We are staying at the Beach Club in late January and early February. A few questions:

1). Do all club level rooms have the large balconies?

2). When are room renovations expected to start? I know they have started on the lounge.

3). Is the club lounge still open 24/7?

Thank you! Excited for the beach club! I finally convinced hubby to make the jump from wilderness lodge.

I'd say 20-25 minutes but more like 5 if you are being chased by a bear. ~NM

Walking from the YC to the mini-golf took DW and I about 20 minutes but then I'm not a fast walker (I usually let the bear go first). Walk over to the Swalfin, past the volleyball courts and cross the street, just remember to look both ways first. It is a very easy and enjoyable walk.

What is your request- you have a limited selection of preset requests when you checkin on line. For example, the request for a daybed is not one of the requests. So if that is what you want, then I wouldn't do the online, and just rely on the request you phoned in.

I think full balcony is one of the BC requests. If that was my request, I would make sure it was called in, I would do online checkin and indicate full balcony as a request, and not override the requests with the option that gives you a room ready as soon as possible.

Does that make sense?

Ya that makes sense bc I was thinking along the lines of an online request "over-riding" my phone requests. Full balcony was my 1st request. We are garden view but I requested specifically "courtyard", rather than treetops. We will need a daybed but I was told by the phone CM that that is automatic with parties of 5 staying in one room and doesn't need to be an official request. I think I'll just skip the online check in. Thanks!

So if I've called and put in my requests for my room, is it okay to do the online check-in? Or would I be better off checking in when we get there and leaving our bags if our room is not ready? I'm assuming that with online check-in your room is usually ready when you get there.

Just wondering the best way to check in.

I'd like to know this as well. We will be just getting off the Fantasy and wondering if I have to stand in line or can we just drop off our bags and hit the parks if we do Online Check-in.

DH called the Reservations Line this morning (7 days out) and they transferred him to YC direct because they couldn't find us with our UK reservation number, and our request of high room, wedding gazebo view was added. We will not be doing online checkin, hopefully it will work, last trip we got upgraded from a Standard View to a Lagoon View, nothing will ever beat that )))

This thought serves as encouragement for a timely reminder...


IF you are carrying an ALCOHOLIC beverage and you try to leave the park the CM's will ask that you finish the drink or throw it out... because Florida has a no open container (of alcoholic beverages) law.

If you would like to transport your alcoholic beverage back to the resort BE SURE TO BRING ANOTHER CONTAINER and POUR your beverage in that so it can not be identified as an alcoholic beverage.

Those in the know are fond of taking their refillable mugs to the park to use for this purpose. The CM's will not inspect your container, but if it looks like something that an Alcoholic beverage is served in in the parks then they will flag you for it.

Those refillable mugs, or other insulated mugs from home, are great for keeping what ever beverage you have nice and cold on a hot day. This makes touring the parks that much more refreshing. You also can buy one giant bucket of soda at a counter service and split it up between the members of your traveling party.

So In the words of the immortals:

"Take a container or chug the remainder!!!"

We booked through Orbitz so I am hoping that if I call tomorrow Disney will have our reservation loaded in and I won't need to make room requests through Orbitz. I know there are other posts elsewhere about this but I couldn't find them again. What I understand is that Orbitz "owns" the reservation up until the "free cancellation" period expires and then Disney owns it. Anyone know anything about this (or about requesting room preferences through Disney when you booked through orbitz)?

I have never had any luck calling Disney Reservations, even with the Disney confirmation number, which is visible on your Orbitz reservation. They apparently can see it, but are not able to get into it...at least that's what they told me. I always call Orbitz, tell them that I want to add special room requests to my record, and they actually place me on hold, while they contact Disney. Call when you have some time, as the hold can sometimes be lengthy. I usually call at least one week ahead, but any time prior to arrival should be fine.

I am worried about the heat. We have been having unbelievably nice weather here in PA. Pleasant not too humid. So cool in the morning, you need a jacket! So we have not built up tolerance of humidity that we have in past years (we always go to Disney in August). I am just hoping the nice weather follows us down

Dancing Queen, we're in the same boat. I remember August as being pretty unpleasant in past years. Not as humid as Florida, but definitely in the 90's many days. I think the highest temp we've had this month was 85. It's supposed to be 77 one day next week. Only saving grace is that my kids take karate and it has to be mid-90s for them to turn on the AC. So at least a few hours a week, we're sweating it out in the dojang.
