Are there any good DVDs about the rides and/or attractions in the theme parks? I've noticed something about a "Walt Disney Parks and Resorts DVD Collection" but am not sure if it is a Disney-sanctioned product. Can anyone tell me what these are and what's on them? Are they worth the price? (we have the Sing-Along DVDs that highlight many areas, but am specifically trying to find something that showcases the Studios and Epcot).

TIA

this is a great one Modern Marvels; WDW (I love this one)

This one is talked about a lot (also on the DISboard) 27 DVD set

and then there is a great DVD set from WDW itself. (5 DVD's; One for each WDW park and one for Disneyworld)

I've seen in our resort gift shop a black DVD. I wanted to buy it but I had no idea what was on it.

Sorry I can't provide you with the title.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I think there's a picture of fireworks on top

Not everyone is blown away by this set, though. We returned ours.

Explain? I would like to know what you thought about it. (I want the set - some day - if my bank lets me :teeth: )

Why didn't you like it?

This is the one I keep eyeing. Can anyone tell me what's on it? Please?

The 5-Disc DVD set is really a waste of money. I bought it purely because I am obsessed with anything Disney. Each disc is literally 30 minutes (or less) long. They don't show you everything at the parks, and even the things they do show you are just glanced over. The special features on the discs are lame and under 3 minutes each. Honestly, the Sing-A-Long Songs DVDs are much better, because they're actually entertaining.

..Oh! And if you do get the set, beware of the Disney Studios DVD...it barely covers any rides and focuses on a story that they created with very VERY annoying characters.

(by the way, yes this is the official set...)

Exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you very much.

DW got me the "official" Epcot DVD for Christmas. It was a nice overview of the park, but largely spoiled by an extremely annoying host playing the role of a loopy scientist. Not the actor's fault, but the director and script writer should be hung from the Wand on SSE!

This type of thing is soemthing everyone has wanted and Disney continues to fail at. Honestly, I think they want to NOT have anything like this avaiable

Relive the Magic is essentially a person with a very high-end camcorder recording 95% of the rides, attractions, shows, everything. I have always wanted to do this when I was there but I hate carrying and using a recorder that much. If what you want is to see the rides, get it. It isn't great and not professional in the purist sense but it is good. Check out Lou Mongello's Disneyworldtrivia.com. He put up a full review that I agree with.

Now this brings me to Extinct Attractions Club. I have yet to receive my first of theirs, but go to their page and check out the previews...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Dr. Sci N. Tific? Yeah, the actors in the Studios DVD is 43X more piercing. Which is sad, because the Streemosphere actors are usually really good at the parks!

Yeah, that 5 DVD set is a complete waste of money. I dropped the $100 on it during my last trip and it turns out to be little more than a glorified Disney Vacation Planner. Funny how Disney actually got me to PAY for a bit of thier advertisment.

Anyway, someone mentioned the Modern Marvels DVD. I highly suggest this one. I have it and have watched it at least 10 times all ready. It's long, in-depth, and incredibly interesting as it recounts park history, offers trivia, behind the scenes looks and a fairly comprehensive "how they did that" for just about all the big attractions right now. I dont think anyone would be disappointed.

Also, you guys may be interested in the videos offered by The Extinct Attractions Club. I actually just ordered 5 DVDs from these guys. They arent sanctioned by Disney, but they offer documentaries on all of Disney's extinct attractions, often interviewing the imagineers who were responsible for planning and building the attractions. They've even had Roy Disney himself on a few DVDs. It's really interesting stuff from the looks of it, but when I get my DVDs in the mail, I'l offer a more specific review.
