I love the picture!!!!!

PINK SLIPS!!!!!! I can't really figure out how a baggie deserves a write up(pink slip) but for some reason she must have thought that it was a big infraction. What I wouldn't have given to have Cam in my class last week and only had to worry about baggies. I am sure that there is a parent or two who really thought I was a wicked teacher last week. Can't tell you how many detention slips were given. I also can't tell you how many detentions were not served. Most of mine were given for disruption of class, argumentative student, and just plain being a pain in the butt. Two boys were very consistant with their behavior and received a detention three days in a row from me. Of course on Thursday, they also managed three other detentions from three other teachers. They also decided to not sign their detention and crumpled it up and put it down their shirts and told me that they were not going to serve them. (which they didn't) Of course one told me that I would be sorry if I gave him another detention. It was all I could do to not laugh at this little jerk. He actually thought that his comment would intimidate me. Little did he know that he was messing with a Ya Ya..........(must get off soap box)

Anyway, I hope tomorrow goes better with your teacher problems. Some teachers are really weird. Both of my kids have at least one this year a piece.

Estelle Hertz...............Hee! Hee!

YIKES Betty. I sure am glad you are out of that situation. Those kids sound downright scary.

Ryan had a teacber in first grade who would flip his card for his handwriting! The poor kid is gifted, adhd, and has a fine motor skill problem but did that mean a single thing to her NOPE.

Oh y'all these teacher horror stories are scaring the life out of me! Ian is in K at his day care center (It's an accredited, full day, program). He's been at this Center for almost 3 years, and everyone knows him, and what he's like. He can be sensitive, and does not like to try new things until he is SURE he can do them. I believe the buzzwords are 'Not a risk taker'

Betty, it sounds like you were put into a vViper's Nest, and that just stinks. But man o man, a pink slip for not having your textbook in a baggie????? :earseek: And, my mom was a teacher for 22 years, so I know that side of the story.

Deb dont let us scare you.

Ryan had this same teacher for two years as he was in a multigrade class meaning there were both K and 1st in the same class. She was not as bad when he was in K but got worse when he was in 1st. I should have had him moved but there really wasnt any place to move him as she was the gifted teacher. BUT his second grade teacher was as wonderful as the other one was compulsive. She turned Ryan right around and gave him back his self confidence. His teacher this year is very good also.

For every wacckado there are a lot of good teachers. If Ian doesnt fit with a teacher after giving it some time then move him to another. There is no harm in that. Not every teacher and not every student is going to get on together.

Debbie don't let it scare ya! Most teachers are fine , dedicated professionals who genuinely love kids. Sounds like a few of us just got duds this year! But even so there are always ways to talk things out and make them better. Just one of those little "trials of parenting". With you as his Mom...Ian's gonna do juuuust fine!!!

Good night Ya'll! I hope everybody sleeps well and wakes up in the morning feeling better!!!! Sweet Ya Ya dreams!

I'm actually getting ready to hit the sack as well. Still recovering from my marathon work weekend. Can't pull these all nighters like I used to be able to in college. ;)

Night Night Jodie. Sleep well.

Night Night Debster. Get some good sleep.

Hey Yall you just stay involved parents who care about their children and their education. The kids that I experienced last week have parents who have given up on them and have decided that while their kid is in school then it is the school's problem. A school can only go so far with discipline without having a parent's support. Parents don't want to make the time to get their child to school for detentions, so the kids don't serve them. Only alternative offered by parents is a lunch detention and guess who has to give up his/her lunch to babysit them, you guessed it, the teaher. Now is that really fair? I realize that corporal punishment was abused by some school authorities in the past but I think that the return of it would probably help turn around some of the kids. Conflict resolution just can't reach the really rotten kid. They know how to use and abuse the system. Unfortunately for them it is when they run into the more rotten kid that can beat the living daylights out of them will they realize that they aren't as tough as they thought. What I feel is the real pity is that I had several of these students last year in the 7th grade and they didn't have the attitude that they have now. Not sure what happened but it wasn't good. END OF SERMON.

As has been said by other wise Ya Yas, there are some really great teachers out there, but there are a few really bad ones. This can be found in any profession. Just comes with the territory. We are all human.

Well, I am going upstairs to get some sleep. You all have a good night.

Betty--

You are so right!!!!!! I actually saw this on such a tragic level at Ian's old day care. There was a 3 year old who was EXPELLED from day care because he was hitting, biting, scratching, kicking, and swearing. I mean the F-word. For real, at 3 years old. They had meetings, they had conferences, they tried withholding postive stuff with this child, and the mother would just not seek the counseling that they set up for her (and got funded because she could not afford it) Now this little boy breaks my heart every time I think of him, because what kind of school career does he have in front of him if he was asked to leave a day care center at 3 years old, because his behaviour could not be controlled. So very sad. And, I only know these details because I helped with the Admin stuff, in exchange for a tuition break.

It is so important to stay involved. I am going to Ian's school on Wednesday to read a Dr. Suess book to the class. It's Dr. Suess' birthday this week. Today lunch was Green Eggs and ham. Tomorrow the Cat in the Hat comes for a visit. So cute and fun.
