The Year of Disney Trips: ***Update!!!! 8/20/08****

ok this is why I am so hesitant to rent DVC points. don't keep us hanging to long.

Riddle me this.....Why did I NOT know that we were there at the same time:confused3

Great start Z! Already an awesome cliff hanger!!

Thank you! ;) You were #1 in responding to the August Trip!  :cheer2:

OH carp!!! This is my worst nightmare come Feb! I have all the info from the people I rented from and a contract but I'm still kinda scared. Do i really need to add the DDP before the check in? I was told by the people I rented from I could add it when we got there???? I hope everything turned out ok!!

No! Tell the DVC owner to request it! If they have a confirmation letter with the info saying they requested the DDP, ask for a copy of it, or the original. I think the problem is this; DVC owners can probably ask for the DDP when the get there, but if you're not the DVC owner it has to be requested prior to check in. You can't really pass off as the DVC owner because they have a card or something saying they're are DVC owners. So call/email whatever the DVC owner and tell them THEY have to ask for the DDP that you called Disney or something and were told that only the DVC owner can request the DDP. I hope everything turns out fine for you.

Oh my gosh Z, that is one killer cliffhanger! :scared1: Please don't take too long letting us know what happened. :scared: :lmao:

;) Sorry it was a little while, have been really busy.

OMG Z what happened :hyper:

BTW so pleased you're finally on August :yay: Not sure why though ;) :rotfl:

Uh hmmm, maybe you're just excited about certain encounters that happened in August. ;) :rotfl2:

Oh no! I so hope this gets better.

I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. Poor little guy. I just hate it that little kids have to go through stuff like that! Keep us posted!

Thank you. Keep reading! popcorn::
Update on Joey my cousin: He has been released from the hospital were he had been undergoing experimental treatment. So that means that his body is reacting positively to the treatment. For now his doing good, but we're all still waiting to see what happens next.

ok this is why I am so hesitant to rent DVC points. don't keep us hanging to long.

I think my experiences have been rare ones, so don't be too hesitant Scott. It's a great way to save some money at a Deluxe.

Riddle me this.....Why did I NOT know that we were there at the same time:confused3

:confused3 I think you got there on the 15th or something and our touring schedules were different I think.

UPDATE NEXT!

I hung up the phone and started laughing hysterically. :lmao: You know that laugh, that this isn’t funny and you really feel like crying, but you laugh almost maniacally because it’s so unbelievable what is happening and it almost sounds sarcastic? Well that’s what happened to me. I knew that little feeling I was having earlier wasn’t a good one. So I tell my friends what happened and they really don’t know what to say. I start looking through my organizer and Disney folder to see if I can find another number. I know in her emails to me there was a work number and I told my friend Isis this. So she called her father and he signed onto the Internet and I walked him through my saved emails and we located the email with her work numbers and I wrote down two more numbers.

I thanked him and proceeded to call the numbers. The first was supposed to be a cell phone and that didn’t work either. :headache: Then I dialed the work number, I mean it was a Monday and I could probably locate her. I finally got through to the operator and asked to speak to the DVC owner at her extension and got transferred. Someone picked up and I asked to speak to the DVC owner and she says, “She no longer works here.”

WHAT?!?!?!?:scared1:

Ohmygod Ohmygod Ohmygod!!! What am I gonna do?!?!

The conversation went as follows:
Me: “How long has she not been working there?”
Phone Lady (PL): “About a month.”
Me: “Listen I had a business transaction with her and there’s been a problem and I need to speak to her urgently, do you happen to have a number where I could reach her because the three I have for her are not working.”
PL: “I’m sorry no.”
Me: “Please it is an emergency and I NEED to speak to her. We had a business transaction and I’ve paid her money, but there’s been a problem and I NEED to speak to her.”
PL: “We’re not allowed to give out that information. I’m sorry.”
Me: probably sounding hysterical “PLEASE! I’m not going to tell anyone, I just want to get the problem resolved and I paid her money and now I can’t get in contact with her and there’s been a problem with our transaction.”
PL: “Hold on.”
About a minute later some other lady comes on the phone and I re-explain the situation to her. She tells me she’s unable to give out that information, which I knew, but I had to try. So I tell her if there’s a way she or someone who knows her could call her and have her contact me and I give her my name and the reason for the call and my cell number and my 2 friends’ cell numbers and thanked them and hung up. I felt completely defeated and didn’t know what to do. :guilty:

We talked about what to do and I asked Isis to call her father back to see if MAYBE we could contact her through email for her to call. So we called him and he sent an email to her from me. We waited for a while talking on our options.

Option #1: We wait for who knows how long for her to call us and then check in.
Option #2: We just check in and decide not to get the DDP. The reservation was there, which was a good thing; it’s just the DDP request that wasn’t. Did some quick math concerning our ADR places, which most of them were pre-priced ones so it would be about the same as if we did buy the DDP and go to Wal-Mart or some grocery store in the city and get other food stuff like breakfast and sandwiches, etc.

We weighed the options and after a few minutes of waiting more we decide to go with Option #2. I was tired and frustrated and just wanted to get over this and get on with the vacation. So we go back in to the check in and go to miss airy CM and tell her we’re just gonna check in. Try once more to see if they’d let us add the DDP. Then snootily say, “That’s a shame, that’s about $600 Disney is losing out on.” :snooty: That didn’t work and she just airily smiled and said, “Yeah that is a shame.” So we gave her fake smiles back. We finished checking in and headed to the room.

After settling in a little we head into the city to find the Wal-Mart and I knew where a grocery store was from going in June and we decide to hit up some of the outlet stores nearby.

We did some shopping, my friend Yani bought a bathing suit and I went to find a crown for Pirates and Princesses and we checked out the Disney outlet store, which had tons of stuff for kids, but not much for adults. As we’re driving towards Wal-Mart my phone rings and it’s the DVC lady! :upsidedow

It is too bad that nobody was really able to help you. I can understand the position of her ex-coworkers though, I have people calling me all the time trying to get personal contact info on people at the university and we really can't give it out.

Either way you seemed to have worked the issue out on your own.

ok cliffhangers are bad. repeat after me "they r bad".

at least you got into the room, too bad about the ddp. but maybe the phone call will help.
or is it too late???

Z what are you doing to us :faint: :rotfl:

Glad you got into your room though and what a stupid policy that is :headache:

:headache: D'oh! Z, you're getting a little too good at this!

:lmao:

:rolleyes1

Me too, I was just trying to see if anyone would feel bad and help out. Yeah, we just decided to alter our plans a little.

:rotfl: Sorry Scott, but at least you won't be waiting too long to read some more. popcorn::

OMG u are mean!!!!!! I need to know what happened !!!!!

popcorn:: Coming up

I agree, and I've read many times on the DIS the DVC owners telling people that they can just add the DDP when they get there. I really do wonder if this has happened to others.

I can't wait to hear how this conversation goes!!

Coming up popcorn::

I answer the phone and the DVC lady asks me what’s going on. I explain the situation to her and she says she’s going to call Disney and see if she could fix the problem and she’ll call me back. I let everyone else know what’s going on and we nix going to Wal-Mart and go back to the room. Once we get to the room, she calls and says that she was able to fix the problem, :yay: but we had to go check out and check back in. The problem was that Disney prefers to have all DVC reservations at least 2 weeks prior to check in all paid for and everything. Well since we had paid her exactly 2 weeks ago they didn’t quite have everything properly set up in their computers and blah blah. :headache: I thanked her and gave everyone the news so we changed to hit up the pool for some relaxing and headed back to check out and check back in. We got a different CM, who was much nicer than miss sarcastic airhead and she quickly fixed the problem and we all paid for our DDP. So all was well again in the land of Magic. :cloud9:

We headed to the pool area to cool off and relax and explore that area of the resort before our dinner ressie.

The OKW pool area is very nice and big, the slide is OK, but the SSR slide is better IMO.

Yani’s BF was starving, but we told him to hold off because we would be eating soon and if he ate he’d be too full to eat dinner. So after our pool fun, we head back to our room and pretty ourselves up to make it over to the Contemporary to have a meeting with the Big Cheese Himself, and My Main Dude. Yup, we were headed here:

CIMG2131.jpg

The place was packed and I checked us in and got the beeper thingy and we walked around CR and the gift shops until we were called. Our beeper does it’s little light dance and we head back to get our napkin twirling groove on. We’re seated all the way in the back in an area that kinda looked like the kids area, but it was all good.

CIMG2132.jpg

We were all starving and there were no characters around so we made a dash to get food. I completely forgot to take food pics though. I did manage one shot of some of our desserts though.

CIMG2141.jpg

Soon the characters started to come by and started with Yani’s Main Dude, Goofy.

CIMG2136.jpg

CIMG2140.jpg

CIMG2143.jpg

It’s napkin twirling time!

CIMG2144.jpg

As we waited for Mickey and Minnie to come out, we decided to take a page from Lessa’s brothers and get a pic with our awesome server guy Todd. The dude was awesome, our drinks were never empty and he was always asking if we needed anything.

CIMG2145.jpg

Finally the Big Cheese decides to grace us with his presence:

CIMG2149.jpg

He pointed at my shirt and was a little mad, but I lurrrve my duck!

Then Minnie came by
CIMG2151.jpg

She started flirting up Yani’s BF in front of Mickey  and he wasn’t too happy about it.

CIMG2154.jpg

As we were packing up getting ready to leave, we had another visitor and I couldn’t say no to one more pic with him.

CIMG2155.jpg

Up next, how to illegally use the CR’s elevator! :rolleyes1

Glad everything with the DDP was worked out. Great night at Chef Mickey's, I had this one my list for August but I am not sure if we will be able to fit in.

I'm glad everything worked out! :thumbsup2 When you were saying you had a business transaction, it sounded like she was your dealer. :lmao:
I love the pics!!! So cute! :goodvibes

Thank god it all worked out! I am def going to email the DVC people we rented from. We rented them a few months ago so its been paid off and I know the ressie has our name on it, plus we have a contract. Still I think they were under the impression that we can add the DDP when we get there because they usually do- so I am surely going to inform them! You may have saved our butts on this one, so thanks! Looking fwd to the rest of your happy trip!

I'm so glad that everything worked out for you, what a relief that must have been!

I told Alek and Erich that they got mentioned in your report and they are excited to be Dis celebrities. :lmao:

Thank goodness it was all sorted out Z but what a palaver (sp?) to have to check out and in again

Looked as though you had lots of fun at CM's :thumbsup2

so glad it worked out. :yay: I love Chef Mickey's but have only gone for breakfast but still love it.

I was not too impressed with OKW when I stayed there. Not very Disney to me. Just my opinion.
