I just found this thread! I am glad Y&R is renewed but don't particularly like Adam being back in the mix. I also think Victor is way over the top (even for him). I wonder what wierd mixup is in store for us? And where does Phyllis fit in with all this?

:happytv:

Today I could not stand watching Sharon with Adam! YUCK! It's just been too soon since she found out he switched her baby. How could she possibly be attracted to him? :scared1:
And the scene with Sharon's pant legs was sooo painful. It looked almost like she was going to start laughing.

Here's another piece on the contract renewal:

The Young and the Restless Renewed Through 2014

The Young and the Restless will be on the air to celebrate its 40th anniversary -- and possibly many more to come. The top-rated soap recently received a three-year renewal.

Good news, Y&R fans: The Young and the Restless will remain on the air for at least three more years. CBS has renewed the top-rated daytime drama series through the 2013-2014 season.

"Hey Young & the Restless fans," CBS posted to its official Twitter account. "TV's #1 daytime drama has been renewed for three more years!"

News of the renewal doesn't come as too much of a surprise, especially since Y&R has ranked as the number one soap since 1988. However, fans still jittery over the cancellation of two CBS soaps in the past two years should now be able to rest a little easier.

"The Young and the Restless has been the #1 daytime drama on television for more than two decades, as well as an enduring symbol of CBS's success in the daypart," Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President, Daytime, CBS, said in a statement. "Our audience's beloved characters in Genoa City will continue to flourish under the leadership of Head Writer and Executive Producer Maria Bell and the wonderful storytelling ahead."

According to Deadline Hollywood, the pickup is a "straightforward one," meaning that the show should not have to dramatically slash its budget as it had been required to do for its last renewal in August 2009.

Fans may remember that the previous budget trimming resulted in salary disputes and the walkout of three of the show's biggest stars -- Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), Jess Walton (Jill Abbott), and Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). Though the three stars eventually did accept the mandated pay cuts, the show's unwillingness to budge during contract talks showed that executives were serious about cutting the show's operating budget.

After Walton bolted from the studio, a casting notice was released indicating the show's plans to recast her role. Scott was written out of the show for several weeks when her contract talks broke down. A very vocal Braeden also walked, but he eventually returned to life in Genoa City.

Earlier this month, NBC's Days of our Lives, which is also produced and distributed by Sony Pictures television, received a two-year pick-up.

The Young and the Restless debuted on March 26, 1973, as a 30-minute soap. It eventually expanded to its current hour-long format in 1980.

i love how they say it's a straight forward decision lol - Y&R is what 1 of 5 soaps left?????

what else are they going to do??

it's scary to think what would happen if they cancel all the soaps left. boy - can you imagine the unemployment line in LA?

Yep, and if they don't have to "slash their budget" does it mean the story lines will get better?

(I like your post count, Kurby - 7,777!)

HAHAHA i didn't even notice.

wonder how long it will take to get up to 8,888 :)

I used to be a Sharon fan but this whole Adam thing makes me scream at the tv. If she becomes pregnant after this trounce, I'm done watching... well ok maybe just her scenes!

Well, at least we know Nikki won't be getting pregnant:rolleyes1

I've always wanted Sharon with Nick. I'm sentimental. :lovestruc

BUT I really love the guy who plays Adam SO much and I love his (real life) friendship with Sharon SO much that I'm actually enjoying their scenes!!

I know it's crazy. I HATE ADAM the character and I could NEVER forgive and forget BUT he's SO cute (the actor).

So I'm confessing here that I'm (not so much) secretly enjoying the Adam/Sharon scenes. ;)

* Ronan questions Adam about Skye and the threats he made against her, Adam tells Ronan that Skye had many enemies and that anyone could have killed her or she is probably faking her death like she did before. Next, Ronan questions Sharon, believing she and Adam worked together in what happened to Skye.
* Noah has just visited Sharon at the station, he tells Abby that he believes that Sharon still cares for Adam and thinks it is because Adam saved his life and Faith's and that Sharon has a thing for heroes. He thinks Adam is playing with Sharon's mind.
* Nick wants his daughters for the night, he tells Jack about Sharon and Adam. Jack tells Nick that they've both tried to save Sharon from herself but if she wants to be with Adam there is nothing they can do. Later, Michael shows Nick a reciept from the hotel proving Sharon and Adam spent the night together
* Victoria and Billy attempt to have a child, while Phyllis works on her story for Restless Style. Michael catches Phyllis recording Ronan interrogating Adam and stops her before she gets caught.

Next - Daniel and Kevin fight about Daniel's daughter; Daisy looks like she is going into labor; Jack calls Adam a cold blooded killer

Sharon ... :headache: I got nothing to add ... :headache:

Nick's greasy hair is ewwww ... :headache:

I loved their shout out and thank you to NOLA! :thumbsup2

I hate to say it but I agree. I do think Sharon & Adam have great chemistry. But she BELONGS with Nick! She just does!

no - sharon, nikki AND ashley belong in counselling.

for such strong women they are all very VERY weak when it comes to the loser men in their lives - and funny enough the 2 men in all 3 of their lives are related.

A confrontation between Heather and Ronan has an explosive result

Additional secrets from Cane's past are revealed

Kevin admits his feelings to Chloe

Victoria and Nick are at odds after he attacks Billy

hummmmm why would nick attack billy? like father like son i guess

* Sharon and Nick fight about her sleeping w/ Adam, Nick threatens to take full custody of Faith from Sharon, saying he will win!
* Jack visits Adam in jail, calling him a cold blooded killer. Jack is shocked when Adam accuses him of helping Skye fake her death
* Kevin wants guardianship of his niece, he needs money to pay Rafe to fight his case. Despite Chloe's pleas, he works for Hogan
* Daisy cries out for pain in jail, she is transferred to the hospital. She is bleeding and needs bedrest, Daniel stays as she gets a transfusion
* Heather visits Adam in jail, he admits to following Sharon but not killing Skye. Heather wants Adam to suffer in prison
* Phyllis tells Jack that she is starting to believe that Adam is telling the truth and that Skye really did fake her death
* Leslie (Vance's assistant) meets with Sharon, shows her papers Vance filed for Adam signing over everything to Skye, the divorce papers
* Nick is drowning his sorrows in alcohol at Jimmy's, thinking about Sharon. He has a run in with Diane, who has come for a drink
* Ronan confronts Adam about a search done on his computer on how to dispose of a body, Adam asks if Ronan thinks he's that stupid
* Daisy's condition forces the judge to reverse her decision, Daisy is released to Phyllis custody and this pisses off Lauren
* Sharon comes to jail to see Adam, he doesn't want her to see him like this but is happy when Sharon says she believes him
* Ronan is talking to Heather about his visit with Adam when he suddenly collapses in her arms, he's out cold

Next - Sharon and Adam are trying to figure out who helped Skye fake her death, Adam thinks it is Jack since Jack hates him, slept with Skye and gloated about it to him; Ronan's test results are back; Daniel still with Daisy at the hospital tells Phyllis that Daisy has started to bleed again

Phyllis takes her in when the judge changes his mind and allows her to.

Daisy has placenta previa, and has to be on bed rest.

Phyllis wants to do this for Daniel because she thinks he'll regret not caring about his kid one day.

Lauren is very freaked out, and Michael wants Phyllis home secured from Daisy on the loose.

Daniel helps her bring Daisy home, but wants no part of it.

Phyllis says she will take responsiblity where her son won't.

Daisy tries to manipulate Phyllis while in the home, but Phyllis can play the game.

Phyllis will narrate the 12/7 episode about the aspects of evil, and how it affects some. Phyllis is pointing to Sharon in her expose of evil

Next week Sharon begs Nick to take her back. He refuses and lambasts her.

Sharon believes Adam when he asserts he is innocent and decides to help him.

When it is disclosed that Sharon was helping Adam all her family and friends turn on her and berate her including Ashley.

Sharon does not listen to anyone and when Adam is released on bail she and Adam take a room at the GCAC together.

But they are thrown out because of Adam and they have to check into a seedy motel where no one knows them.
