Coming to BC in August and planning lots of breaks and pool time in the afternoon heat. However, I have no idea what to do during break time if it's raining! What resort (or nearby) activities do you suggest for a rainy afternoon?

You take the nap! You are going to be tired from all that running around so plug yourself into that bed and recharge your batteries! Mid day is the time to play my favorite game at WDW! I call it "Dead Body Count"! You can play this game anywhere... the lounge chairs at the pool, the bodies sprawled across the tubes in the lazy river or your husband's dead body hogging up the bed in your hotel room. If they aren't moving and they have that look of utter exhaustion they count as a dead body! These are the people, that when it rained, they failed to take a nap! Don't be part of the dead body count! When it rains, take that nap!

If we go to Epcot and take the monorail to MK do you have to switch monorails at TTC? If so do you go out and get back in line for the other monorail? Sorry. Probably a stupid question but I've never gone from Epcot to MK that way. Can't wait to try it!

Yes, you will have to get off at the Ticket and Transportation Center, walk down the one ramp and then hoof it up the other. Personally speaking this drives me crazy but I understand they do it to have the space for any crowds that may accumulate if in fact a crowd ever would accumulate at WDW :scared1:

My family and I will be staying at the Yacht Club for the first time August 12-24 . We are so excited and so thankful for all of the information on this thread. What I am trying to find out about are refillable mugs and walking distance to get them filled- from what I have read here, you can refill at the Lounge in the AM, Marketplace at Beach Club and Hurricane Hannahs at the pool? Can anyone give me an idea in approx minutes how long it takes to get to these locations from Yacht Club? Thanks so much!!

Hurricane Hannah's could be a little closer than the Marketplace since the refill station is right next to the sidewalk to Epcot. Otherwise you would walk into the lobby on the BC and turn right. The Marketplace is just past the elevators. I would guess that 4 to 5 minutes from the time you exit the YC would do it. :)

Ninja Mom, you are hilarious! I love reading your responses on this thread!

Hi,

We purchased the counter service dining plan for our trip and noticed that we get free refillable mugs.

Do we receive those when we check in at the Beach Club? Or is there another way we get them?

Thanks! :)

Thank-you so much- having never stepped foot in these resorts, I was having a hard time trying to figure this out!

Hello Everyone,

We are celebrating the great birthday extravaganza from August 29-Sep 3rd.

In the party will be MY DH (The only non-birthday person), my dd who will turn 3, my Dear Brother who will turn 24, and myself who will turn 30 :).

We are staying club level at yacht club, it is going to be so much fun :).

Sorry if this has been asked before - but can you request a rollaway bed if you're in a room with a daybed?

Good question! I think the timing would be pretty close either way.

Timing estimates

Walk to front of park- 25 min
wait for monorail- 5 min
monorail ride/switch to express mono at TTC/arrive at gates- 15 min?

Walk to BC bus stop from Germany- 25 min
Wait for bus- 10 min
Ride to MK- 15 min

If I was already in EPCOT, I would walk to the front and take the monorail- (it is TOO a ride!).

:goodvibes

Since the Biergarten is pretty far from the International Gateway, I think it would be better to walk to the monorail.

Monorail, it is then :thumbsup2

Thank you very much!

Excited for our stay this week at the YC!

I believe the answer is no, but do the fridges also have a freezer compartment? I have a super annoying injury to my tailbone and need to ice it after a long day of walking, so was going to bring my gel ice pack, but IIRC there are no freezers? My other alternative is to buy one of those rubber type things you can fill with ice, which is probably easy enough I guess. This stuff always happens to me at the worst times!

I have heard really great things about the food at the Crew's Cup lounge, especially the burgers, but I have never had a meal there myself. Thought I would share a very detailed and informative review from my friend Brenda:

Review of Crew's Cup meal by emmysmommy, August 2013

.

I was just catching up on the thread after a few days away (my son had a small surgery and was recouping, but he's doing great :) ) and I have to say, the Crew's Cup was an unexpected delight when we discovered it on our last trip. My guys (3 adult men and 1 thinks he's an adult kiddo) simply loved the place (as did I) and that was one of the determining factors for our upcoming Yacht Club stay!

If anyone goes there, you really MUST get an order of the Parmesan truffle fries!!! They are soooo goooood. :thumbsup2 I think over 2 nights we had 5 or six orders of them.

One of the nights I got a steak and it was excellent and I think about $20 less than the steak next door at Yachtsman. Great value, and the bartenders there were wonderful!

Ok so now you guys have me thinking about checking out the Crew Cup Lounge on our trip in August, my only question is it ok to bring our children with us (age 11)?

Yes, my son has been going with us for years and he's 13 now.

My little guy was only 5 when we were there, and they even let him sit at the bar since there weren't any tables available.
