Theoretical Election Question

Almost everyone in my precinct had voted by the time I got there at 3:30. If everyone had voted by, say, 5:00, would the poll workers have to just sit there until polls officially closed at 7 or could they go ahead & pack things up & head home?

Also, do the polls close at 7 (or whatever time) or do the lines close at that time? When you're at WDW, if you get in line for Space Mountain at 10 on closing night, you may not actually ride until 10:30 or so, but you still get to ride. Is that how elections work?

They have to remain open until 7 after which they close to voting.

They would have to stay open in case anyone came that was not yet registered (and therefore not already on their list). At least in my state you can still register to vote today at the polls...

There was another thread about your second question that I saw earlier - looks like most states say that if you are in line to vote at poll closing time then you still get to vote.

I don't think that you can vote in Kansas unless you are already registered. I wonder if there ever has been a district that had every voter vote even by the end of the night. Your first question seems pretty unlikely. But, it would be great if that ever happened!
