I have read a lot on how great the theming is at VWL. I have never seen it yet, but I have been to the GC in DL. How do they compare? Which is better? They seem very similar to me....

Well I can't tell you about the rooms as we haven't stayed at the VWL, but the two resorts are very similar, same architect. We've had dinner in the restaurant and have taken the pontoon boat cruise from the marina. The backside of the resort faces the lake. What surprised us most about the resorts at WDW was how spread out they are. We were so used to the compact area of DL. I'm sure the VWL fans will give you some great info.

I've stayed at both, and my personal opinion is that WL/VWL wins easily.
WL/VWL is a giant log home, whereas the GC looks more like regular dark wood.
I also love the Native American aspect that's brought into the WL. Just look at those darn lights in the main lobby!

Both are great resorts! :smokin:

Both are great resorts, but we prefer GC. It feels more refined and less rustic than the WL. WL has Native American themeing, while the GC has an arts and crafts themeing, which is so well done. The restaurants at the GC are also much better than the ones at the WL, IMO. Being able to walk to Disneyland, DCA, and DD is also very convenient- no need for any bus rides.

I've stayed at both.
I don't really consider one better than the other. Similar but different.
Love them both. That being said, I'll take Bay Lake, the trails and beach at WL over DT Disney Cal any day!

Hmmmm, that's a tough one. I like the craftsman architecture of the GCH better than the log lodge architecture of the WL.

However, the WL has more of a "WOW" effect when you walk into the lobby and around the property.

I can tell you one thing though. The WL is priced a little better (although a little high in my opinion) compared to the GCH, which is ridiculously, outrageously overpriced!!!

Great thoughts on both resorts, does WL have the same Frank Lloyd Wright influence in the details?

We have stayed at both and like them equally. GC has that great outdoor fireplace, right where the new DVC/hotel wing is being built. WL has the indoor hot springs that flow outside, to the waterfalls.
