This is true. When we went in 1974, there was a miles-long approach off 192, then a tram from the parking lot. Then the monorail. Finally, the park. Getting there was really half the fun. Once inside, there was no Space Mountain, no Thunder Mountain, no Splash Mountain, no Pirates. No fireworks. No parade. My photographs from that trip consist of the cars on the speedway, and Snow White posing out front.
After the arrival, our day's highlight was stopping off at the CR lobby and hearing a mariachi band echoing through the lobby.
Today's angst about ME means half the fun of getting there is gone. OK, there are some people who get turned on when they see the entrance signs. They don't know the half of it.
