I am completely with you on this. A few pages back Erica posted her review which lists desserts and cordials 8-10. I would expect them to be offered then. We planned our dinner times around the appetizer/beer one, so we could stop before heading to our ADR. I would be so upset if they aren't available as advertised. You pay a lot of money for those amenities and they should be there as expected. I don't use IPO for any of my things, so my paying club level is purely for the convenience of snacks, drinks, etc for our trip. At this rate we'd be better off swapping to non club and putting in a very large order from garden grocer! I'm not a booze hound by any means, if I have a beer at the pool and a beer at dinner that's my max, but I don't like feeling like I'm being babysat with my drinks.

We dropped our CL reservation when FD came out because our family will be at CBR on FD. We thought it would be fund to do our meals with them. But now I'm a little glad we're not staying CL. And, I've always LOVED everything about CL.

I feel like the amenities that you are paying for keep dwindling. Less food....monitoring your drinks...no more bottled water, etc. It's a lot of additional money to stay CL and I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. I don't need someone standing over me if I want a glass of wine or a beer. People talk about the lounge pigs but really....as much as people are paying you can't tell me they are losing money because they ate 4 egg rolls instead of 1.

Making ADRs couldn't be simpler with MDE. It can be done in a matter of minutes. Most lounges don't give you bottled water any longer. So, I just don't think we'll be willing to pay if they're going to stand over the drinks now and monitor everyone.

I'm definitely coming to the DISMeet on the 18th! It's the whole reason I booked the trip!!! :)

and I can't wait to see you again!

Hope everything is going great with your July extravaganza!!!

Can't wait to hear all the details!

I have a quick question--We land at 6:15pm on a Saturday. We have 2 Std. rooms booked at the YC. Would you do online check in or no? I did this once before when I stayed at FQ a couple years ago-and I got nothing I wanted, lol. Do you think that I should give it another go? I just worry that by the time we there, all the decent standard rooms will be gone. This is the 1st time we have late flights into Orlando. Let me know your opinions :)

Oh and what is the 'Surfs Up' and 'Home Run' section that is noted on the room request page?

Rooms are assigned several days before your arrival, online check in or not. Online check in usually speeds up your arrival process as they will already have your info & CC of choice on file.

I noticed both Home Run & Surfs Up on my online check in options this week too.. they were on all the pages I was linked to - Poly & WL as well.

They are sections at All Star Sports! lol.. Just another Disney glitch!

My favorite part of CL at YC/BC was the restricted access. With two small kids I like that only a limited amount of people can access our floor. Granted we never leave them alone, but things could happen. We have an AP with tables in wonderland, so we get a better deal with the room only (35% off) than we do with free dining, in our opinion. I so far have been disappointed with the staff correspondence so far. Our son is lactose intolerant and drinks lactaid .2 years old so he drinks a lot. I asked IPO if we could arrange to have it there upon checkin (obviously us footing bill for the runner) and they said no. We can remind them at checkin and they will send the runner then...but the runners aren't frequent and we may have a full day of it unavailable. Same with food offerings we asked if they would offer something he can have and they basically said to talk to the chef at check in and they 'might' accommodate him. Just seems there hasn't been any above and beyond effort.

Hopping into Epcot for dinner is nice, but hopping over to DHS for cupcakes at Starring Rolls is even better!
Yes yes yes!!! Thanks to this board just had our first cupcake there. Amazing! Just sayin'. We are her now for an 11 night stay and will try to give some live reports.

Hello everyone, I know I have been largely quiet for awhile on this board. I have been really busy lately but just last night DH and I made some big decisions... One of those decisions has to do with our vacation. We have switched our dates because of work issues with our September Labor Day weekend trip and drastically moved up the dates! Dee can you remove us from the September list and add us to the July listpixiedust: 7/4-7/8 BC GV We are actually then moving to the Swan for 2 nights, and the reason we are moving is because of the shower/locker room issue at BC. We always have the last flight out and I need a proper shower before getting on an 8:45 pm flight. No proper facilities is a deal breaker for me. So while I am so happy to be going back to BC and my beloved SAB, I am disappointed about having to switch resorts to get a shower:rolleyes2 I will end on a good note... in 19 days I will be sitting at SAB:cool1:

Sitting at SAB right now and will be here until 7/9. Look for us poolside. We will have the big plastic wine and champagne glasses!

Hearing all of these things really makes me sad :( I love YC/BC for the theming, location, pool, all of it. I have been hearing mixed feelings about Disney CL generally lately, but sadly a lot of it is at these resorts. I stayed AKL CL just 6 months ago and received responses to all emails within 24 hours, usually the next morning. They gave us beer and mimosas freely all day, bottled juices, milks were available as well as canned pop to take and go. They really hit it out of the park with the service and unique offerings (including a bday surprise). Now I am afraid if I stay CL at YC it will tarnish my view of the resort! lol. Maybe I will just stick to eating at epcot and ordering garden grocer for these.

If you're completely exhausted and can't make it to Starring Rolls at DHS, I have found cupcakes at the Beach Club Marketplace, in the refrigerator section.

If you're too tired to go to DHS but have enough energy to go from Yacht/Beach Club to the Boardwalk, check Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets for cupcakes.

But, what's that disclosure... prior results are not indicative of future success... or whatever. I have found cupcakes in those places in the past, but can't promise that they will be there in the future.

Hey NateBenMa, and anyone else who might travel from Yacht/Beach Club over to the dark side (Universal) in the future-- there's a special about Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley on NBC tonight (Monday 06/30/14) from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm Eastern time.

LeakyCon is going to have a private event in both parts of Wizarding World exactly one month from today, after the park closes to the general public for the night. I'm :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: about getting to walk around Diagon Alley and go in the shops without the usual crowds and lines. I'd be :yay: about going on the Gringots ride and Hogwarts Express without the lines, but I get motion sick so I'll have to skip those.

(It's not too late to register for LeakyCon. If you register for the conference, you can buy a ticket for the park event when they go on sale. The park event costs extra.)

Okay, back to my regularly scheduled reporting about BCV, cupcakes at the Beach Club, etc.

Can anyone tell me when the movie under the stars will start in late September?Trying to make sure we can do that at least once so I want to make sure I don't have all of my dining reservations overlapping it.

Thanks!

The movie time for Sept 2013 was 8:30pm. So there is a good chance that it will be the same time in Sept 2014. :)
And we'll be there then, too. ;)

I will say that we stayed CL at BCR in 2011 and we loved it. We loved the convenience of the breakfast, the offerings were good, and we always finished the evening with cordials and desserts up in the lounge. We were welcome to drinks anytime we asked. The changes are disappointing to me. But, that doesn't mean that it won't be a great time. And, sometimes I think they come across less helpful in their emails than they do in person.

I totally agree... Hopefully it was just a fluke. I didn't cause a scene bc we actually picked up beer/wine on our way here in case the lounge was stingy on drinks (not a booze bag either but is vacation and we like to enjoy it :)

We have an ADR for la hacienda de san angel at 8pm with the hopes of a great view of illuminations! So glad you had success! What time was your ressie and did you request window seats? Or do window seats not even matter?

Our ressie was at 745 and we requested a window table when we checked in. She said it wasn't guaranteed and we might have to wait longer and we agreed. We sat one table away from the window and the view was great and they piped in the music and turned the lights down.

SUMMER VACATION!
Now I can finally get back to posting semi-regularly.

I hope no one stones me for saying this, but to be honest, I've never been a fan of the BC marketplace. I find it incredibly overcrowded at all times. If I want quick food, I tend to go over to the Boardwalk Bakery and for my shopping needs I greatly prefer Fittings and Farings, the gift shop at the Yacht Club.

Don't worry folks, everything is under control. Here is local news footage of how the true believers dealt with this difference of opinion ;)

The Fiend Must be Found!! LOLOLOL!!

But seriously, differing opinions are welcomed here. Not everybody has the same experiences or expectations so it's good when people point out what they find problematic in a resort. That information can help another guest when they come to stay, so thanks to everyone for sharing their concerns.

I looked for you and your wine glasses the other day at sab!

Spent the am at MK, had a very productive morning despite waiting almost 30 min for a bus and experiencing some rain. At 1ish we took the monorail to epcot to try for a 4th fast pass for tonight and test track and soarin were already gone :( walked thru bc secret entrance and saw sab was closed, I'm guessing for thunder. Hoping to see fantasmic for the first time ever as it was canceled th other night due to lightening. Having a blast and met Ana and Elsa today!!!

I, Ninja Mom, am developing a reputation for my timely and 'helpful' tips. As such I feel it imperative to pass along my sage advice to help the resort's summer vacationers prepare for a stay at our epic resort. To that end I will remind everyone that they NEED to practice important aspects of this trip.

Yes people, I am talking about Storm Along Bay practice! Now I know many of you are way past your prime and so floating around in an inner tube is somewhat of a dim and distant memory from your childhood all those years ago. Perhaps like Ninja Mom your back yard pool was when someone opened up a fire hydrant and flooded the street. Although not a pool tube friendly environment, it did provide some preparation for when you would get splashed by a passing tsunami, generated from a truck instead of a human screaming "Cannonball"!

Now we all know that they have tubes in Storm Along Bay free for floating in the lazy river. However Ninja Mom has been around the block and she has seen some mighty unfortunate attempts at trying to sit on and then eventually get off of those pool tubes. So, for the love of God, please practice entering and exiting a pool tube in the privacy of your street when your fire hydrant is turned on. If you're one of those fancy people and you have a cement pond like they had on the Beverly Hillbillies then you can practice in that. Just remember there is nothing more embarrassing than trying to tour the parks with a big old clear pool tube wedged on your kiester!

Next up is practicing for the dilemma of what side of the lounge chair to place your refillable mug. Savvy swimmers know that the shady side is best for keeping that mug out of the sun and thus keeping your beverage lukewarm instead of broiling hot. Nothing makes perfect like practice, so get out there now and spend hours on that lounge chair with a comfortable book and a formerly frosty beverage.

Next we must discuss tan lines and what to do about them. You don't want to appear like a vacation newbie who is wearing her best swim suit that is not lining up with that old rag she throws on when the fire hydrant is turned loose. Make sure to evenly baste your kiester and top shelf so you avoid having a bright screaming red sunburn where the sun don't shine.

Finally you need to practice the art of looking like you are reading that trashy Harlequin romance novel when you are really passed out from exhaustion and that one Sunken Treasure you chugged down too quickly. Good sun glasses are essential to this ruse so be sure to secure a pair for your trip to Storm Along Bay. Do Not make the rookie mistake of wearing these at home while you are practicing otherwise you will develop the facial tan lines of an albino raccoon! These sunglasses are best saved for desperate measures or to prevent sun blindness, which ever comes first.
