Theme?

Do we have to have a theme?

DF and I seriously are struggling with this. I cannot think of a "theme".

Df would like something to do with the beach. I would like to avoid sand or shells. I'm from a farm, he's from a beach. That doesn't mesh into a cute centerpiece!

Help? Our parents think we need a "theme".....My theme is "It's my princess day. Just deal".

No you totally don't need a theme. Picking a couple of colors and a neutral shade to go with them can help narrow things down and unify the look, but don't get stressed out about doing what other people think is necessary for a wedding. Maybe your theme could be not having a theme!

we have two colors! A soft yellow and carolina blue along with a dove-grey/silver.

Try and think of something you both like...
and have fun with it!

We liked the beach wedding theme idea but like you I'm not into shells and sand. However, I did like the theme of pirate. (Plus we're huge Pirates of the Caribbean fans) Adding personal touches can help soften a harsh theme as well.
Like for us, yes we are doing a pirate theme, but making it elegant by using deep red roses, candlelight, cute mini treasure chest favors, etc.

We aren't having a theme simply because we couldn't think of something we'd be happy with forever!

We are using 2 colors and incorporating them into the places we can- invites, ribbon wands, flowers, attire, etc. This is just way easier than doing a theme for us!!

We are also keeping things personal by picking important music to us, a fun cake topper, etc.

I agree, you don't really need a "theme." I personally think themes only work if you REALLY theme it out, a-la-David Tutera. Your theme can most certainly be "it's my princess day, so deal" or "This is stuff I like!"

Or, you know, you could do like "Cow Goes to the Beach"

THAT's it. I'm doing "Cow goes to the beach". What a theme!

We're going a bit Victorian. I didn't pick the theme; it just kind of happened. All of my accessories and dress, using the Pavilion and the Grand, and having roses . . . my mom picked up on it, and it stuck!
