even more (doesn't seem like that should be possible, lol), DD14's HS marching band has been invited to perform during the halftime show at the 2013 sugar bowl in NOLA, which means $1500 to send her and me. DH can't even go, because he won't have enough comp time by then. when it rains, it pours. i guess we just have to learn to dance in the rain.

We've been living in the deluge for awhile, and I'm honestly trying to find the humor in it.

Four weeks ago was the first day of school, and we are the definition of busy. BF works two jobs, we are both in school full time, then we have the kid with all of her stuff ... we're exhausted, all the time, lol. So, anyways, on the first day of school, our house got struck by lightning (not really any major damage, I think it struck our cable box only). Scared me to death. The next week, TS Isaac came through, which pretty much missed us ... or so I thought, until I went into my bf's "man cave" and there was a hole in our roof. So many signs that this is not our forever home, lol

Again, I'm trying to find the humor in it all. BF's second job has called and told him not to worry about coming in every shift but one in the past two weeks. It's just dead, and not worth it ... :rolleyes2

Hugs ... remember, it could always be worse. That's what I try to remind myself. And honestly, if I was reading my life as a book, I'd hope that there was some sort of humor coming ... we've earned it.

Oh no! I read your original post and hoped things were turning around for the better. So sorry to hear about your husband's surgery. One of the things to remember about all those medical bills is that hospitals are usually pretty lenient letting people pay their bills back on a schedule they can afford or at least the one I worked for was.

As a wheelchair user, I wasn't offended at all by the comment but I just wanted to tease right back! I always feel badly for all the able bodied people getting exhausted walking around Disney while I am comfortably seated. Well, except for the monorail ramps - I get quite a work out there. :rotfl2:
However, I truly hope that good things come your way and you're back in Disney sooner than you think!

Sorry, Michelle -- I didn't say that to be mean or disrespectful at all -- I wasn't thinking (not the first time!!). And yes, we've had hospital bills before (again, all his) & they are really good about payment plans. But the bills together with him not working for a few months = sadness for our bank account :(

Momof1 -- Argh!! That stinks!! My son has a chance to go to AZ through school -- but it's $900-$1000 -- ugh!! Thankfully he's not TOO disappointed he won't be going (it's not just the money though - the thought of him that far away, without me -- doesn't make me smile AT ALL) but I told him I'd consider the trip to MN for German class. It's GOT to be cheaper than $900 -- & how fun, they stay in a "German village" - speaking German only, eating German food & doing German type stuff. But still -- it will cost SOMETHING. And something is more than we can afford right now.

Regina - you have a great outlook!! We've had water in our basement & that is no fun at all :(

We just keep plugging away -- every day --- it CAN always be worse so I am grateful for what I do have :)

Michelle

Oh Michelle - I was just giving you a hard time! :rotfl2: I'm not sensitive at all about being in a wheelchair. Just wanted to remind you that the view of Disney is still great no matter where you are seeing it from.

I'm so grateful we have this board to share and vent problems! Remind yourself that "Attitude is everything". You'll get through this and it will pass. I'll say a prayer that your husband recovers quickly and money worries find a way of working themselves out!
