Them - So didn't you just go to Disney World???

"There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who think Walt Disney World is the most amazing place on earth, and those who have never been."

Great quote! And so true. My husband refused to go for years and could not understand the appeal. He had never been. He finally agreed to go now that we have a child. He made it clear we were going for me and for the child and that he was sacrificing his vacation for us. Well he ended up loving it and saying it was one of the best vacations he ever took!

I basically keep my trips quiet these days, because I just don't want to hear it. "How many times have you gone?" "You never even had any kids, why would you go without kids?" "Didn't you just go there?" Blah, blah, blah.... That, plus all the relatives and friends I have in Florida that think I should go traipsing around the state when I only have a week to spend in WDW, they want me to visit them. Nope. I don't rent a car, and I'm just going to Disney. Period. So, people pretty much find out if/when I post a photo on my social media. Any comments I don't like, I ignore. WDW time is my time, and I am not sharing it.

Truthfully, I was one of these people. I never even considered going as an adult until I had a kid. But now DS and I are hooked, DH not so much, but he goes for us and I set him up with things he'll enjoy, like his favorite restaurants and watersports. My mom was surprised I wanted to go back so soon, but honestly, when you only get a few precious weeks of vacation a year, do you want to spend them in the boring hometown you spent your youth dreaming of escaping, or DISNEY?

Whenever we get this I just say let me plan your next vacation. I will make your dining plans, fastpass and send you a touring plan. Follow it and you will love it = this is not Six Flags. Also we need to start planning now - at least 6 months out!

I'm going to be dealing with that again this year....since we went this year and will be going back next year. They really just don't get it...but I LOVE that my hubbs and parents do! I'm a lucky gal!

I love the eCards that support us Disney nerds!

Our cousins are always surprised that we would rather spend Christmas at WDW than with the cousins.

We have a carpenter who understands. Yesterday, he put a deposit down for his next WDW trip. This morning we heard all about it and celebrated with him!

I'm with "them". Disney is great; just went in June, but I'm good for at least 3 years. Too many other places to see and experience.

I spent my whole life dreaming of going to Disney World. Watching tv shows about WDW, watching shows were people went to WDW (I grew up in the 90s, all the shows went to WDW!),and reading every book the library had about WDW. We didnt have a lot of money when I was a kid so a Disney trip was just too expensive. I was finally able to go for the first time Oct 2014 with my DF and 2 DDs. My DF and I went back in Oct 2015 and are going back with the girls in May of 2016, when I plan on buying an annual pass. When people ask me how I can go back again and again and spend so much time researching WDW I tell them, "Imagine a place that you build up and dreamed about for your entire life but never get to see and when you finally get there its everything you hoped for and more. Im addicted to the feeling I have when Im there. That's why I go back. Its the most magical and wonderful place on earth. The real question is why haven't you gone yet?"

I have been 3 times this year and am headed down for my 4th December 11th. People keep asking me why an adult enjoys it so much. I just know that the past year and a half/two years have been pretty rough for me and Disney is my escape. I stay busy and don't think about all of the stress in my life. Buying that annual pass on a whim back in April was such a great decision! There is just something about Disney that takes my stress away. I have a high stress job along with a lot of personal stress in the last couple of years and Disney has been my bright spot. I can't wait to one day have my own family to take there to share the magic with.

Hahaha....I haven't been in years and people still think I'm nuts for wanting to go and take my kids (for the first time)! A lot of them say "aren't you sick of it since you've been so many times?" Others ask if it's worth it to spend that kind of money for an amusement park. I tell them that going to visit my parents costs my family $1500 and all we do is sit in a house and talk. I think the money spent on Disney is a little more reasonable in that light!

The only reaction we have ever received was when we have told people we went to Disney World without the kids.

I don't agree with that at all. There's a lot of people who have been to WDW and didn't like, and have never gone back. There's others who go back because they have to go (spouse is a big WDW fan, etc.) It's not for everyone. That's why I don't bother trying to explain why we vacation there, and yes even without kids. People who "get it" don't ask why, they understand.

When we went To Disney World last October, we went with the attitude 'our first and only time'. It's not because we thought we'd be bored after one time, but we knew it would be costly. Well, we had the absolutely best vacation, and now it's 'when we go back'. We will be returning (most likely Disney World but could be Disneyland instead). But there is the reality that it is very $$$ (especially as we need to pay for flight too). We have a big vacation planned for Spring 2016 (Royal Caribbean cruise)....so it won't be for another few years. But just knowing we will be returning is exciting and comforting. Again, it may be our last time, but we'll see.

DH and I went for our honeymoon in April (his first on-site visit). When I started my new job and I told my boss where we honeymooned, she said "ugh, that's the last place I'd ever want to go." Ok... good for you. :confused3

I cannot wait to go back even though I know it will probably be 2017 at least since we have some adulting to do before then (just bought a house). Still, there are days where I don't think I could make it through the work day without these boards and looking up Disney vacation prices.

What it all boils down to is it's no one's business what people decide to spend their money on and where people decide to go on vacation. My husband and I do not currently have children, but WDW is both of our favorite places to visit. If I want to visit WDW 3 times a year then I will; I will not justify it to anyone.
