(I heard that "thanks for the warning" remark!)

uh uh. Not me. I'm sweet and innocent, remember?

Well, I'm off for a little while too. I guess if I get to be home for the day, the least I can do is some housework.

See ya later...oops, I mean, get along little dogies!

Well stop counting those flyin donkies....flight from Cinci is enroute to Richmond!!! He figures he will make it just in time for his 1 pm meeting! The entire mid-Atlantic is shut down...except for my dh!!!

Jennifer I have the first Fix it and Forget it cookbook and also the Fix it and Forget it recipes for entertaining! Both are good! I used to get Taste of Home but now get Quick Cooking Magazine! I love that one!!!! Used it more before my eating habits changed though. Some "quick" stuff is not necessarily good for you. But I can still find some...just need to be more choosy!

See ya Marilyn!

A wagon train? Ya think? Wellll.....could be fun! No dust allowed!!! I vote to use some pixie dust and just get there though!!! But...I have been known to be a tad impatient at times!;) Dream and Brad will go wherever ya'll say....we're ready for a little "western" fun!!!

oooh!! Marilyn, can I get that Fajita recipe, too? Pretty please?? :)

If you get a chance, would you mind sharing some of thos diabetic recipes sometime? My DH is diabetic, and if he doesn't get his sugar/diet under control, the dr. wants to put him on insulin. He's a very stubborn man, but if I can get some recipes and not tell him, he'll eat. :teeth:

Bonnie, its a level 2 out there? DH has to head to Sandusky around 1:30 for work. I think myabe he should leave earlier, then, if its that bad out there.

2 of my boys are out shoveling right now. And its still steadily snowing. Doesn't look like it'll be stopping anytime soon. They just might have a snow day tomorrow.

I HATE WINTER!!!

My neighbor and I took the kids to see it on Friday. We were worried about the crowds too...there was practically no one there! A2 has school so you should be ok if you come out this way. It was a good movie!

Chatty group you are this morning! I go off to make breakfast only to come back to two new pages  :p

I am enjoying this day. I think I will take a nap later today.

Question for all of you crock pot cookers. I don't have one but I was thinking of getting one. However, with me gone at work all day, would it make sense for me to get one? How long does the average meal take to cook in it and if it is a long time, would you feel safe running one while away from home for hours at a time?

I was thinking of making Luis dinner tonight for when he gets home but I have no clue what to make him

I am sleepy... I think will take a nice nap :)

Sherry, Sandusky County is under a level 2, but so far no other counties around us. Sandusky is in Erie County (now that makes sense doesn't it?) and so far they don't have a snow emergency rating.

I get Quick Cooking too! I love that magazine!

My roomie, impatient, nah, who'd a thunk it?

Now I'm really off (watch it!).

Sorry Bonnie....just can't leave that one hanging there...you're "really off"? heh heh heh....and this is news???:p
Yes...impatient...I admit it. I don't think I used to be...but I am now!!! Not good....I am working on it!

Elaine...most CP recipes cook from 8-12 hours and I have left mine on all day many times with no problem. I'm sure it's not the absolute safest thing to do but the temp is so low.....
It is a time saver and some of it can be very healthy too!
Nap? I forgot what they are!!:p

Elaine, I leave my CP for sometimes as much as 12 hours and it's fine. Makes the best soups and stews!!!

I leave my crockpot on while gone all the time, Elaine! :)
Esp. on the weekends, it is so nice to come home and have dinner done already. :)

Very confusing about the counties, Bonnie! LOL
DH was hoping for a Level 3 so he could stay home! :teeth:

OK, I am going to have to look into this Quick Cooking. Details, please! :)

Hi everyone. :) Yep, it's a holiday and here I am slaving away at work. Oh wait... I'm at home. No, I'm working. No, it's both. Guess I can't complain *too* much, huh? :p

Hey, we're headed to the dude ranch next, right? How are we getting there? We could always take the Ya Ya Express Train (well the 150 page Ya Ya Express :p ). Remember, those passenger cars are pretty luxurious. :)

Slight bit of ketchuping... I agree with the TDS talk from yesterday. I have a gift card from there that I got for Christmas which I *still* haven't cashed in. They just don't have anything for adults. And if I do find something I like online or in the store, it's a safe bet I'll be dishing out about $25 on top of the $25 GC.

All this talk about fajitas & the dude ranch makes me think I'll be going to Taco Bell or Taco Bueno for lunch. :p

Only a few more
page 144!

Sherry...Quick Cooking is an awesome, though not gourmet, magazine full of quick recipes! "Five or fewer" = five ingred or fewer per recipe. There are last minute bake sale recipes...for when the kids suddenly remember at 8:30 that they need a dish by tomorrow morning!!! There are "30 minutes to the table" recipes and many more. Now some of them are heavy on the sauces, mayo, butter etc......but some are just what we need now! I have gotten so many people hooked on this magazine! I just got their hard cover book with all of 2002 recipes in it!!! What fun!

Morning Nancy!!

Morning Jay! Oooo....I like the train idea better than the wagon train!!! As long as this train is per our dreams....not Amtrak standards...I'm game!!!

Okay...I'm back.
I vote train instead of wagon train....sounds more "civilized" and comfy. I am not for roughing it on any of our stays anywhere!! :teeth:

Michele.......hope your DD feels better soon.
.......and you too Debster.

Marilyn...and everyone. I love Taste of Home! And Quick Cooking. I've been getting that since day 1......
and don't forget their other one!! :teeth: Light & Tasty.
Very nice!

Well, DH is on a plane bound for Detroit. I'll be slightly nervous all day (as usual when he travels) until he calls when he checks into his hotel.
Detroit's weather forecast was pretty good.....unless it's changed since last night.

Housework and laundry for me today.............don't forget to tell my cabin men to move my stuff aboard if I'm not here.

Thanks guys... I just hate to get something that I can't use because I work. I will have to look into it more sometime soon.

Yes naps Jodie... just took one and am thinking of doing it again since it was only about 20 minutes :)

We are under a level 2 emergency but all the counties around us are level 3. If we didn't have the snow cleaning crews that we have, we'd be there with them. Level 2 here is enough for me not to go to work since we usually only get these with ice. I have no NEED to go to work so I will listen and stay off the roads ;) And I will admit that Ohio counties are the most confusing out there!!

Off to make lunch, although I have no clue what I should make!!

The train I have in mind isn't even close to Amtrak. Well, I haven't been on Amtrak, so I guess I can't really say, but I've walked thru some of the old Streamliners. Very, very plush, lots of windows to watch the world go by and fine dining. Sound good? :) Something similar to the trains that you take on cruisetours thru Canada or in the Rocky Mountains. Hmmmm... when I get a break later I'll see if I can find some pics.

Train sounds good to me too!

Nancy....weather here is fine. cold with just a hint of flurries. It won't be pretty whe Dave gets here, but it will be safe traveling!

Hey...I got my slow cooker ingre. and the market had buy 1 get one free chuck roasts!!!! got 6 pounds of chuck roast for $8!!! I looked for the quick cooks mag. Not there...oh well.......

Girls are making peanutbutter chocolate chip cookies this afternoon....sorry dieters...... ;)

Okay... just had a second to search... These give you kind of an idea of the observation car and a long overhead view of the train (first 4 pics from the Princess Cruise Line web site, all others from the Blue Train web site, a train thru south Africa).

Hi Jennifer.....cookies! YUM!! I ate too many brownies this weekend......so have to be very good today.

Here is the link for Quick Cooking
http://www.quickcooking.com/

and the Light & Tasty
http://www.lightandtasty.com/

I'm not worried about the weather with DH traveling.....just traveling in general....of course, it is more likely something would happen to him on his daily commute to work then on a business trip.

And....I'm anxious ot hear if he got his bag pulled
He had a case of pocket knives in one of them :)

Okay...now i'm really off to get the work done.

Those trains sound wonderful to me, Jay :teeth:

YES-YES!!!! Let's take the train!! An' can I PULL-EEEEESE have the top bunk?! I NEVER get to sleep up top!!

Hi, Nancy! Hope your DH gets to Detroit safely. MI looks pretty OK on the weather maps. And thanks for the links--I haven't seen those mags and am always looking for new quick and healthy recipes. All this talk about crockpots and I had to get mine out. Turkey vegetable soup is on the menu for tonight!
