The "You've got something in your hair..." Trip Report: 11/17- 11/18-- Part 10 up!

From the Exposition Hall to the spot in front of Cinderella Castle, it was snowing! I wasn't sure how I would react to the "snow", since last year I was at Disneyland and the snow looked very fake and disappointing. I was pleasantly surprised! The snow actually looked almost real! The freezing cold added to the illusion, and it was all I could do to keep myself from opening my arms wide and spinning like a little kid.

After staking out a spot behind Walt and Mickey, we waited for Holiday Wishes to start. I was expecting something like the regular Wishes, which was disappointing to me. From the very start I was amazed! I didn't care for the soundtrack in a few places, but overall it was very Christmas-y, and the fireworks were more than spectacular! There were a few instances where no matter how I tried to suppress it I had to let a "Whoa!" escape. :teeth:

After the fireworks, we went to ride Pirates! pirate: Then it was back to Frontierland to find a spot to watch the Christmas Parade. We found a place by the Country Bear Jamboree and decided to sit down; after all, we had been on our poor feet all day long! We then decided that since I was so cold and my feet hurt less I should be the one to stand in the hot chocolate line. So I go to get the hot chocolate, and guess what? No line at all! Woot, what a surprise! :) I got back to Dad and we watched the Country Bears playing pranks on people in the autograph line. That was funny! After the line dispersed and the Bears started mingling with the crowd, one of them came up to us and pointed at our hot chocolate and rubbed his stomach. Dad asked him "What, you want a cookie?" The bear nodded, and Dad had to tell him, "Sorry, but we're fresh out of those." Then the bear slumped and dragged his feet away from us. :rotfl:

I was starting to get what we call "too-much-sugar syndrome" and I needed something salty. The shop where we'd found the pretzels was closed, so Dad let me go to the popcorn stand. popcorn::

Ok, so far so good!

I will be driving in from Pensacola, after flying from Kansas City! UHmM my mom did not want to fly from Pensacola to Orlanda :sad2: not sure why, but so who cares that it is over an 8 hour drive! Who cares now she wants to bringb her Sheltie to drop off at my brother's in Palm Bay which will add another 2 hours :sad2:

Uhmm gettting back to your story,, :bounce:

Nice, TR. Didn't it snow for real in Orlando that week?

You sure did a lot for your first day at WDW.

[I'd like to thank everyone who has read my TR! And a special thank you to those who have replied. :) OhMari, I hope it didn't snow in Orlando! The first time there's been snow in Florida in decades and decades and I would have missed it!]

I found the popcorn stand and stood in line. I wanted to get the box of popcorn, but when it was my turn to order I changed my mind last-second to the bucket; Dad and I were going to share and I wanted plenty! I ordered and the CM asked me, "Do you want to answer some trivia for it?" I could only stutter, "Oh, uh, sure!" Now a little background on me; I was rarely allowed to watch TV or movies as a kid; I am very smart and have a big imagination because of that but am sorely lacking in 'kid movie' knowledge. (I have been watching TV and movies since I was 14, though, but animated films are not big in my family so classic Disney films are not a priority.) So the CM asked me "Are you familiar with the movie Aladdin?" (Another confession; at the end of a videotaped episode of Winnie the Pooh was a program called "The Making of Disney's Aladdin" or similar. I secretly watched that when nobody else was home at the age of 10. Then I did it again, and again. ) So I told the CM "Somewhat." She asked, "Name three of the main characters in the film." I said Aladdin and Jasmine off the top of my head, then I wanted to say the Genie, but I couldn't remember what it was named. (Was it Genie?) So I stumbled around until I remembered Jafar. (That was where being a VMKer came in handy; we had a Jafar hat released not too long ago!) She said, "Here you go; have a good evening!" I was so thrilled! I never thought a bucket of popcorn could be so special! It was such a YOAMD moment! :goodvibes

After the Christmas Parade, we went back to the Castle Forecourt to see the Season show, then it was closing time. :( I hung back behind Dad a bit and did something I've never done before; waved goodbye to the CM's with the Mickey hands. I was so cold, but so sad to leave. It was all I could do not to fall asleep on the monorail, and I was so freezing on the tram that Dad put his arm around me and held me like a little kid. :lovestruc Then it was back to the hotel to a panicked Mom who thought the party ended at 9 and a nice warm fold-out cot to sleep on.

So glad I found your Trip Report, my VMK twin sister!

I think on Nov. 18, Orlando had snow showers. It didn't stay on the ground, instead of raining, it was snow. We get that a lot in Wisconsin, so that is why it made the news by us. We were laughing, because we were having a 60 degree day and Orlando was getting our weather.

We want more! We want more! lol Awesome trip you had there. Would love to hear more, but I am sure you will have plenty of new stories to tell next week ;)
