The Year of Disney Trips: ***Update!!!! 8/20/08****

great update. I would hate to be sleeping late by you. :scared1:

Lovin' the update. :thumbsup2
I agree with the ADHD thing. If your child or yourself need the medication, fine. But there are so many people handing it out to make kids be calm little adults, and that's not what they are supposed to be. They're supposed to be kids. When I had my son, we had just starting thinking about homeschooling, and he's one of the reasons. He's a good boy, but he loves to run and jump and wrestle. He doesn't sit still and do workbooks as well as his sisters. So what?! We'll jump and say the alphabet.
My hubby was put on meds as an Air Force kid. His sister said he was like a zombie on the meds and walked into walls. :sad1: So sad.

Whew! Where did that come from? On to a lighter subject... Miss you at the PTR! pirate:

Great update Z!

Oh my gosh, I was laughing so hard after reading about the wake up.:rotfl2:

Sounds like you guys are having a wonderful birthday breakfast. I think it is too funny that you unknowingly ordered your mom a cake.:lmao:

I totally agree with you on the ADHD thing. Alek's elementary school tried to tell my parents he had ADHD and made us send him to a doctor who also said the same thing and gave us meds for him. Well little did the school know that we never gave him those meds and they never made another complaint because they believed we were giving him the drugs.:sad2:

I just wanted to add about the ADHD also. I have a 6 year old, who is very hyper and energetic, Last year his kindergarden teacher asked me to have him checked because he has a hard time sitting still and gets bored way to easy. (at home we just do alot of things for very short periods of time) any way at one of his check ups I told the doctor about what the teacher said, but was not interested in putting him on any meds because I have read about certain side effects they have (like the loss of appitite and zombie states) and he said that he is just a very energetic 5 year old BOY. This year at a conference the teacher pulled me aside and started talking to me about ADHD and that if my son hasnt been diagonised that I should take him in and have him checked. I told her about the year before and the doctors answer and also told her it didn't matter that I wasn;t going to medicate him anyway. so Now I get a note sent home almost every day that tells me "cody didn't sit still today" or "Cody was crawling around the floor during carpet time" and so on. He is not a stupid boy, he is learning just needs refocusing more than others.
great update on the trip report......

WOW!! You went on the Orange side of Mission Space! Impressive! Of course, I still have not even gone on the Green side! Just a little too scared to try it!! OK...scared silly!! Funny how you got Ivan out of bed! :lmao: Looks like your Mom enjoyed her birthday breakfast!

Whoo-hoo! I'm finally caught up! I've been a bit behind on my fav TRs lately because my laptop's hard drive crashed and it's currently away being repaired. So my computer usage has been pretty limited. Anyway....

Your meal at Coral Reef looked really good! We've never eaten there yet, but it sounds like you guys had a lot of fun.

The pool pictures were great, and the one where one of the minions looked like he was peeing was hilarious! :lmao:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who exclaims "Lt. Daaan!" whenever they see Gary Sinise. :rotfl2: I can't believe you just jumped on the orange side of M:S! When it first opened, my cousins rode it, and one of them (who loves to ride the most intense roller coasters) ended up on a bench with her head between her knees for over a half an hour. I've been terrified to ride it ever since. After all, I don't want to get sick at DW! Kudos to you though for riding it and making it through with a smile on your face. :thumbsup2

ITA with your views on ADHD medication. My mom used to work with schoolage kids at our church's daycare center, and I sometimes helped out. There was this one boy, who is now in high school, who supposedly had ADD. My mom had to give him his meds everyday after he got off the bus, and she hated doing it. While he was bit chatty and could get goofy and excitable, I don't think he had ADD or ADHD or whatever. The meds made him really subdued and tired to the point where he sometimes was too "down" to play with the other kids. Thankfully, his parents stopped giving him the meds and he is now one of the nicest, well-rounded guys that I know.

But anyway, back to you. I loved you and Daniel waking up Ivan with the wet towel and everything. Sounds like me and my brothers! :rotfl: The 1900 Park Fare pictures are great, and your mom looks like she was having tons of fun on her b'day.

Looking forward to the next update! :cool1:

Where was TE's picture?????

The one in her siggie.

Love the way you woke him up :rotfl2: But you had to get there right?!

EXACTLY!!!! See you guys get me! ;)

great update. I would hate to be sleeping late by you. :scared1:

:rotfl2: Well like Jo said, I had to get there.

Lovin' the update.

Posted on your PTR ;)
Thanks for all that, I know where that came from, same place mine comes from.

Great update Z!

Sounds like you guys are having a wonderful birthday breakfast. I think it is too funny that you unknowingly ordered your mom a cake.:lmao:

Thanks! While I was writing about waking Ivan up, it reminded me of your TR where you had to tell your brothers five million times to get up. :lmao:

I was a little shocked when I saw the receipt with the cake charge. Ooops!:flower3:

I told her about the year before and the doctors answer and also told her it didn't matter that I wasn;t going to medicate him anyway. great update on the trip report......

Thanks, and  for having to go through that with your son.

I really enjoyed the Orange side, I'll tell you why when I get to the August Trip (eventually); at least I know what to expect now. Yeah, she really loved it. BTW that shirt, yeah, that's my shirt. She packed a humungo suitcase and ended up stealing my shirt for the trip. :sad2:

Whoo-hoo! I'm finally caught up! I've been a bit behind on my fav TRs lately because my laptop's hard drive crashed and it's currently away being repaired. So my computer usage has been pretty limited. Anyway....

Don't worry I have been behind on a lot of my TRs too. Sucks about your laptop :headache: I hope you had stuff backed up :scared: or they're able to recover it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who exclaims "Lt. Daaan!" whenever they see Gary Sinise. :rotfl2:

:lmao: :woohoo: I'm glad I'm not the only one either! (Other than my bro of course).

I can't believe you just jumped on the orange side of M:S! I think I survived it well enough because I had an empty stomach. I did have a slight headache after, but I don't know if it was from hunger or the ride or both. :confused3

That's EXACTLY how Ivan is! He'll be all talking and what not, but when he's on the meds he's very quiet and sad looking and sometimes moody. I'm glad that kid's parents decided it he was fine without it.

Looking forward to the next update! :cool1:

I'm workin' on it.

All the little kids around us were getting their cupcakes and being sung Happy Birthday.

Then they stopped.

Whah!!

They're not gonna sing HB to my Mom?!

I think Mom was a little relieved, but not me.

A few minutes later they brought us a cake.:cake:

When I saw the cake I was like, wow mom got a cake instead of a cupcake. I wonder if they did that because she's an adult. (Little did I know at that time that I was paying for that cake).

The CM made an announcement that it was Mom's birthday and we all sang HB :bday: to her. She smiled and took it graciously and then we all gave her hugs and kisses.

After we had stuffed our faces and got the bill (where I saw I was being charged for the cake:scared: ). We walked around GF a little admiring the serenity of the place. It was a beautiful sunny day and when the Minions saw the pool at GF they wanted to go swimming. So we headed back to SSR to get our swim on.

This time we were able to swim at High Rock Springs and there were quite a few people there with the same idea. We had a fabulous time getting our swim on though.

Here's one of the Minions on the slide

CIMG1758.jpg

I don’t know who that is :confused3 and that's the only good shot I got of the slide pics. All the other ones were just the splash of water. It rained a little but we just followed Dory's advice and "kept on swimming, kept on swimming, swimming, swimming".

We finally went back to the room to get ready because we had an ADR at Boma. (Remember this):teacher:

Whilst in the room my Mom returned all her missed birthday phone calls where she got to rub it in that she was in Disney in a beautiful room having a fabulous vacation. Woohooo!! I figured for sure she was in love with Disney by now. Or was she?

The adults drank a little bubbly that my Mom's sister (my aunt) had sent her and my Mom was saving for today.

Mmmmmm Yummmmy:

Minion #1 & #2 told Bre they were gonna go walk around the resort while we all got ready. (Remember this):teacher:

Meanwhile Minion #3 decided to take a bath in the bathtub.

I took a nap and then went on the DIS for a bit. I had borrowed my cousin's (DC who was back home) laptop, but it's an old one and the internet connection was slooooooow :snail: it felt like I was on dial up again. Almost an hour had gone by and we needed to get going soon, but Minion's #1 & #2 weren't back yet, so I asked Bre if they'd come back. She said no and I told her we had to be leaving soon. So she called them up on the cell.

Bre: "Ivan, where are you guys?"
Bre: "You're Where?"
Bre: "Ivan, you're WHERE?!?! :scared1:

Up at 3:30, to work by 5:00. A little overtime for the Disney Fund. It is freakin killing me, but so worth it!!

So you got slammed with the bill for the cake. I wonder why they assumed you wanted a cake? It is a beautiful one. I love the flower on it.
