"Theme" for 2010

Not that I recall. I wouldnt be suprised if they let the current promo run into 2010, and then begin some sort of 40th anniversary thing that they drag out 18 months...

My oldest has decided to go into the marines (will not be leaving until March). His Birthday is JAnuary 1 and I thought with the current promotion that would be a nice surprise for him to go on his birthday for a kind of "last" family vacation before he leaves.

i will be there for my b-day in Jan 2010 so I hope they keep it running

i think they'll probably keep the same campaign as this year. MISICI & Celebrate Tonight! would be gone if that were the case...well Celebrate Tonight! should be gone anyway :)

I like MISICI, so hopefully they would just keep the same thing next year so they wouldn't have to spend so much money on new things for one year and then go all out for a 40th anniversary in 2011

I just booked for April/May 2010 trip, and sounds like it will stay the same, at least until then. I was asked by the CM "What will you celebrate" while on your trip? Since we "celebrated" during our last trip, I was hoping for a new theme, but am happy for those who were hoping to "celebrate" during this upcoming year!!!

Who Knows What EVIL Lurks In The Heart Of Disney Marketing?!

When Disney feels ready to implement their next promotion they will do so. If other recent promotions have been any indication, for about the first month nobody will really understand it and the Marketing people will not have thought out all the ramifications.

I'm hoping it's the same. When we went in Jan I was disappointed that all the decorations and mugs were still YOAMD. I want my Celebrate mug! Plus we're going during my DH's bday again and it would be nice to get that bday fun card again!

My guess is it will be the same because when I made our 2010 reservation she asked if we were celebrating anything and when we received the e-mail confirmation it said celebrating 1st visit and a birthday. Why would they do that if they were not continuing into next year?

I would love it because I am celebrating my 40th next year and I told my DH I wanted a trip to the Grand Floridian. He told me fat chance.........big meanie!!

Disney's new " 1 for 2 promotion"

Starting in January of 2010, Walt Disney World gleefully introduces the 1 for 2 promotion. Visitors to "The World" may now buy two tickets but only receive 1 entry to the park for that amount. In addition, guests may also book resort rooms for twice the "rack rate." A high level Disney official was quoted as saying," We know that guests have fun in our parks, now if they pay twice as much, they will have twice the fun!!!!" When asked what brought about this promotion, manager replied," Our guests demanded it!!!"

Walt Disney World 2010 " Twice is nice!!!!"

rotfl wouldnt suprise me if it happened xD

I hope they change it because we're planning a trip to the world in April and we've been to DLR 5 times this year and kind of sick with the parade (kind of is a major understatement) I loved the 50th ann. parade.

A bus driver told me they were using one of the songs from Snow White

"Ho Hum Ho Hum, there nothing new to be done!"

I agree with Deej696...

the celebration theme may last a bit into next year...but I think they will have a multi-year celebration around the 40th anniversary. I think this is why Disney has announced nothing new in over a year. (I don't count American Idol, blech.) I think they will have a multi-layered roll-out of new attractions starting late 2010 through 2011. They are also doing this to have things coming through to compete with Harry Potter. Similar to '05-'06, we will see an announcement of something coming to all 4 parks, be it new rides / shows or the seemingly likely Fantasyland expansion. My prediction is this will all be announced at the D23 convention. By dropping a bombshell like that at D23, they will ensure that Disney fanatics will want to attend every year.

OR...at some point I predict we will see a return of "The Year of A Million Dreams" promotion. That promotion was hugely popular and for the most part gave away stuff that cost Disney nothing at all. (Magic FPs, certificates and ears.) However, I think that will wait until after the 40th anniversary.

... You know ABC has that game with the obstacle course over the water (Big balls, sweeper arms, etc.)... that would make a sweet day trip in a new water park... :thumbsup2

A great way to bring a new attraction to the world

Congrats to your son!

I hope it changes. I don't really like this Celebrate thing. I'm partly selfish because I'm getting married at Disney next year, and with this celebration thing it's done away with a lot of speicalness of getting married/honeymooning at Disney.

Maybe they could NOT do a celebration. That would be cool.

Getting married at Disney is not special because you are the only one. (When there, you will see at least 200 other couples with Mickey wedding ears.) It's special because you are getting married and it's Disney. The current celebration has not changed the #s at all.
