The4OfUs...."Romantic Escape at Sea" Pkg

I booked the package last week. I sent my TA my reservations for each rotation early seating. I thought I would have PLA based on our kids ages and we did but sent our preferences for each rotation. I was able to book Palos dinner, high tea, brunch, and our 1 couples spa treatment. Very simple and easy, now we can board without the ressie scramble, yipee!

I think it is worth it

Just want to get one thing straight....you said you were able to book your couples massage before boarding? There seem to be conflicting reports of this here. I'm just a little confused.

Yes, absolutely. The things that couldn't be booked are any OTHER than the treatments included in this package, apparently. :) Im not surprised, because when I was done, they made a show of handing me the bill (politely, don't get me wrong) and pointing out that I had to sign it, even tho the cost of the treatment would not be charged to my account, because the spa is a seperate company from the cruise line. And of course, they left room for the gratuity, which I gladly added in. :)

To those of you that have already done this, did you have to wait for someone to call you to make the ressies, or were you able to make them by calling yourselves?

If you went thru a travel agent, you have to have them do it for you, you can't.

Juli booked it on her own, and I think waited, but then called to check on it? If you get within the 30 day window, I'd call just to make some noise, as that's when they start booking (my TA said 45-30 days out they were going to fax Palo ressie forms, so it might even be earlier).

Yes, I was supposed to wait for someone to contact me the week before the cruise. We were leaving a few days prior to the cruise so I called and told them I needed to have someone call me before then. Got the call the next day from the DCL Dining coordinator.

Sorry if there's been confusion about the spa treatments. You can choose one of two spa treatmenst with the REAS package: the Couples Spa Taster (massage/facial combo) or the Couples Well-Being Massage. My DH didn't want anything to do with a spa treatment so they let me book 2 for myself. The choices were still the same, so I picked one of each. It made the bills a bit confusing and they didn't get it straight, but accounting had it straight when we lef the ship.

Juli

Just to clarify....I booked the Couples Well-Being Massage when I made all the other ressies with DCL Dining. They weren't able to split things for me individually, prior to boarding, when I told her DH didn't want to do the couples thing. I had to take that up with the spa directly on the ship. Not a problem though once I got there.

Geez, I feel like I'm being so confusing today.

Another something that may be confusing you. We booked our cruise via Disney Vacation Club using our points. Initially, I had to call DVC to add the REAS package, but after that all my communications about it were with DCL directly. I think if you go through a travel agent, they will have to be your contact on this for everything.

Juli

Juli, I also booked my cruise and the REAS thru the DVC. The person on the phone was great, but really didn't know too much about how the REAS ressies worked and she had to call the cruise line to get the info. What she said was that DCL would call me 30 days prior to arrange. Was this your experience? Should I be calling them just to be sure? Also when they do call, any advice about the dining rotation pick? Thanks,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,
I booked 2 weeks prior so I couldn't wait 30 days! LOL! I had to call and ask for them to call me since we were leaving for FL several days before the cruise. It sounds like they do call within that 30 day time frame though. If you need to talk to them sooner for some reason, just call and ask.

Dining Rotation suggestions. I'll tell you what I "know" and you should search the boards for more ideas. What I've heard is that the early APLAPLA rotation gets the most kids and based on our most recent cruise it sure seemed like it to me. The noise level was high! Of course, that was a plus when our kids were loud. No one noticed! Supposedly most adult only parties or parties with older kids end up with the late LAPLAPL rotation.

OK, here's how I picked our rotation. I wanted to be in Lumieres for formal and semi-formal nights and I didn't care for the Mexicalifragilistic menu at PC so I thought we'd go to Palo on that 5th night. What I did was find copies of the menus online and decide which menu or restaurant we wanted to skip and went from there. I got fairly tired of going to AP 3 times (you only get the light show on the first night you are their early in the week), so if I had to do it again, I may choose LAPLAPL just to get in L 3 times. PC on formal night seems a bit wierd though. OK, hope this doesn't confuse you.

Thanks for everyone's info!! I thought of skipping Tropicali dinner too, for Palo! Did you book you spa day for a day when you were at sea? What about your breakfast in room? Thanks for the help!!

I booked my spa stuff for Monday, our first day at sea, yes, but I could have done any of them, booking early you have more choice. I figured it'd be nice on a day I didn't have other things to choose from. And the breakfast in the room you can choose any morning you want, just let room service know the night before and they slip the menu under the door for you. :)

Does anyone know where can I get a description of the two different spa treatments offered?

Thanks!

The4OfUs.....................
I didn't realize you could request dining rotation with this.
Did you tell your TA what you wanted or request it when you requested your ressies?

I'm just asking because I requested a rotation and our TA said Disney said it was not gauranteed.......

I booked the 3/14 wonder through DVC too and just added the REAS package last week. The person at DVC was good but they put you on hold and contact DCL to book the package( and she didn't know much about the package I tod her what it included). I was told DCL will contact me for specific choices for Palo and the spa treatments. I will probably call them myself this week as I want to make sure this isn't "lost" somewhere. Have I said that "I can't wait for 3/14". By the way our kitchen is being torn out starting tomorrow for renovation and the dog was sprayed by a skunk first thing this morning. I really need a cruise!!!!

The4ofus- Thanks for the quick response!! I just have a couple of questions. We are trying to decide which night to choose Palo. When was the "Who wants to be a mouseketeer" show on your cruise? The reason I ask is that I am trying to decide if we(kids included 8,and 11yrs) would want to go. I wouldn't want to have a Palo ressie and have to rush back for this or any other good show!We were also thinking maybe to go on our first night because we would want the kids to get into their club on the fist night to meet up with other kids. I am sooo confused!!Thanks for your help AGAIN!!

Hmm, we didn't see that one, sooooo...*checks navigators*

It was SUnday. We missed out because we are Pats fans and it was the Superbowl. :)

Thanks again for your excellent info. Regerding, REAS I had the same info. given to me by DVC, to wait till DCL called me. I just called myself to see if I could set it up and they said to wait until the concierge called me at 30 days out, hope that helps!!!

....
Juli

P.S. Palo offered a tongue in cheek service of tossing the beepers overboard for parents out for a night alone! [/B]

But that will be an additional $150 replacement charge for the beeper.

But seriously, tell the kid's clubs that you are at Palo, they try not to page you.

Hey Debbie, better than some friends of ours, got their kitchen remodeled because a skunk got in and sprayed it. And on the night of the "house warming" party another skunk got into the new kitchen! They got everyone out of the house and had to wait for the skunk to leave on its own. The Forestry service, etc, could not touch the skunk because it was an endangered variety, a spotted skunk. Took a couple days for it to leave.

Just called DVC to make the REAS, and the DCL rep told her it was $499. I said, "No, that's not right." After a few minutes, she found out that I was correct and we are booking it as I type this!

Can't figure out for the life of me why DCL rep misquoted but it's best to get your facts ahead of time and thank you so much The4OfUs for getting the FACTS!!!!!

Hugs,
Rae (a Pat's fan since Grogan was the QB!)
