Welcome back!!

Hope your trip was great.

Update us on the Romantic Escape at Sea pkg.

Is the Palo fee included and how was the pkg in general? worth it?

Hi guys!

OK, here's a quick update, I have photos that I'll upload and include tomorrow...

Yes, the Palo fee for DINNER is included. For brunch, no, it was $10 per person.

The basket when you arrive in the stateroom is a beautiful flat basket with metal hearts around the edge, and it had a bottle of champagne, a heart shaped box of chocolates, and a photo album, metal front where you can put in a picture, with Mickey and Minnie up front, and a velvet backing, and inserts for 4x6 photos.

Reservations were ALL set, all perfect, and they even called the room the first night to confirm them with us.

Spa packages, they offered a choice of two, the full body massage, or the spa taster, which includes 25 mins of back/body massage, and a full facial, with a scalp massage as well.

Turn down night was the same night as the Palo ressies...they left a trail of rose petals from the hallway right in front of the door in to the bed, and on the bed they had a towel "sculpture" of 2 swans kissing, as well as two towels in heart shapes filled with rose petals.

The champange breakfast in bed was arranged by visiting guest services, and they called room service for us. There was a special room service breakfast menu delivered under the door and it included eggs of any style, and many other choices that were not in the normal "breakfast" room service menu for those not booked in the Concierge rooms.

I have photos of everything, including the two different menus (the normal one and the special breakfast).

We ordered breakfast for the kids off that one too, simply by adding a few more dishes and side orders...two HUGE trays showed up the next morning. Oh and they block out the early options, the earliest we could get it is 8am, I guess they assume you want to sleep in? Or actually it's probably that this is when Lumiere's opens *grin*

Was it worth it? Well, I think so, absolutely. Not only were all these things included, we also had the absolute luxury of walking on board knowing that everything was set for us in terms of reservations. We saw a poster for the spa taster treatment for couples on Castaway Cay for $230 - not sure how much it was on board, didn't even have to look, which was very cool.

As I said, photos to come, too tired to deal with anything tonight...I need a vacation to recover from this vacation, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Night all!

Thank you for the update! Sounds awesome and worth every cent spent!::yes::
I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again!!:Pinkbounc

Thanks for the report, I've been waiting for you to get back :) So glad to hear you thought it worth it. All of our ressies are set and it is a great feeling. Now I just have to wait to get onto the ship......

LOL! We're on deck 5. We can't wait as this will be the first cruise for us.
87 days and we'll be at the Radisson! Can't wait!:boat:

Some photos...I'll put them in the thread, but if it's too big, let me know and I'll edit them to just point to a link?

First off...the basket that was waiting in the stateroom upon embarkation.

A bottle of Korbel, a nice photo album, and a heart shaped box of chocolates.

On the night of the Palo dinner, the turndown started with this in the hallway...

Understated but cute!

Opening the door led to this (sorry for the dark picture!!)

and then the "turndown" looked like this:

Here's a closeup of one of the towel hearts that was filled with rose petals:

On the evening before the morning we chose for the breakfast in bed (which, as I noted, we shared with the kids...I figured they had to feed them either way, so why not let them share this part of the excitement, right? They had no problems with this, btw...) this was slid under the door...

And for those who haven't done this (and aren't in the Concierge rooms, where I bet this isn't really a "cool" thing), here's the "normal" breakfast menu - continental breakfast - so you can compare and see the differences in the two offerings. LOTS more on the champagne breakfast menu to choose from!

Hope you can read them!

Things I thought were included from reading other posts - a day in the rainforest room? We didn't get anything stating this...but I didnt' check on it either, not enough time to do such a thing for me... Tea roses? I think Elijah's Grandpa showed a photo that had those, so I thought we might get those...

Be sure to check with your stateroom host/hostess to ensure that they know you have this package, and what night your Palo ressies are! BTW, we had to sign to acknowledge receipt of the basket, etc. :)

Hope this helps anyone considering this!!

And you paid $299 for this?! WOW!

*grin* is that a GOOD or bad wow? Part of the $299 was the spa treatment (and you weren't going to get any pics of me during THAT! *wink*) and also the ability to set all your ressies before hand (including the spa, and any that you wanted at Palo's) - AND the ability to choose your own dinner rotation. We didn't do that, but others on the cruise iwth us who had this did. We ended up with LAPLAPL, which worked out fine. I'd have prefered a different one on "formal" night, but... *shrug*

You have just convinced me about this! As soon as I find out what rotation I want!!!

You have done so much to give us this information and I thank you for everything. No, don't want to see pictures of you in the Vista Spa!!!! But thanks for the offer! ; )

Again, thank you from all of us who were curious!!!! Have you thought about a little sideline job of "selling this package" for DCL?

Rae

LOL! Rae, you're too cute....you should hear me talk about the Disney Vacation Club...I get all teary eyed when I talk about how much I love that, and go on and on....

I'm more than glad to share this, I know that when I was getting ready, these boards and the people on it were INVALUABLE to helping me decide what to do and not do, what to bring and not bring, and I can honestly say I didn't over or underpack a single thing...and that all the tips I read were BEYOND helpful. My MIL, who is a travel agent and a cruise afficianado (sp?), was very impressed with many of the things we got off this board that she had never heard of, and is now going to use...you guys are great!!

When did you make your Palo & Spa reservations? Before or after embarkation?

Thank you so much for all the details. This seals the deal --- we're going to add on this package for next March.

THANKS!

We booked all that about 3 weeks before embarkation. My TA said that they do that in a 30-45 day window...they were supposed to fax her a form, but they didn't, so she called for us about 30 days before we left, and someone from Disney dining on board called her back, and we set it all up that way.

Of course, being the worry wort that I am, I DID go to the Palo ressies line when we got on board, just to check that they actually worked...there were only 3 people in line so it took 2 seconds to find out that yes, everything was confirmed. I also went to check on the spa stuff, but THAT line was long and each person seemed to take forever, so I left that one, and called them later in the afternoon to confirm my treatment!

Oh...one more thing...when you get in for the spa treatment, you are offered two packages - the full body massage, or the spa taster, which is a back of the body massage, followed by flipping over and a facial and scalp massage. That was AMAZING. So you do get a choice once you're in the actual room, which was nice.

The4OfUs:

Thank you SO MUCH for all of the information and the great pictures!! It sounds like you had a wonderful cruise!!! :)

The4OfUs....Thanks again for the info and great pictures. You certainly answered questions for those of us who needed info on this pkg.

I think it's worth the money::yes::

Gosh, what a difference between the 'normal' breakfast and the 'special' champagne breakfast.... It'll be nice to have that one morning:Pinkbounc

I'm so glad we added this package:lovestruc

And these boards are great! The information is endless, the people are wonderful:earsgirl:

Sounds like you had a great time:teeth:

Thanks so much for the info. I've been debating whether to order this or not and you helped me make up my mind. DH has said he will try a spa treatment (that took lots of asking!) and knowing the Palo ressies are taken care of is nice. Our 20th anniversary is 1 month after we cruise so this will be an early celebration! Thanks again. And have I said...I can't wait until 3/14!

:groom: :bride: 20 years!

thanks for all of the pictures and info. i am really thinking about doing the pkg. for our cruise in may

Hi Nikki!
Thanks for the pics! Gave me a chance to relive our cruise.

I was on the same cruise as Nikki and we also had the Romantic Escape at Sea. I'm glad I booked it, but DH, who is an accountant and financial manager wasn't thrilled about the extra cost. He did agree that prebooking everything was a huge plus though. I love the basket and picture album and the kids ate all the chocolates. The champagne is in our fridge for another day! I brought it home in my carry-on!

Some things that were different for us. DH didn't want to go to the massage, so the Spa let me book two treatments. One was the Spa Taster which was fabulous as Nikki said, and the other was the Well-Being massage. Two massages in the week for me! Incredible. This was charged against our package so I only had to tip the technicians at the spa. They were very gracious about this, but couldn't allow me to book anything outside of these two items even if the cost was lower. I was happy with both. :sunny:

Our rose petals were floating in our tub! Ha-Ha!! Could you imagine even one of us scrunching into that little tub let alone two. I'm creative, but not that creative! It did make the room smell great while they were there though. I'm glad you posted the pics of your heart Nikki. We had the swans and something in the corner of the bed that looked "snake-like". Not to be x-rated here, but we thought it a bit "suggestive. Now that I see your heart, I bet it was a heart with an arrow through it. Silly us.

I didn't tell DH much about any of this and we ate and drank way too much at Palo's. The romantic turndown was only a feast for our eyes I'm afraid. (TMI -Too Much Information as my BIL says!)

Our breakfast was awesome. We ordered things for our kids as well and had a great breakfast on our verandah together. DH wasn't crazy about it when I told him b/c he likes to go up on deck. But when those two trays arrived before our kids got up, he was thrilled. As with Nikki, I didn't know how big an order of anything was so I ordered two sides of some things. Way too much food. I felt guilty. A side of bacon or sausage was enough for 4 people.

Oh, even though they called to confirm our reservations when we boarded, our Palo dinner and tea reservations were not there, but the host was more than happy to seat us.

I ended up going up to tea by myself and really enjoyed it. It was just too close to dinner for DH (our seating was at 6:00) and he was really into his book. I felt very comfortable doing this and got to talk to the Palo "men" a great deal. Marco, as some have said on the board, has beautiful eyes. "snicker" ;)

Palo was like a fishbowl in that if it's hot and sunny on the windows it's very hot in Palo. I was roasting when I was at Tea. The morning and evening were very pleasant as the sun wasn't beating down on us.

Oh, and we had the APLAPLA rotation as per our request. Debbie from DCL dining had definite suggestions on when to book what. I went with all her suggestions and it worked out great for us. I was telling her our likes and dislikes as to menus, times we get up, etc. She definitely listened and made great recommendations.

I know you all our convinced already. Just wanted to add our experience.

Juli

P.S. I ordered the tea roses b/c I knew they were no longer included. I loved having them in our room to add some brightness all week. The price isn't outrageous, just tough to swallow when you know you can get a dozen roses at Costco for $7.99. I would do this again if I had the $. Otherwise just the pretty basket and album on the desk looks nice.

Thanks for the great info and pictures. We leave this Sat on the Western cruise and we had booked the Romance package since it's Valentine's Day. From all the feedback I'm glad we did.

Can't wait!

Thanks,
Mike
