There’s No Turning Back Now! 7/23 - Link to my new PTR!

We went last September, we did wdw for 5 days/ Disney cruise for 4 days (from saturday until the following sunday) this meant my son had to miss a week of school. I didn't know what to do since he is an honor student and really never misses school. But, we really want to go to the halloween party. (we want to celebrate his 13 birthday) I spoke to my neighbors which are school teachers. They told me take him and enjoy. I was surprise he is in middle school and his teachers gave very little homework and told him they wished they were coming with us. For him it didn't hurted him he still has great grades. But, I understand its a hard decision.

:):):)

It is definatly a hard decision to make between more time at Disney and going to school. It is definatly a no brainer for me at this time. Liam has already missed 13 days of school due to illness and doctors appointments (he actually has another appointment on tuesday that will last all day so that will bring the tally up to 14:scared1:) so the idea of him missing any school for Disney was just not an option. Of course the world said HA and a blizzard hit our small town changing the last day of school.:rotfl:

That being said, I hope to be able to make a family trip during early December one year so we can see the the lights, and not deal with the crowd there during Christmas Break.:cloud9:

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments! :goodvibes I'll reply to you all tomorrow. I'm exhausted because we had a very busy birthday day here for my little princess princess: and I just jumped on the boards really quick to change my sig to reflect that my baby is now 8! :lovestruc I'm nothing if not thorough :rotfl:

Thanks, disneychard, it is a tough decision. I hope that his teachers are understanding about a family vacation. They have been in the past, but he will be in middle school like your son was, so that was making me feel unsure. I'm going to hope we'll have the same experience you did and they'll just encourage him to go and have fun :goodvibes

Thanks, Corrine. I know how that feels when the kids miss a lot of school. Mine happened the opposite way, though. The kids missed a week of school for our 2009 trip. Then last Spring, True got a really bad UTI and missed ANOTHER week of school! So between that and other random sick days, she ended up missing about 15 days of school! :scared1: Luckily, she didn't fall behind and everything was OK, but I felt bad she missed that much school.

I hope your son's appointment goes well! I also hope you get to do that Christmas trip one year!

Happy Birthday True!!!!:bday:
Hope it was wonderful!!!
party:party:

Thank you! True had a fantastic day!

I hope she had a wonderful day!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it! :goodvibes

Thank you, Karen! She had a blast and I hope to post about it tonight or tomorrow :)

In other planning-way-in-the-future Disney news:

My brother, sisters, my brother's fiancee, my sister's long-time boyfriend, our mom, Coy and I all took True to the zoo yesterday for her birthday. You know, my wheels started spinning and I sent this mass text to my sisters and one of my brothers this morning:

"OK, I know it's totally insane to think this far in advance, but what do you think about WDW at the end of next June? All 5 of us plus my babies plus *sister's BF* and *brother's F*? It would be awesome! We could rent one of those houses and have a ball for a whole week! It might be the last time we can vacay as sibs before *sister* and *brother* get married LMAO and with so many people, the cost would be minimal ;) And we can have a pool/hot tub in our backyard! I just had so much fun yesterday"

Guess what they said??? Well, my youngest brother was first to reply with, "What's WDW?" :faint: The horror! The shame! Am I even related to this man??? :lmao: Then again, he IS the one who took his now-fiancee to Orlando last year, stayed offsite and only spent one day in The World and it was at Blizzard Beach! :confused3 He has a lot to learn! JK! He's actually the one who told me about the condos and vacation homes for rent and how they had a great experience there.

So after that little hiccup about not knowing what WDW stood for, he got on board and our sisters texted me back soon after, also with the green light to price out a vacation :thumbsup2 I'm so excited! The pricing of the accommodations is going to be a little tricky, I think, because we have 2 people bringing their significant others, I'm bringing my kids and our other brother won't be able to afford this vacation on his own, so we'll have to all chip in for him too. So I am trying to figure this out. Do I price the house out by room, so the people who are sharing pay less? Or do I price it out per person, so that the fiancee and the boyfriend pay evenly with the rest of us? IDK, but that doesn't seem fair since they're sharing a bedroom. Either way, I'm screwed because I have to pay for two kids who aren't kicking in ANY money! :rotfl: Well, I have plenty of time to figure out the details...I'm just super happy that it looks like our Summer Sibling Trip is really gonna happen! :yay:

I'm here Erin! I'm so sorry you had to cancel your other trip but for reasons I can completely understand. I've been MIA from the Dis for awhile, dealing with "real life" stuff. We may have to cancel our October trip for financial and other reasons. Ugh. It's not fun being an adult sometimes, is it? I'm stoked you have this one planned though and have started another PTR! I'll be reading along for sure. :)

Glad to hear that True had a great birthday. :thumbsup2 And OH how your cup runneth over... A trip in October AND in June?! That sounds GREAT being with all your siblings and your kids. :cloud9: If that solidifies there had better be a TR to go along with it. :thumbsup2

Whooohooo! October AND June!!!! :woohoo:

I would split the cost "per family". Or you could even look at it as "per bedroom", but I think sibling/significant other count as one, just like you and your kids count as one.

Now you get to start researching houses! :cool1:

I think what Karen said was a great idea.....I think it should be per bedroom....you and the kids in one bedroom etc...that way would be the most fair. I think everyone chipping in for your brother is fair. I totally understand wanting a family gathering. I wish I could have done that with my 2 brothers, but it just never happened. There was one year when my brother Moe and his wife Jen were down at the same time, but we didn't tour together. It's too funny as we saw their faces on the big globe as you exit Spaceship Earth and we turned around and saw them in person. So cool!! :lmao: Wish I was a part of your family.....Would your siblings want another one??? I could blend in, couldn't I????

Kelli! My “cousin” LOL! :welcome: I’m so glad you made it over here! I’m sorry you may have to cancel your upcoming trip too! There has been a lot of that going around some of the PTRs I have been reading. I guess we have all been going through a lot of financial challenges recently. Well, I will certainly send my prayers, thoughts and wishes for some pixie dust to head your way too! Thanks for reading!

I am so excited about this potential June trip, Caroline, that I am about to burst! Yeah, you KNOW I’ll have a PTR and a TR if this happens. I really think it is a possibility because I really only have to pay for accommodations and meals since I’ll already have the APs. My youngest brother thinks he’s the grill master :lmao: so he will probably want to cook out several times, so that will also save money on meals :thumbsup2 I’m really optimistic that this is going to happen!

I will be completely unbearable with anticipation if this June trip pans out! :rotfl: I think you are right about the way to split the costs of accommodations – that seems like the most fair way. So after my upcoming ADR day, I’ll have a lot of time to dedicate to researching houses! I can’t wait! I took a peek at the link you gave me and I took a peek at All Star rental homes too, and they all look so nice! There is a lot of info out there, so I have a lot of (FUN FUN FUN!!!) research to do!

Yeah, it seems right to split it that way. And I did see at least one house with a full bed and a bunkbed in one room, then the other rooms had either queens or 2 twins. I think I’m going to get to put together a vacation home packet for my sibs to look through so that we can make a decision together! :yay: Should I do a Power Point presentation?!? JK!!! Or am I? :lmao: It’s too bad you didn’t get to tour with your brothers, but cool that you happened to see your brother and his wife on the globe! So cute!

You could definitely come and I’d say you all are our long lost half sister Ann, Peter and our cousin Victoria! They’ll never know the difference!

Should I do a Power Point presentation?!? JK!!! Or am I?

Have you SEEN Rebecca's (Sleepingbooty) PTR and TR from last September?!?!?! She really did do a power point and slide show for her family to choose resorts AND ADR's! :lmao: I could only be that organized in my dreams...I certainly have the Disney obsession level down already!

OMG are you serious? I have to read her PTR and TR now!

My baby, True, turned 8 on Sunday, so I would like to show you guys how we celebrated! First, let me say it was a crazy day and it was all my fault LOL! This was the kids’ weekend with their dad, but he was only keeping them until Sunday morning since I wanted to have some time with the kids for True’s birthday too. Then my ex texted me on Sunday morning and asked if I could pick the kids up from his apartment (instead of him dropping them off as planned) because his back was hurting. He also asked if I could pick them up in the afternoon since he hadn’t gotten a chance to take True to get her present yet. I agreed since it would give me more time to get things done before her party. So…since I had a little more time on my hands, I turned on the TV and I found a show on the science channel about how we are going to have a manned mission to Mars within the next 20 years…and my inner geek came out! It was so interesting! It was a one hour show, but then I looked at the guide and saw it was going to be a marathon! My intention was to watch the first two as I got ready and then DVR the rest, but then I dozed off during the second show! I woke up when the third show was ending! Oh no! LOL! So I got ready and texted my ex that I was on my way. I hadn’t gotten the cake yet or made any other preparations for the party, but I was going to be on time to pick up my kids because I missed them! They were only gone for a day and a half, but I missed them none the less.

I picked up the kids and True had a party bag with her and Coy had silly string. Coy sprayed silly string in the parking lot and I was so afraid it was going to get on a car! I asked him to put it away so he put it in True’s bag. I gave them big hugs and we got in the car. Next think I knew, True was spraying silly string out of our moving car! I asked her to put it away and she did – for about a minute. She sprayed it again, chuckling so hard, and I jokingly yelled at her, “Don’t make me yell at you on your birthday!” She laughed and rolled the window up. Then she told me that her dad took her and Coy to Chuck E Cheese the day before and all I could think was, “Thank goodness!” I can’t stand Chuck E Cheese! I’ve done SO MANY birthday parties for the kids there, so it’s not that I don’t like the place or that the kids don’t have fun – they do – it’s a great place, but it is so LOUD! I would leave there with a headache after each party LOL! So basically, I was glad their father took the bullet for me so that I could go ahead with my plans for her birthday!

True told me that she wanted to go to the zoo for her birthday, and we had plans to go with most of the family, but before we did that, I had to run some errands. I dropped True off to my mom at my house and Coy and I went on a mad dash to get party supplies. First we went to the grocery store to pick up the cake I ordered. Then we went to the party supply store to pick up a tablecloth, plates, balloons etc. Coy convinced me to get his tablecloth and plates too while we were there. Don’t try to tell me that he doesn’t have a Type-A personality! Haha! Since his birthday was coming up on Friday, I let him pick out that stuff as well as mints, a bowl for the mints and his wrapping paper! He said, “I don’t care if my wrapping paper isn’t a surprise. I’d rather know that I like how it looks.” OMG this kid is hilarious! Anyway, he also helped me pick out True’s balloons, so after all of that was done, we headed home.

By the time we got home, my brother “Louie” (as he was called in my other PTR) was there with his fiancée. So we stashed the party supplies and cake and headed out for the zoo! True wanted to ride with Louie and his DF, so I let her. It made her feel like a cool kid to ride with the twenty-somethings. My mom and Coy rode with me. My dad and my brother David (the one who is 3 years younger than me) opted out of the zoo and stayed behind to prepare the grill for dinner. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and it got up to about 70 that afternoon, It was nice to drive with my sunroof open and my windows down. We drove into DC and arrived at the National Zoo. We were meeting my sisters – known as “Huey” and “Dewey” in my other PTR – as well as Dewey’s boyfriend there. I found where my sister parked her car and got a spot next to her. Sweet! My brother, being more…frugal I guess is a nice word for it…wanted to find a spot on the street rather than pay for parking LOL! Gotta love him! But every little bit counts when he is paying off the ROCK that he gave his DF! LOL!

Anyway, I was trying to give you guys a break from my novel writing, but this has turned into a mini-TR, hasn’t it??? So, on to the pictures! OK, one more thing! Sorry – I ramble! Haha! So I brought that huge camera with me in hopes of getting some good shots. As I was taking pictures, I couldn’t see very well through the lens and I thought my pictures weren’t turning out too well. One good thing, though, was that it wasn’t as difficult to carry as I thought it would be – granted, it would’ve been easier if I had a camera strap or a bag. Anyway, I was uploading the pictures to my computer yesterday and I was a little concerned until I saw this:

I instantly fell in love with the camera that gave me such a beautiful picture of my daughter! Then I saw this:

Gorgeous, if I do say so myself! I was so happy to capture that moment of joy on True’s face! One more:

Something about that picture of her holding one of her balloons looks so pure to me. I can’t forget my son:

I think he looks like a male model! He just always has that pensive look.

I love daffodils! That’s the first real sign of Spring for me.

That is “Dewey” on the left wearing the black jacket. Her boyfriend is opposite her wearing the red. I wish I got a pic of his face because he is so handsome! Next to him is my sister “Huey” in the brown jacket. I think it is funny that both of my sisters are texting in this pic! They were really involved with True and the zoo trip, though, it was just cute to me to capture this moment of them being absorbed into technology! Haha! Hopefully, the Summer Sibling trip will actually happen so I can show you guys some more pictures of them and maybe give you real names. But hey, we’re at the zoo! I think it’s about time I show you some pictures of animals! LOL!

This is a picture of the birthday girl with her uncle “Louie” and his DF. I need a better picture of her too, but she was being camera shy that day LOL!:

More pics of the kids:

So that was our day at the zoo. True and Coy had a lot of fun – especially True because she was able to lead us around the zoo to see what she wanted to see. By the time we left, it was almost 7pm and the temp had dropped considerably. We headed home, but I wasn’t thinking that the Cherry Blossom Festival was still going on, so I made the mistake of turning down a major street in DC and we got stuck in major traffic. The following pictures were the only two pictures of the cherry blossoms that I got and they were taken from my car, through my windshield and with my camera phone!

Coy said he wanted to come back to DC for his birthday, so we’ll see if the weather holds up. So far, it looks like thunderstorms are expected, so I’m hoping the forecast changes. Anyway, the following pictures (as well as the ones in Part Two of this post) were also taken with my HTC Evo. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE my phone and the 8MP camera is great for a camera phone – but it doesn’t do well in the wrong lighting or if I’m taking an action shot. So here are some pictures of the party preparations I made after we got back from the zoo:

The Little Mermaid Cake that True requested:

Ariel and her “Dinglehopper” Haha!

The pretty marbleized balloons:

Continued in the next post: PARTY TIME!!!

After we got back from the zoo, my dad already had the coals in the grill heating up and Louie was seasoning the burgers. My mom and I were microwaving potatoes since time had really gotten away from me and I didn’t have time to bake the potatoes. I made my version of potato skins – which are baked potatoes, quartered, topped with mounds of cheddar cheese and crispy turkey bacon, finished off in the oven and then topped with sour cream. Mmm! I should mention that Huey, Dewey and her DBF went home, so they missed out on this half of the festivities. Also, True was getting POed that she couldn’t open her presents yet LOL! So after dinner, True tore into her presents! I’m about to show you evidence of this, but I’m sure you’ll notice the difference in the quality of the pictures compared to the previous post! Haha! Disclaimer: these were taken with my camera phone, so it is not as good at the action shots of True ripping through her wrapping paper. So after most of the pics, I’ll have another pic of what the present actually was LOL! It’s mostly Disney stuff, and who doesn’t like pics of Disney loot, right?

So that was a 2 deck set of Disney Princess playing cards and a small Rapunzel doll.

To encourage her crafty side, I got that set of bracelets for her to make. She’s already made 2 for me and quite a few for herself. They look good!

She also got Color Explosion Tinkerbell and Color Wonder Disney Princesses. Note the fake smile LOL! It wasn’t that she didn’t like them, it was that she wanted to tear into more presents and didn’t feel like posing for pictures!

These two pictures are also very telling:

She clearly wasn’t very pleased with having a box that had clothes in it. Like most kids, she doesn’t like getting clothes for presents, but…

She was much happier to see that her “boring” present of clothes was actually a t-shirt from Georgetown Cupcake! We have loved their cupcakes ever since my sister Dewey turned us on to them and we get some whenever we are in Georgetown. This was way before their show “DC Cupcakes” started airing on TLC, but once True saw that show, she became a huge fan! She was really happy about getting “Silverlicious” too. I actually put the book on top of the t-shirt so that she’d have two surprises in that box. She has that whole series of books – “Pinkalicious”, “Goldilicious” and “Purplicious” – and she wanted to sit back and read Silverlicious until she remembered she had other presents to open!

Finally, a genuine smile! The blur she was smiling about was this:

Her uncle, Louie, got her Zoobles. I had never heard of them before last Friday when she asked for them for her birthday. Now, between her uncle and her dad, she has three sets! I wish I had that kind of power of persuasion! LOL!

Another blurry pic, but I can make out that it is a friendship bracelet kit. I used to be OBSESSED with making friendship bracelets as a kid and I probably asked my mom at least once a week to take me to the craft store to by more embroidery floss for me! So I figured it was time for me to teach True how to make them.

That is a Rapunzel make up bag with some lip gloss, blush and nail polish. Maybe it’ll keep her out of my make up? Yeah, right LOL!

I’m not quite sure what this blur is, but through the process of elimination, I think it is:

A two sided Disney Princess dry erase board to hang on her bedroom door.

Finally we have a Tinkerbell activity board with 50 feet of coloring splendor! Haha!

With all of her presents calling to her, I had to convince True to cut her cake:

She did, and was the perfect hostess by passing out a slice to everyone. She was especially nice to Mama, giving me an end piece with TONS of frosting! It really was a wonderful day and True told me she had a fantastic birthday!

What great pictures of True's birthday. Can't wait to hear about Coy's.:thumbsup2

My kids birthdays are close to (but not quite as close). Aidan's bday is 2 weeks after Liam's, and Mia's is 3 weeks after that. The funny thing is that Rylan was actually due between his brothers birthday, but of course since he was early his bday is in March. Good thing to, because my dad asked me to try to space my kids out better.:lmao: It doesn't help him that my bday is a month after Mia's and my brothers is 18 days later. I guess you can say we have a pretty busy summer.:rotfl2:

I am so glad to hear about you planning a trip with your siblings next summer. I definatly agree that spliting it up per family is the way to go. You have room for your cousin Corrine, right?:rolleyes1

Oh, I love this.....I am the long lost sister and now Corrine is our cousin. Yeah!! My family is growing and I don't have to do anything!!! I am so glad I couldn't sleep so I was able to see all the wonderful pics of True's bday and read all about it. What a fantastic day you all had and I love all her gifts. Way to go all out Disney, huh?? Wow....True has certainly grown up beautifully. I know she's not grown, but there is such a difference from the pics you posted from your 2009 trip. Boy, they grow up fast, don't they? I'm glad she had a great day and got lots of nice presents. :goodvibes

WOOT! You KNOW I love photos and you really came through for me this time! What beautiful shots, now tell me what kind of camera you got! Is this the one you borrowed from a friend or did you purchase one?!??!

It looks like she had a wonderful birthday!!! :lovestruc

True had a wonderful birthday party!! :) What a lucky girl she is. The photos you took are wonderful. It seems that you are really close to your family. I think that's awesome!

What great pictures of True's birthday. Can't wait to hear about Coy's.:thumbsup2

Thank you!

Wow! You DO have a busy summer! One good thing about my kids' birthdays being only 5 days apart was that I used to be able to do a joint birthday party for all of their friends, but now that they're older, they don't want to have anything to do with that! True even said she doesn't want her friends to go to the laser tag party their dad is planning :confused3

I am so glad to hear about you planning a trip with your siblings next summer. I definatly agree that spliting it up per family is the way to go. You have room for your cousin Corrine, right?:rolleyes1

Of course we have room for cousin Corrine! Bring the kids too! With all of this new found family on the DIS, we'll have to get one of those fancy 8 bedroom houses! :rotfl:

Oh, I love this.....I am the long lost sister and now Corrine is our cousin. Yeah!! My family is growing and I don't have to do anything!!!

I'm glad my family is growing too! My sister Ann, my BIL Peter, my niece Victoria (I realized I called her my cousin earlier - probably because I have so many cousins!) and it's growing with such little effort :lmao: We've all been wondering when Dewey's DBF was going to propose and we were all shocked when Louie proposed to his DGF first! I actually think that Louie stole my sister's DBF's thunder because all signs have been pointing to THEIR engagement for months! True was hinting to him at the zoo that he needs to hurry up and ask Dewey because she wants more cousins (and I want a niece or nephew, darnit!) I'm willing to bet he'll propose within the year :lovestruc

I am so glad I couldn't sleep so I was able to see all the wonderful pics of True's bday and read all about it. What a fantastic day you all had and I love all her gifts. Way to go all out Disney, huh??

Thank you! True loves all things Disney, so it is easy to shop for her. Her stuff is also very cheap and most of the things I got her were $10 or less or from the dollar bin at Target! :thumbsup2 Now, Coy's presents on the other hand... Let's just say that one of his presents cost more than all of True's stuff put together. Darned video games :headache:

Wow....True has certainly grown up beautifully. I know she's not grown, but there is such a difference from the pics you posted from your 2009 trip. Boy, they grow up fast, don't they? I'm glad she had a great day and got lots of nice presents. :goodvibes

Aww, thanks again. It's funny you should mention how much she's grown because I measured her this morning just to be double sure that she could ride everything at Hershey Park. Their height requirement for the coasters is 54" and she is 55" in bare feet! :cool1: Then I measured Coy just to see how much he has grown and he is 63"! 63" as in 5'3" in bare feet!!! I'll have to post a picture of the three of us standing together so you can really see the difference!

WOOT! You KNOW I love photos and you really came through for me this time! What beautiful shots, now tell me what kind of camera you got! Is this the one you borrowed from a friend or did you purchase one?!??!

Thank you so much! It's the camera my friend let me borrow, so I really don't know what it is :lmao: According to Flickr, those pictures were taken with a Fujifilm FinePix S1 Pro. My friend also said that the lens on it is a telephoto lens, which was why I kept getting such terrible close-up shots at first :rotfl: So at the zoo, I discovered that if my subject was 10, 15 or 20 feet away, I could get a good picture! I'm hooked! I definitely have to save up to get a DSLR and a couple of lenses. I really hope I can do it before the trip, but if not, maybe I can get it for myself for a Christmas present :goodvibes

It looks like she had a wonderful birthday!!! :lovestruc

She really did have a great birthday. Thank goodness there was a teacher workday the next day and the kids didn't have to go to school because it ended up being a really late night! party:
