Themeparkland/flightshop in closed down

I booked with mercurytravel.net this week and they were showing the same prices as themeparkland. Boy am i glad i went with mercury! I am so sorry but hope this info will help.

Claire.

If you go to www.virgintravelstore.co.uk they will match the lowest price you can find online for any attraction ticket they sell as long as it is ABTA bound agent. You just fill in a form at the attraction ticket section of the web site, and they call you back.

And there arent many safer companys than Virgin to buy your tickets from.

Just off the phone to them and was told I should get my tickets shortly. They are waiting to be told whether to issue them from the old stock or the new company's stock!!!

Fairy tale or truth? I'll let you all know

Lorraine,
I picked up the details off the DIBB it jumped out at me as I almost ordered from them myself 2 weeks ago. At the last minute I went fro Ticketmania. I have not got my tickets yet but they have been posted so I am hoping tomorrow will be the day.
I thought someone on this board might want the info which was why I posted, hope it has helped although its not a pleasant detail to post ( dont shoot the messenger)!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I feel so sorry for the people here that have possibly lost their money:( It happened to me last year with a car hire company.Although I eventually got the original car hire cost back from MBNA I was over £100 short on the cost of hiring the car at the airport when I found out my voucher wouldn't be honoured.A salutory reminder.

I hope you all get your monay back, fingers crossed::yes::

One tip for Keith Prowse,I tell them a fictional departure date for my holiday (about 2 weeks earlier),that 10 day thing is too close to the wire for me!

Hi

I also phoned Themeparkland again today. I was told that' they were waiting to be told what to do and would phone everyone and let them know'!!!!!!!

expatscot - I don't dispute what you say, but ABTA said on Friday that the Administrators had been in and they were the ones who had sent out what tickest there were. I would very much guess that if administrators have been involved, it will may be unlikely that the new company will pick up the bill of fulfilling all the ticket orders.

Tomorrow I'm going to call ABTA and hopefully get a definite state of play from them. I'm quite happy if ABTA are going to re-imburse me (or my credit card company), but i really don't want to be having any further dealings with Themeparkland.

I consider myself one of the 'fortunate' ones. I'm not going on holiday until December and my 'loss' is 'only' £220. I am a bit p****d off though as I wanted to buy the special offer US passes - 2day +5 free which apparently have to be purchased by 30th June.

Still, hopefully all will be clearer tomorrow. (sounds like the words to a song:teeth: :teeth: )

Fairy Tale or Truth? - I'm sorry I meant were ThemePark land telling me a fairy tale or the truth - I firmly believe they are bust! (unfortunately). Like you Mpet, its only £250 for me, bt its just the hassle and the principal of it. Here's hoping!

expatscot - knew what you meant - they certainly sound genuine when you talk to them. My way of thinking is if it had been a straight buy out, we wouldn't have heard anything about it and ABTA certainly wouldn't be offerring to make refunds and advise where replacement tickets can be bought.

Good Luck tomorrow

Maxine:D

Ive lost my money too abta say they will refund my credit card but does anyone know if the special offers are still running anywhere??I was scraping the barrel as it is god im soooo poor!!

A few places (including the PO and Keith Prowse are offering it but only till tomorrow). The question is do we buy again today (if we,ve enough credit!!) or might we end up with two lots of tickets?

Good luck to everyone caught up in this

Just spoken with ABTA who said go ahead and rebook the tickets with someone else. If by some remote chance I should end up with two sets of tickets (LOL) ABTA will take them back and refund the money.

They are sending me a letter to send to the CC company who will refund the money. If anyone has any dispute with the CC company over whether tickets of this nature are covered ABTA will take it up with the CC company as they are jointly liable. All very reassuring. I just hope it all goes to plan.

My heart goes out to all those flying this week who simply can't afford to buy new tickets and wait for their claim to be settled.:(

Me again!!

Keith Prowse have extended the offer date for the 2park/3day ticket (plus 11 days free) Universal Pass till 31.10.04. Perhaps they heard about all this! Their price is £69 just £5 more that Themeparkland. Dont know how their Disney ones compare though.

:D

I too called The Flight Shop yesterday (27th) and a girl answered saying "Good Afternoon, The Flight Shop" as if it was a normal phone call!!

She told me that everyone was going to get a phone call today to let us know when our tickets are being sent.

So I eagerly charged my mobile and have had it switched on beside me all morning (its now 1:45pm and no such call!!).

Also phoned ABTA again yesterday and they said that although The Travel Company have bought CTI Leisure, they wont take over their debts.

So it looks as though I'll be phoning ABTA tomorrow for a claim form. I know at some point I will get a refund, but like everyone else its the "special" US/IOA tickets I will lose out on.

If it wasnt for these boards (and Poet specifically!!), I still wouldnt have known officially about all this.

Anyway, if I DO get my phone call, I'll let you know whats said.

I am really sorry to hear of all your problems.

It might be worth checking www.ticketmania.com I have used them in the past with no problems and recieved the tickets within 7 days.

Sorry again

From Ticketmania the aldult buy 2 get third day free ticket is $96 which is about £48 at the moment.

Hi

How did you manage to get through to ABTA. I've been trying to call and all I get is 'hold music' as everyone is busy - I wonder why.

I actually held for 15mins the last time before giving up!!!!
