The Yuck Factor

I agree with you! The hamburgers at that place were vile. I am not quite sure that they use beef. We thought the burgers were a soy burger. Ugh.

I'm glad I found ths thread, I often looked at their menu, DD is an asian noodle fan, thought we might try a meal there. Not now. The Backlot Express used to do an edible burger.

I have been pretty lucky and have not had too many horrible meals.
Yuck Factor- Crystal Palace at Mk and Concourse at CR.
Worst service-'Ohana, also there meat was a bit yuck too.

We planned on making ADR's for 50's PT in October but it sound kind of gross:scared: to me. I have to let Dh see the menu. Plan on trying at least 3 new restaurants next trip.

My question is this: Did anyone who had bad experiences actually say anything to the manager of the restaurant?"

I didn't care for Marrakesh but I didn't like the thought of the food before getting there. I went because other members of my party wanted to go.

Dinner there pretty much *is* a TV dinner. Stouffers (the TV dinner people) is the "sponsor".

Lunch, on the other hand, is great. I keep wishing they'd dump the character meal or at least serve the lunch menu at Liberty Tree for dinner.

That explains a lot, thank you! I keep hearing how awful LTT is, but we had an excellent experience and were there at lunchtime. Maybe that is the reason for the difference in opinion.

Well, I have to agree that many times, a yuck can come from a great restaurant that is just having a bad day with the kitchen or waitstaff.

However, I have eaten at Brown Derby 4 of the 5 times I have visited WDW. The first meal was so outstanding, that I had to keep going back, because I just knew that it would get better, but alas, the other 3 times we went the food was not good, service was slow, and the last time we went the waitstaff was incredibly rude to boot.

We will not be going back, sadly.

LTT - Food was no better than a C- cook's leftovers.

Nine dragons -- The service was horrible. In retrospect, we shouldn't have left a tip and we should've complained. The food merely passes.

Three places that haven't disapointed us through the years are Boma, Kona and Beirtgarden (sp?).

Places that I once liked and had good experiences, but over the years changes not for the better, have made them our biggest dissapointments and I won't try them anymore: Tony's, Alfredo's, Coral Reef.

I don't think of them as total yuck but more like a waste of our money, they are priced like a five star restaurant and I found the food extremely poor quality.

It does seem that most every restaurant in WDW has been listed. I have to say that one of my favorites, San Angel Inn, is listed by some as Yuck. We have eaten there 3 times and all 3 times the food was very good. The service was bad once but I just didn’t leave a tip. My only Yuck would have to the ABC Commissary. We ate there last trip and I don’t even remember what we got but I do remember it was strange and we won’t be back. DS got some type of chinese noodle dish at Pop Century food court that was inedible and he can eat almost anything and will. Nine Dragons wasn’t really Yuck but just not spectacular. I swear the food is either very mediocre or we have excellent chinese restaurants in my home town.

Le Cellier. Which was a disappointment since we'd heard so many rave reviews about it. The meat was mediocre at best and had very little flavor. Maybe they were having an "off" day but I don't plan on going back anytime soon. For the amount of money they charge I'm not willing to risk it. I'll just stick with the places where I know I'll get a meal I like.

We love eating at San Angel Inn -- the food is always outstanding. The service is 50/50, we go to WDW @ least 3x / year for about a week -- so our strategy is to go to San Angel Inn at an off time (late lunch or very early lunch) and keep our fingers crossed re: service.

Queso Fundido = YUM

:scared: Making deletions from my list of "possible" ADRs based on what I'm reading here.

From my personal experience, ABC Commissary was crowded, busy, confusing, and the food wasn't very good. Same with Electric Umbrella, although it was better than ABC Commissary. I was disappointed with San Angel for dinner. We like Mexican food and eat out at a lot of Mexican restaurants. San Angel was WAY more expensive and not as good as the places we are used to at home.

Like a few others, I would advise against this. I am a stong believer that you should form your own opinions. I was in this frame of mind for our last trip but decided to try restaurants for ourselves-not based off the opinions here. We were pleasantly surprised - we loved both Nine Dragons & San Angel Inn & they both always seem to get lousy reviews :confused3 .

If there is a place you want to try, don't let these boards change your mind. Always try for yourself :thumbsup2

We have always had great service at WDW restaurants.

The only food we didn't care for was at Akershus in Norway. It was just bland and blah, for our tastes (everyone is different though). That place is the one that we all agreed we wouldn't go back to. The princesses didn't spend a lot of time at our table either.

We had gone to 1900 Park Fare the night before, and I think the character interaction and food there had spoiled us. Our other favorite is Crystal Palace--always had great food/service and great character interaction!

RainForrest Cafe at the Animal Kingom...the food was only ok but a three hours burger lunch SUCKED!!!

Ours was Capt Jack's at DTD. The Peel & eat Shrimp was slimey & the service was just plain bad. That was quite a few years ago so I would try it again but not until I try I few others. The menu seams bigger now.

Hollywood and Vine - went in 2001 with hubby and mom's for their first trip. I got ill from the food. All I ate was the sweet potatoes and salad. Nothing else interested me.

Tony's - Hubby and I went in 2004 (we try a new restaurant or two everytime) and believe this was the worst meal for the price we paid. I have better food at Fazoli's!

I'm glad someone thought of this thread. It's really interesting. We don't have a "yuck" factor yet based on anything other than personal taste.

I don't like German food, and I don't like English food. So, we avoid Biergarten and Rose and Crown. I'm sure they are great if you like those types of cuisine. The service and cleanliness were fine. I've had both types of food other places, and didn't like them then, either. Now I know, so I eat elsewhere.

I'm interested as to what you consider English food, meat and two veg can't be that bad. Fish and chips? The Rose and crown is about as British as pizza.

Our biggests yucks were

1) Whispering Canyon Cafe--it was too loud and just plain obnoxious. The food was greasy and unappetizing. The service was awful. A server there badgered a little girl into tears, tried to get the whole restaurant to call her "cry baby" and "chicken". I was glad to see that most of the people there were as shocked as I was that the teasing went on and on. It was past the point of appropriate. Everyone seemed really uncomfortable and the server was just oblivious or mean spirited...perhaps both. I will never go there again. Even now, thinking about that poor little girl upsets me. She had her face in her hands and her little shoulders were shaking with her crying. Her mom seemed embarrassed and was sort of trying to shield her. Her brothers were sort of laughing but it looked like they weren't sure if this guy was being mean or just "teasing" her. He looked like a big mean jerk who had cornered some victims and didn't know when to quit. Not a very Disney moment.:sad2:

2)Le Cellier--This one is more my personal reaction to an undercooked steak b/c everything else there was great! The soup and breadsticks were great. Salad was good, dessert was good...service was good...but I ordered the Mushroom Filet Mignon to be done Medium Well...when I cut into it I saw that it was very rare on the inside...to the point of it bleeding red blood onto the plate. Yuck. I haven't eaten red meat since then.:crazy2: (The waitress was very nice and she and the kitchen really wanted send something else out, but I was pretty much done for the night. But I just wanted to emphasize that the service really was fantastic!)

For us. We loved the Garden Grill and Liberty Tree Tavern, I can't wait to go back, and the Sci-Fi, it was a great atmosphere and our food was really good as was Tony's. So everyone has their own experiences, our bad experience was at the Character Dining at Norway. I am about 90% norwegian and have had lots of norwegian food and the food, I thought, was awful. The salad bar was good. I could live on lefse. But that is just our personal taste.
