There’s No Turning Back Now! 7/23 - Link to my new PTR!

I love a good tinted moisturizer with SPF in the summer. It evens out my skin tone (and gives me a nice glow) without feeling too heavy. It does have to be reapplied but SPF needs to be reapplied anyway so it works out well.

I think a tutu with a sparkly tank top would be a great combo for True's BBB day! :thumbsup2 You might check out the DISign boards for inspiration or to get something personalized.

Your trip is shaping up to busy and fabulous! Just get there knowing that you have lots of options and don't stress about fitting it all in and you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Well, with a toddler I don't have much time for makeup so I don't wear foundation. It wasn't hard to give up. We kind of had a love/hate thing going. In the heat I probably won't want it.

I just wear a press powder, blush and lip gloss. Sometimes I will put on eye-shadow to match my shirt, but at Disney I'll be wearing mostly white shirts, so I'll probably stick with a subtle pink or blue, or a brown that shimmers some. I probably won't do mascara due to the heat and eye liners and I never got along. I poked myself in the eye one too many times. :rotfl:

I'm an Avon girl too. I don't sell it, I just wear it, but I am very fond of it.

I'm happy you're taking 'True to BBB. It's great you were able to get a spot. Before I went with the etsy dress, I looked online for formal dresses at ebay and other sites like www.pinkprincess.com. Lots of choices for older girls there and etsy has some nice tutus and tank tops.

If you want a DISign though, I highly recommend Shadowryter. She did a lot of ours, including this for Ariana. She has a long request thread, but she's really good about getting them done.

She also has some designs that say mom and mama. There are two similar to the name fill with the princesses. I'm wearing one to CRT and the other to Akershus.

Before I get to the replies, does anyone know what today is???

:cheer2:60 Days Until Our Walt Disney World Vacation!!!:cheer2:

Good morning Sunshine!! :goodvibes I just love reading your updates. Your trip is getting so close now! As for makeup, since I was an Avon rep, I still use Avon products. I wear the glimmersticks waterproof eyeliner which seems to stay on really well. It's a pencil and not a liquid eyeliner. I can't seem to make a straight line with the liquid stuff. Sorry I can't help you with knowing what makeup your sister would be talking about. I do know that MAC is expensive as that's the brand you hear the Hollywood set wears.

Yeah, would be hard to make a straight line with a liquid, you’re right. Wait, you are still selling Avon, right? I haven’t brought anything in a while, but I have to get more of that Skin So Soft bug repellant! Also, since I am currently looking for a man, I need more of that man-catching vanilla lotion! :lmao:

Oh, you are so lucky that both of the kids are still young enough to enjoy the special events at Disney. I just wish Victoria would be young enough to enjoy BBB, but alas, at 14 she isn't. Also, she's more of a tomboy so to have her in a dress with hair and makeup done? Yeah, not happening.:confused3 I would like to do the Pirates League, too, but again, I wouldn't be able to convince Victoria to do that. Oh well, I guess it's just regular touring for us!

I am really glad that they still like doing this kind of stuff too. I thought Coy wasn’t going to go for it, but since he did, I’m going to make the most of it! He might deem it to be too childish by the next time we go to Disney. You should do Pirate’s League! I want to do it myself, but I don’t want to take up too much time from touring that day. I’m definitely going to get my face painted in Africa and get henna in Morocco! ;)

I don't think I'm going to be making tshirt this year. I made some last year and the Hanes ones just don't fit right on me. I could always go with the Just My Size brand to give me the fit I want, but then that gets expensive. I have bought some regular shirts for the trip, so we'll see. Peter and Victoria's shirts still fit from last year, so they will probably wear those. We'll see.

All of the t-shirts and craft projects can really add up!

So there's another episode of Girl Talk? Gee, we've talked about hair and makeup now. What other Girl Talks could there be? Hmmmm... I'll guess I'll just have to wait and see, right??!!! Will be waiting....patiently...ok, maybe not.....:rotfl2:

I think the next installment of Girl Talk is going to be the most fun because there will be lots of pictures!

Can't help with the makeup, I don't usually wear any at the parks b/c it just comes off! Hmmmm, but now that I'm going alone with Rey, I feel like I might want to. I've never looked into waterproof eyeliner, I use the pencil kind and have never had a problem with it coming off. :confused3

I need to get some waterproof eyeliner because mine always seems to melt away. Maybe it is because I don’t wear foundation and my skin tends to be a little oily? All I know is that my eyeliner is always gone by midday – and that is without sweating it off in the Orlando heat!

I love that you have all these special things planned! I cannot wait to hear how they all went, I cannot believe you are just two months out! It seems like you just had to cancel your other trip. I'm so happy for you guys!!! :goodvibes

Thanks! I’m so excited about our plans! Only two months to go!!! :yay:

I love a good tinted moisturizer with SPF in the summer. It evens out my skin tone (and gives me a nice glow) without feeling too heavy. It does have to be reapplied but SPF needs to be reapplied anyway so it works out well.

Tinted moisturizer is a good idea! I want to glow without getting burned! :furious: That's me getting a sunburn!

I am tutu obsessed right now! There are so many cute no-sew designs out there. I’m definitely going to look at the DISign boards for something special for True princess:

Your trip is shaping up to busy and fabulous! Just get there knowing that you have lots of options and don't stress about fitting it all in and you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Great tip from one obsessive planner to another! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I feel like foundation is more trouble than it is worth

I have poked myself in the eye with eyeliner too! Not fun! I also really love Avon products. There are so many great products in their line.

Thanks! I’m really happy about it too! I couldn’t believe that I got a spot! That pinkprincess website has so many beautiful things! They have tutus too! Yesterday, I spent a little too much time looking for dresses for True on etsy  There were so many adorable things on there! Searching “Disney Princess” on that site is a dangerous dangerous thing! :rotfl:

If you want a DISign though, I highly recommend Shadowryter. She did a lot of ours, including this for Ariana. She has a long request thread, but she's really good about getting them done.

That is a gorgeous Mickey head DISign! I also love the name fill! I’ll have to look at her thread!

party: 60 days!! WOOT! You are so close now! :woohoo:

I agree with luvmy2babies, Linda (Shadowryter) did almost all our DISigns on our last trips! Rey & I aren't getting any this time, we have something else planned, but she has beautiful DISigns. Hurry and request though, it does take some time with more and more people requesting!

So we have talked hair and make-up. Now it is time to talk nails! All I was planning on doing was getting some glow in the dark polish for me and True so that our nails would look cool in the dark rides and under black lights. Then I found myself in the rabbit hole that is Pinterest – once again – and I pinned a bunch of beautifully painted nails in a Disney theme! Now, I am one of those people who will pin all types of nail art ideas, but I have never attempted them. I used to be someone who would faithfully go get a mani/pedi every two weeks. I just don’t have time for that anymore. Now, I keep my nails short (so much typing!) and painted in a funky color. After seeing these cool nail designs, I shared them with my sisters and we decided to do each other’s nails for the trip!

This first design is the most complex and we will probably not do them like this, but how cool!

Originally pinned from here, I really like the princess theme! This was done with decals, so it might not be too hard to do, now that I think about it. I really like the “D”!

These really stood out for me:

I love the bright yellow and the simplicity of the Mickey Head design. I think this would be fairly easy to do! They’re basically just dots!

Minnie Mouse!

Originally pinned from here, I could do without that awkwardly large plastic bow :lmao: but I love the dots and I love the glitter on the pinky and the thumb!

These nails are cool too:

Originally pinned from here, I like that is a combination of Minnie and Mickey!

I think these are awesome:

Originally pinned from here, I love this nautical look! It reminds me of old school Mickey – like the Steamboat Willie era when Mickey still had a tail! I don’t think my hand is steady enough to do those stripes, though!

Now for my favorite!

I really like these because each nail is different and I love the bright colors! They pay homage to Mickey and Minnie, and the designs seem pretty simple to do!

I’m not sure exactly when my sisters and I are going to do each other’s nails because I think the plan is that we are going to meet at my house on Friday night and then leave for Disney between Midnight and 2am. Most likely, my sisters will do each other’s nails at their place and I will have to have True help me with mine :thumbsup2 True won’t be getting her nails done since that is part of the package at Pirate’s League and her nails have to be polish-free for that. Uh oh, I just realized that I will have to think of an excuse to take her polish off before her appointment at BBB! I don’t want to ruin the surprise!

So, do you guys do anything special with your nails before a Disney trip? Which designs or colors do you like?

Oh my!! How cute are all those! I seriously don't do anything with my nails. I tend to bite them, and I hate the taste of polish, so I don't usually have them done. Maybe in Disney, though. The only time I ever had a mani/pedi is when we won that spa package in February. I'm looking down at my hands now. ICK! My hands get so dry in the winter. I tend to like blue polish. And I don't do the whole buffing, clear coat, color coat, top coat. Wow....just too much time involved. I do like the red nails with white polka dots, though. Also I don't like the yellow, but I like the Mickey heads on them. Are those decals or just painted on? They look too perfect to just be painted on. Sorry, I can't be of much help on the nails, darling! :lmao:

Oh yes, that Disney Princess search on etsy. It’s more dangerous on there than on ebay. That's how I ended up with the dresses I have. I already got my dd a Minnie Mouse pillow case dress and I’ve got my eye on a Disney Princess one I found where the seller put sparkles on each princess’s outfit. I was immediately :lovestruc: I thought it would be really cute for our Akershus breakfast.

Ugh! Nails! Mine are a complete mess right now due to a recent incident. I had some work done on my house in the fall including replacement of a lot of the window sills. The workers left the windows open to dry and it was my job to go back and close them later. I had trouble closing quite a few of them so when I went to close one in my son’s room, I placed my hand on it thinking it would take a lot of force. It didn’t and it went down fast, trapping the tips of 3 of my fingers (pointer, middle and ring) on each hand. I had bruises under each nail by the time I pulled them out. The bruises have faded, but my nails are still a mess. I’ll probably get a nice manicure before the trip though. I haven’t had one in a long time because they could never guarantee me the polish would not harm my son if my hand got into his mouth. Now that he’s older, I might go back to it.

My daughter would likely enjoy that. She loves getting her nails done. She’d probably like the Minnie Mouse ones for part of our trip. Her BBB appointment is on the 4th day, but we might meet Minnie on the 2nd day at Character Spot if the line isn't too long. She knows about her BBB appointment, so I don't have that worry convincing her to take it off. Although we could just do it for the 2nd half since we'll see Minnie a couple more times after that.

Those look so cool. It shouldn't surprise you that after I saw your post I did a search and found several listings on ebay for Mickey and Minnie Mouse nail decals. Any guesses what I'll be doing tonight? :rotfl2:

I did red with white dots on mine, but it's harder than you think to do perfect dots! I have no idea how these people are doing them, but mine weren't so perfect. They were ok though...I don't think I have a picture!

I got laid off. I'm naturally very upset about this for a wide variety of reasons. Of course, this means no Disney trip. I got a severance package and we'll be OK if I can't find a job right away. I'm very emotional and I'm angry because I took this job - at a paycut - to provide myself more opportunities and more job security. How ironic! I'm trying not to be negative right now - even though I know I fully deserve to be - but I'm so mad. I feel betrayed. I feel bad for my other coworkers that got laid off too as a result of "downsizing". What a crock. I know I have bigger problems to handle right now, but I'm very upset that I'm going to have to disappoint my kids, once again. I talked to my sisters and they were extremely supportive. I have wonderful sisters. They understood that it wouldn't be right for me to take a vacation when I need to prioritize finding a job. I'm so mad, though! We were so close! I could feel it! I could taste it! I could smell it! Now it's all gone up in a puff of smoke. I know that this isn't true, but I do feel like PTRs have jinxed my trips. I know. That is stupid. It was corporate BS, not a PTR, that ruined this trip. This is a nightmare.

Oh Erin, I am so sorry! That just really sucks. There's no other way to say it. :(

I'm so sorry Erin!!! That's horrible. :( I hope you find something quick and I know that disappointment of having to tell your kids but I KNOW you'll get back there and I'll be here rooting you on when the time comes. I'm so sorry and hope you find something quickly that you love.

My thoughts and prayers are with you that a better job is out there waiting .

Thank you, guys, so much :grouphug:

Oh Erin, I remember you talking about taking this new position. I'm so sorry that you were downsized. What a bunch of crap!

I am so sorry.

I've been there and it hurts so bad. I hope you find another job soon.

I was so enjoying reading your pre-trip and hearing your enthusiasm. I am so sorry about your job. Sending prayers that another better one is just around the corner and that you can restart your trip planning soon!

Thank you all! Everyone has been so supportive :grouphug:

Hi, guys! I just had to say thank you to you all again for being so incredibly supportive after I broke the news about getting laid off. I only have a few of you as Facebook Friends and I don't know any of you in real life, but I felt a real sense of community when I shared my bad news. I appreciate all of your kind words so much! :grouphug: I'm still going through my phases of mourning (that's the best way I can describe it) and it helped to be able to just get my job situation off of my chest and to get so much sympathy in return. Thank you!

I have been doing OK. Luckily, I was able to make a lot of connections over the past six years and I'm hoping that I'll find new employment through networking with old coworkers. I guess I should have jumped ship when they did! No, seriously, I have no regrets staying with that company for as long as I did. I learned a lot on their dime. Hopefully, I'll find a better job at a better company for better pay. It's their loss that they invested so much time and money in training me and now another company is going to benefit. I applied for a few jobs at my same company, but after this, I'd feel uncomfortable taking another job with them because I'd never feel like my job was secure. I did get two phone interviews with two different companies but the pay was not enough for me to go in for a second interview in person. I hope I don't end up regretting not going for those jobs, but I'm not desperate yet. I don't want to settle for a job when I need to focus on getting my career started again. I'm looking online and in the paper too, but I'm not seeing a lot. My company also provided outplacement services with an employment agency, so they tweaked my resume a bit for me. Thank goodness I've been good about keeping my resume up to date! My supervisor from a few years ago always stressed the importance of keeping resumes up to date - I'm glad I listened! It would've been very difficult to remember everything I've done over the past few years - especially under pressure to get it done. So that's the tip of the day, kiddies: keep your resume up to date! The employment agency also recommended joining linkedin. Are any of you guys on there? I think I'll do that now that my resume looks more polished.

In Disney related news, I rescheduled my trip today. I was going to cancel, but I was worried that if I got my money back, I'd end up spending it somehow and I wouldn't be able to schedule another trip any time soon. I have no idea if we'll make this trip either, but I like being able to look forward to something. I really enjoy the planning part of the process. Hopefully I'll have a good job and vacation time soon so that I can take a vacation with my kids within the next year. Hanging out at home with nothing to do but scour the want ads isn't exactly a vacation :lmao: It's been nice to be home for the kids after school, though. Anyway, I'm not ready to close this PTR yet. If the trip does come to fruition, I might start a new PTR. Although, I have no idea what I'd write about since I've covered every subject I could think of so far! I might go over craft projects the kids and I will do, but I'm not sure if that technically would count as a PTR if I'm not planning a trip :confused3 I really enjoy writing and sharing with you guys, so I just can't give up the PTR idea yet! Also, I need to see one of these trips through! I'm worried that it's a bad sign that I'm not all that disappointed about rescheduling. I need to break the cycle! I guess it's because I know that it would be completely illogical to take a vacation when my employment status is up in the air. It's just that all of the plans came together so well! I just have to believe that any future plans will also go well. What does get to me, though, is that my sisters won't be able to go with us unless we go for Spring Break or go next summer. My sisters were so sweet because they were totally understanding and even suggested other things we could do this summer. They thought of going to Hershey Park this summer for a daytrip. I know the kids would enjoy that. So we'll see what happens next. OK, I feel like I'm rambling :) I'm getting tired, so I'll end it here. Again, guys, thanks so much. You all are awesome :grouphug:
