The younger sniper suspect tries to escape

The Malvo guy tried to escape through a ventilation vent in an interrogation room. Officers had to pull him back in. Just reported on the WGN radio 9 PM news. Can you imagine how brazen this guy is?!?!?!?

I heard earlier this afternoon that he was handcuffed to a chair and that he broke off the arm of the chair and was trying to escape in the ceiling/vent. Was this the same incident??

I also heard that it was he who made the calls to the tip line telling them that they [the police] should check out the robbery/murder in Alabama.

When was this, Dan? I know they reported the night they were arrested that Malva slipped out of the handcuffs, apparently his wrists were skinny enough to do so. He was apprehended within minutes and apparently they found handcuffs that would fit his wrists.

Stupid is more like it. Not only will this finish any possibility of bail (as if there would be any possibility anyway), but an escape attempt definitely doesn't help his defense.

I agree that he probably wasn't given as much common sense as the rest of us. Not that it excuses him one single bit. To the contrary, it proves he can never be safely released.

He is in the country illegally, but I don't think he should be deported. He's Jamaican, and since he obviously doesn't like Americans, he shouldn't ever live somewhere where lots of Americans vacation. He should stay here, locked up.

Doesn't surprise me. What makes me MAD is that they are being fed, and taken care of, they should be in a Room by themselves for about 5 days without food and water, and than Beaten with the Gun they used to kill all those innocent people.

Maybe because of my job i have a different take on it but when my wife told me the story while getting ready for work i thought"What were the police doing??"
Dont they look dumb for not keeping this guy under constant surveillance???? What would they have done if he escaped?? Or killed himself while in custody for such a hi-profile case???
I cant understand why somebody wasnt with him at all times unless in a jail cell,im sure someone will get disciplined once this is done, and rightly so!!
You would think in a case like this they would want to do everything possible not to screw up and police are always taught you never leave a prisoner alone in a interview room or ever out of your sight unless they are in a secure jail cell.
