WOW ... can't wait to see you all. It will be so nice to have so many friends with me next Sunday and Monday!!!!!!

Everybody have safe travels and I'll see you soon!!!!

We are traveling with our children ages 4 1/2 & 7 this November and starting off by staying at the Yacht Club. Any recommendations on a nice room location for garden view? The resort looks huge.

Okay, no one else has chimed in on this so here are my thoughts (for what they are worth). Second or third floor, gazebo view, close to the secret entrance Now when you walk from the lobby to the room for the first time you will think it is a really long walk, but when you start using that side door to slip out to go to the dock to catch the boat or head over to SAB you will realize what a true time-saver it is. Using the second or third floor allows for the use of the stairs and not the elevator which can be much faster when going down (I am too lazy to walk back up them). It does get to be a walk going back to the lobby to catch the bus but after the first day you are there, you really do get over it and it isn't that bad. That first time you go to the room though, you feel like you are walking forever. Now if you have ever stayed at POR and walked back to one of the remote bus stops, or walk back to the lobby when staying in a mansion, this walk at the YC is nothing in comparison, trust me on that. So, long answer short, ask for gazebo view, second or third floor. IMHO

We'll be there at the YC right after Thanksgiving. It's the best time to be at the WORLD and at the BC/YC. The Christmas decorations there cannot be beat (other than the Gingerbread house at the GF, sorry TeenaS).

One week from today we'll be checking into the YC rather than getting ready to go back to work - can't wait!!!! Right now I don't have a room request we have booked a garden view room - I understand all have full balconies which would be our main request as my mom loves this feature. Is this correct or do I need to put this on the request? Otherwise I'm just going to ask for high floor to hope for a better view - any other suggestions? Thanks so much we are very very excited!!!

Bella, my understanding from what little I've picked up off this board over the years is that at the YC the full balcony is standard with all the rooms so don't worry about it. For the GV, when you look at their locations, I can't imagine there being one without a balcony so I would just focus on having a great time with your mom.

We need to start a poll for people that see both the gingerbread house at the GF and the gingerbread/chocolate carousel at the BC. I personally think the delicate chocolate work on the horses on the carousel blow the gingerbread house out of the water. And the gingerbread itself ... I like the BC recipe (old German recipe) versus the recipe used at the GF. As far as the actual lobby decorations, I have to give the edge to Wilderness Lodge and GF. But I still say our carousel beats all the actual gingerbread/chocolate creations at the other resorts.

Can't say it's an unbiased opinion either can we :)?

I guess that's why I like coming down to the WORLD at that time of the year. So much to see and do. And you can't beat just being a short walk or boat ride away from the Osborne Lights at DHS.

Sorry though, I really do like the BC lobby and the train display at the YC but that Gingerbread House in the GF is just something special to behold. Can't say I have ever tried either of their shingles though. Just don't get me into a discussion of the one on the Disney Fantasy

I saw that one too and the one on the Magic.

Keith ... when you are there this year, buy one of the shingle cookies from each resort. Very different!! I'm not a gingerbread fan but I love the recipe the BC uses.

I totally agree. I love the carousel. I also love the train at the Yacht Club and how they incorporate all the spots at the resort into the little village. WL is my favorite Christmas resort by far. I make it a point to go there at least once a trip. The decorations are beautiful and you feel like you will walk out of the resort into a raging snowstorm. Such a great ski mountain lodge feeling! We love the GF and I always snag a shingle (or two!) when I'm there but it's not at the top of my list. If I remember correctly I also got some wonderful peppermint bark there as well. The holiday's are just so special and amazing down there!! Jay

FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!

I can't believe it's practically here, and as Murphy's Law predicted, life threw us a monkey wrench this weekend. Many of you recall that we lost one of our cats, Henry right after Christmas. It was fast, and he was too young, and I'm still not over it. Well, on Friday, his sister, Grace started getting very, very sick, and it was somewhat touch-and-go all weekend. She seems to be recovering as of last night, and she has a vet appointment in a few hours to verify, but holy cow, I was seriously having the talk with DP about how much money we'd actually loose if we pulled out at this point, and I think it would be a lot. My fingers are heavily crossed that she does well at the vet this morning, so we can get back to our regularly scheduled planning. I'm a nervous pre-vacationer as it is (will we forget something, will the house burn down while we're gone, will the resort loose our reservations, will the lines be too long etc.), and I had firm plans of what was supposed to get done this weekend, and we spent the whole weekend with Grace, resulting in me now running around like crazy trying to get things ready.
Keep Grace in your thoughts and prayers and I do plan to see many of you this weekend!

I'm at 40 days!!!! We will be back at the Beach Club for our second stay. We thought we would be trying a different resort this time and we were even booked at the WL....twice. But, we just couldn't. We got depressed every time we thought about the Beach Club so we switched our reservation.

I think I'm looking forward to the short and beautiful walk to Epcot and Stormalong Bay. Those are my favorites. And, I'm looking forward to trying Hurricane Hannah's this time and going back to the Cape May Seafood Buffet. We have a garden view so I'm hoping to be facing the lake around the courtyard. September can't come fast enough for me.

Does anyone know when the September 20-27 "movies under the stars" list will be posted?

Wedding gazebo view is amazing :thumbsup2
My apologies in advance for going off topic... but I had to come to an appreciative audience with this thought...

I've had one heck of a weekend with work. We've been working through a major project and while many people have been working harder through the weekend than I, my weekend has been filled with hourly stress-filled phone calls that finally came down to a positive resolution just over an hour ago. For the first time this weekend I've been able to breathe a sigh of relief and relax.

So as my thoughts have relaxed, I've fast forwarded to where I'll be one week from now, and I realized that exactly one week from now, we'll just be finishing up a delicious dinner at Narcoosees and soon Wishes will start.

Come on 7 days - I can wait to pass you by.:banana::banana:
Glad work had a positive outcome and has now calmed down :) More than a wee bit jealous of yours (and all those going soon) countdowns:lmao: Have a brilliant time. Cant wait for the TR and photos :goodvibes
Janet - glad you got through your working weekend! It is hard that work gets in the way of life sometimes! Your one week from now sounds terrific though.

One week from tonight my mom and I will be spending an evening at AK for a couple of hours after a rest from daytime activities at MK. I am excited to spend time with my mom at Disney!

Rebecca
Sounds wonderful :)Enjoy every moment.

At Yacht Club full balcony is virtually guaranteed (only 1 or 2 rooms in whole resort without full balcony) so I would make high floor my main request :goodvibes

Usually the activites schedule comes out at the beginning of each month.

Safe travels to all of you going to BC/YC soon. Hope you have a wonderful time :goodvibes

All the talk of gingerbread houses and horses and carosuels has me wanting to visit at Christmastime more than ever! Maybe someday it will happen :goodvibes

We were also booked at the VWL-studio. I switched from BC when RO discounts came out and BC didn't have any standard rooms available. I was never thrilled, so I kept checking the Disney website and finally last Wed., a room popped up. I called and moved back to BC and within a half hour the rooms with RO discounts at BC were gone! So happy to be here this Dec. This will be our first trip to BC. It looks beautiful and I love the location. :santa:

Poor Grace... get well soon. Hopefully, your trip goes smoothly from here on out. Do you have a family member or friend who can take care of Grace when you are gone?

BC or BCV? opinions please. looking at next June. It looks like we can get a 1br villa for less than a 1BRCL. Difference in location to everything? Any other info would be great too!
TIAprincess:

The temporary lounge is in the Presidential Suite and the space is the living room, foyer and dining room ... it does not use the bedrooms of course... and it is actually more spread out and larger than the old lounge that is being totally enlarged and renovated. And the view is so beautiful. Only changes are the coffee machines. I would not hesitate to stay there while the lounge is in the Presidential Suite and in my personal opinion it is a plus to sit in there for breakfast and look out and see the view. Honestly, if I had a choice of staying there before the lounge was moved to the Presidential Suite or now, I'd pick now. Guess it's all a personal choice.

The new lounge will be loads bigger than before.

We have CMs with laptops up there ready to assist guests and a small room off the Presidential Suite where CMs can assist you also.

The food/drinks are the same ... only difference that I saw is the huge coffee machine.

Hope this helps anybody that is struggling with staying club level. I can only give you my personal opinion and I find the Presidential Suite better than the old lounge size wise and view wise.

As far as when it will be done, I really have not heard. They are moving fast though.

Thank you very much, that sounds positive. I have only stayed at the BC once before in 2010 but never CL.

I can't imagine its going to be that bad. Different? Yup. Am I looking forward to that? Nope. But I think everyone will just have to determine what exactly it is that makes them want to stay CL in the first place. For me, I love the convenience of having breakfast and very early coffee available right down the hall, which isn't going to change. My adult kids love the beverages in the evening and the late night snacks. Most importantly for me, I absolutely love the CM service that is provided without ever having to deal with concierge in the lobby or the front desk. Over the years I have utilized them more and more, not so much with pre-planning (we all love to do that ourselves!), but for everyday service like help with tickets, questions about my bill, package delivery, room issues, etc. They are so helpful, so pleasant, and so QUICK with responses to my questions and problems. That service isn't going to change with the refurb either. As much as I'm not looking forward to having things be different, having less room in the temporary lounge, or a different configuration of things isn't a deal breaker for me.

That being said, I can understand why some people might want to pass on it for now, and wait for another stay to see what the heck the lounge and rooms are going to look like. I just can't imagine it! When I'm there next week, I promise to take lots of pics and share my opinion. I was initially very excited about the chance to see the Presidential Suite, and even though I'm a little wary of the set up, I still can't wait to get there!:goodvibes

:thumbsup2

I appreciate the response, some very good points.

page 194-197

We are staying at BC Club Level beginning 8/14. Would the refurbishment on the rooms be going on then? Is the refurb of the lounge going to disrupt the service or make it less "magical?"

Just wondering...

So you are checking in 3 days from now? Although we have not been privy to any of the timetable details, I think they will still be working on the lounge and extremely unlikely that work on the rooms will be starting at that time.

:thumbsup2

Any idea when the Concierge Lounge refurbishment will be complete ? We are due to check on the 7th September and I'm also worried about all the CL guests being 'crammed' into the Presidential suite.

Would appreciate any advice, I have considered moving but would prefer not to.

Thanks

Unfortunately, we don't know at this time when the work on the lounge will be finished, but Teena mentioned it was coming along quickly.

:goodvibes

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list that we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

:cool1:

As others have suggested, rooms either with a view of the wedding gazebo or of the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard are very nice.

:)

If we book a CL garden view room- where are they located? I will have a friend with us who is a smoker. Does anyone know where the closest smoking area would be to the lounge and how hard it is to get there? We are also two families- are there connecting CL rooms? Thanks!

BC or YC?

I think there are only 5 YC CL GV rooms and they either overlook the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard or the wedding gazebo.

I am not sure where all of the BC CL GV rooms are located, but I know some of them overlook the BC back entrance (lakeside) courtyard.

There are some, but probably not many connecting CL rooms, but I'm really not sure.

I'll try to post a map that shows the various DSL (Designated Smoking Areas)

:thumbsup2

Oh no I am really disappointed in the pool policy change. We have a late flight home and planned to use the pool on our last day after the 11 am checkout :worried:

I agree- this is really not an acceptable policy! You are permitted to use the pool on your checkout day, and there are lockers available poolside, along with poolside outdoor showers- don't get me started- but it is ridiculous that guests can't use the changing rooms in the health club.

Word to the Wise- do use the inside restrooms near Beaches & Cream and not the poolside restrooms to change.

::yes::

As others have posted, you should be all set with a full balcony at YC, so the request for an upper floor can be your request.

:thumbsup2

2 weeks from today we will be at YC for 11 nights!! :cool1: We are all so excited! I think we will be asking for a daybed as our room request since we are a family of 5. As a second request, I think I may also ask for a higher floor. We just have a standard room. Do I just ask for a higher floor or should I be asking for a specific floor?

Families of 5 have priority for a room with a daybed. You must be given a room in which everyone is able to have someplace to sleep, so in the occasional situation when all of the daybed rooms are occupied, you may be given a room with 2 Queen Beds and a rollaway cot. It couldn't hurt to specifically request a daybed room, especially since your stay is so long.

I think you are ok asking for an upper floor. "Upper floor, please" "Highest floor available, please"

:goodvibes

We just checked out of YC yesterday after nine amazing days. Had room 4150. Garden view overlooking wedding gazebo with side view of lake and boardwalk. Awesome room. Amazing vacation. Can't wait to go back!!
We were originally assigned 4142 which had no view and no daybed. Needed daybed so my kids wouldn't have to sleep together. Asked and received 4150 w/ daybed with no problem.

So glad you had a great stay!!!

:)

Great question- I don't really have any experience with the villas, so I will leave your inquiry to others for a response.

Us too. We don't have to leave for MCO until 5pm on our check out day and it's not a "parks day" for us. I guess the resort public bathrooms will have to do for our changing needs. :sad1:
Bell services will hold on to our big suitcases/bags between check out and getting on DME, correct?
