SHOPPING DAY

As it was due to be DS 6th b'day tomorrow we had arranged for today to be a shopping dat for presents etc and to adjust to the slog of travelling yesterday.

We went to Lake Buena Vista shopping outlet. It had some great names like - Osh Kosh, Gap, Converse, KB Toys (a must for DS as toys required and was desparate for a Furby).

The weather was lovely, very warm and I must say that in every shop the staff attitude was absolutely wonderful, I (although female) detest shopping, but this place made me actually enjoy it.

KB Toys especially helped in locating a Furby - initially we could not see one of the furry little things and DS was disappointed. DH asked one of the staff members whether they had any and she popped off into the back of the store and retreived the last one they had left and were keeping to amuse themselves! She said we could have it at a reduced rate as the box was a little damaged and we purchased it for a mere $15!!! Bargain or what!

Many many other items were bought at this outlet, with the intention of buying early so that we did not have to shop a lot.

Walmart came next and again this was an ok experience - obviously very reminiscent of ASDA but bigger - much bigger. Bought Nintendo DS as main b'day present ($120) and other stuff as well. Checkout operators here are not as pleasant as other stores but then again I don't think I would be sitting there all day serving over excited tourists. They do have a great little packing system there for the shopping though, a little rotating machine which the checkout girl/boy spins round to pack your shopping. (Could do with that back home instead of having your shopping practically thrown at you so you can force pack at speed).

Well we thought we would try the Ponderosa for tea, as it was nearby and we were starving.

Great value for money, kids were both free at this point and ate really well due to the buffet option. Inside was a little dark and dingy and I can't say that it felt like a true 'dining out' experience but everyone was well fed and very happy.

Am right with you at the 'hate shopping' thing, even in Florida!

Not me - I am really looking forward to the shopping. :thumbsup2

Shopping on the first day - you showed great restrain at not heading for the nearest park lol.

I actually dislike shopping in Orlando, mainly because I can never seem to find any of the real bargain clothes in my size (not this year ;) )

Looking forward to reading more :)

Excellent report ~ Thanx for posting :goodvibes

The Ponderosa restaurants differ dependeng on which one you go to , the one
at South I-drive is very nice.

Great report - I love shopping IF i get bargains - hate it if there's nothing I like! How do you charge the Nintendo DS - surely the adaptor is for US plugs and voltage? Cna you get a UK version? We're going to Canada later this year and I know both DS will be after one!

Hi, the nintendo adaptor was for US voltage but the consol has outputs for both US and UK. We found that the Nintendo UK adaptor is a universal one which is used for gameboys also and this works with no probs.

Happy shopping.
