The Wright's Weekend with the Wookie (and various other adventures)Update 10/12!

We had a nice afternoon at the resort and headed back to MK for some more attractions and the Fireworks Dessert Party.

OT-but I have to share that I learned hard lesson today. What was that lesson?? I learned that you should never use the paper toilet seat covers (that they so kindly provide at WDW) after riding Splash Mountain. It literally took me 10 minutes to scrape soggy paper off my behind..(visualize THAT!)

Okay-on to the Dessert Party. The fireworks had changed from Wishes to Summer Nightastic tonight, so we were anxious to see the new show....and eat a ton of dessert. We had a lighter lunch at the Plaza and split a light supper, so we were prepared! There we a couple of dozen desserts to choose from (tarts, creme brulee, cookies, mousse, cheesecake, fruit, cupcakes..)and I was so busy eating, I neglected to take a single pic of the food. The Electric Light Parade was going on and the castle was changing colors.

You could see the ELP in the distance and they had the music piped in. If it is very important to you to see the ELP-I wouldn't try to do it from here.

You can see how good the dessert is-all 3 boys have it all over their faces!

Evan talked to Greg for a while, then conked out until the fireworks started.

The fireworks were beautiful and seemed to have some music from when we saw the Pirate and Princess Party fireworks. There were alot of people standing along the wall, but we could see just fine from our seats.

I was trying like heck to find a good setting on my camera when Tink whizzed by-which was very cool!

I was really glad that we did the dessert party, and would gladly pay to do it again. There did seem to be quite a few people trying to get in, saying "but we have ALWAYS sat here before!!" So, I did feel sorry for the poor CM's at the podium!

We rode a few more attractions and headed back to POR for some sleepy sleep!

Up next-Hollywood Studios (AKA "We are too tired to get up for our H&V 8am ressie!")

I'm a little behind (hubby had surgery), but love your updates. The dessert party sounds like something we should try one of these trips. Your boys are adorable.

Back to school means back to the Dis for me!!!:cool1:

I PROMISE to get this TR done lickety split!

DHS was hosting Star Wars weekends and this was my "official" excuse for coming to WDW again. Ahhh-who am I kidding-we don't need an excuse to visit WDW! We just love it:love:

We arrived well before rope drop so we could pick up our GAD FP. I knew that they would be especially important today! We originally had an early ADR for Play and Dine, but the boys vetoed it in exchange for a couple extra minutes of sleep..My early risers??:scared1: My days of the Play and Dine are probably over now until I have grandchildren:guilty:

There were storm troopers above the turnstiles doing a really funny routine. The boys thought it was great-I felt pity for them in those hot costumes..um..uniforms!

Rather than do the mad TSMM dash, we decided to head to RnRC first. Boys, stop quick so I can take a pic!
DSCF9104.jpg

RnRC is the fave for my thrill junkies-Papa Jerry, not so much (note his hair after the wild ride:laughing:)

DSCF9105.jpg

That's not really Evan's hair, in case you were wondering!:rotfl:

We gave ToT another shot, like we do every time, but the boys still don't love it..and then headed to TSMM and used our GAD FP. What a Godsend!

We lined up for the special Star Wars parade (I will do a separate post about Star Wars) and had a perfect view, thanks to some great advice on the Dis! We met a nice woman, her son, and her mother. They were Americans living in Germany and we had a nice chat!

We had a great lunch at Mama Melrose. I had never been there before, and loved the decor. The food was so good, can you tell?

DSCF9135.jpg

We knew it was going to be a late night, so we headed back to the resort for some swimming and down time! We headed back to DHS late afternoon for our ADR at 50's Prime Time.

DSCF9139.jpg

This was another first. We waited a long time for our table, and then rush rushed to be able to make our Fantasmic reserved seating. (I HIGHLY recommend this, as it was SO nice not to have to get to the stadium 1+ hours early) The food was good, but the quantity was insane! You are NEVER going to believe what I am going to say next..I was too full for dessert:eek: Yes-you read that right!

We enjoyed Fantasmic, what an amazing show! We decided to avoid that mass exit to the bus and took an extra ride on the GMR. We headed to the bus stop and encountered a looooonngg line for POR. It did move relatively quickly. The next stop over was for WL and it was empty! We all eyed it enviously:rotfl: Maybe good news for you, Wendy!!

Up next-Star Wars Star Wars and more......Star Wars

Great trip report!! How was your service at 50's PTC? I have heard good and bad, but have an ADR for our upcoming trip. Oh how I wish I could have gone during Star Wars Week! I am a huge SW fan!

Isn't it sad when they grow up??.... no more Play N Dine! Although sleeping in is probably nice too!!!! (Which we don't do with the little ones)

HMMMM Dessert Party!? I think I am going to pass on it. I really want to see the ELP and if the view isnt all that great of it, then looks like we will just have to pick up something at the bakery or a mickey bar and have our own dessert party!

:yay:Hi! We had good service at 50's Prime Time, once we were seated. Our waitress knew we were in a hurry (unfortunately) and did a little of the kitschy stuff, but wasn't over the top crazy! It was GOOD FOOD and a fun atmosphere.
The Star Wars weekend was really cool, I will post pics next. I didn't feel like the park was crazy packed and it was a SW fan's dream!!

I don't think I will ever sleep in at WDW-I am always just too jazzed up to GET GOING!!

Yeah-if the ELP is super important, you should go curbside! Grab a double cookie ice cream sandwich and save the dessert party $$ for more :mickeybar!

Uh...FINALLY!! :rotfl:

Sounds like a great day at DHS! We have a ressie at 50's PTC in December for the first time.

We were at Disney for SWW several years ago. Mike loved it because he is a SW nerd! I could take it or leave it! I'd rather go when the weather is cooler! It gets HOT in June!

Looking forward to more!!:thumbsup2

I hope you are not calling me a nerd...;)

We were using our FP at RnRC for the 2 or 3 time (my dad was sitting it out) so we offered our extra to this guy in the single rider line. He got in line with us and was just DRIPPING sweat. He was younger and fit, so it wasn't like a gross sweat:rotfl: but, still, it was dripping off his nose! The boys were talking to him and suddenly Evan says "You are REALLY sweaty!!" The guy is like "I know!" and Alex says "we have NEVER seen anyone as sweaty as you!" Sweaty guy was really nice and just laughed-I could have crawled under the handrail. We later had a talk about not always saying what you are thinking:laughing:

The moral of the story is, yes-it was hot. haha

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::laughing::laughing::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: HILARIOUS!!!!

Oh, and yes, I was calling you a nerd!!;)

So-to clarify, yes we are Star Wars nerds..some of us more than others!:cool2:

I am really glad that we did Star Wars Weekend. We weren't all about standing in line and getting autographs, the high point for us was really the parade! I will make a really unpopular admission here, and say that we don't usually...gasp..go to the parades. If we happen to be walking and one is going by, we will stop and watch. The boys have never seemed to have a big opinion about it, so I am okay with it! But this Star Wars parade was the end all for a pair (or trio) of fanatics!

I have to admit I was geeking out a bit because Billy Dee Williams was there. You must understand that we don't get many celebrities in Minnesota!

I am saving the best parade pic for last..only because I have had so many comments on this picture and the troopers extra "attributes"..

DSCF9127.jpg

Do you see what the fuss is about? Very unfortunate placement!

There was fun stuff to see back by the LMA stunt show area, and NO LINE to have a pic with a storm trooper. The boys were in awe!

DSCF9132.jpg

We took multiple last trips to Endor on Star Tours. I am looking forward to seeing the re-imagineering of this attraction on our next trip!

What a fun day:yay:

Up next..My Favorite!! Epcot!

The parade looks AWESOME!! I would think out of all the parades my boys would like that one the best hands down.

That picture with the very unfortunate "placement" cracked me up! I see where you were aiming. :rotfl2:

Well-hello!! After a brief trip over to the completed TR board, I am back. Summer really got in the way of a timely TR on my part!!

Epcot is my favorite park. Every time someone is planning a trip, they ask me about Epcot. "I think we are going to skip it..there just isn't anything for the kids to do there..":scared1: I then embark on a campaign to convince them that Epcot is definitely worth their time!

We started the day early and my dad was thrilled to finally get to do Soarin'! We enjoyed all the favorites in future world, including Test Track

We headed to WS and our lunch reservation at Les Chefs de France. While we loved seeing Remy, and had really good food-I was unhappy that our lunch service took over 2 hours. I am all for taking a load off and chilling over a TS meal-but this was just tooo long! The other good thing was that it rained briefly, but was over by the time our lunch was finally done.

DSCF9169.jpg

We spent the rest of our time exploring WS. We did some KimPossible missions, and once again missed American Adventure. My poor boys have yet to see this awesome attraction! We had a dinner reservation at the Rose and Crown, but canceled it. We decided to skip Illuminations (I know!!)and go to Downtown Disney instead.

Thanks for rejoining me on my old TR!! I will finish up soon, so I can get started on my PTR!!:thumbsup2

im still here! What PTR!? 11/11 - the big anniversary edition!?

I cant believe you guys skipped out on Illuminations.... I really like that one and I love dining in Epcot too!:lovestruc

Yay!! You're back!:cool1:

I cringe when I hear of people skipping Epcot because it's not for kids....WHAT????:scared1: We love Epcot! Some of Emily's favorite memories are dancing to Off Kilter and seeing the drummers in Japan! Hello! Epcot is not only fun, but educational, what don't kids like about that?:confused3

Anyway, glad you are going to finish your TR!

PTR?? Did you decide to come with us in Oct and run the 5K?!

Yeah-the 11/11/11 PTR, with a side journey into the 5K.:)

I felt like a sinner skipping Illuminations, especially since we had an ADR at Rose and Crown to watch from the patio. I was outvoted by kids (big and little!) who had $$ burning a hole in their pockets! Lego store, here we come!

Yay!! You're back!:cool1:

I totally agree with the Epcot thing!! But if they don't go-more room for us!! I seriously make them a list to show them ALL the things for kids, and they are always like "when I was there in the 80's.."

I am hoping to do a long weekend solo to do the 5K. We are doing a huge trip in November and my cousin is getting married in October in California (Disneyland??) so I don't think I can take the boys out of school to come with me for the 5K..I wish I could though-after watching that video. It made me cry! And the boys have yet to be there for Halloween..they are growing up so fast and I fear I have missed the "magical" window:sad1:

While waiting for the bus to take us from Epcot to POR, I was able to get a reservation for supper at Raglan Road at DTD. We headed back to the resort for some pool time. (Pool time for the kiddos, laundry time for me!) It was nice to have my dad around for this! Last year, every time I needed to switch out a load of laundry, the boys had to get out of the pool and come with me! They were not thrilled, needless to say!!:rolleyes1

I love the PO resorts for the boat that shuttles to DTD. So peaceful and beautiful! We got to see the completed Treehouse Villas-someday we will have to try them out!

We had a really good supper at Raglan Road! Great food, I had a burger that was to die for! And dessert...oh my gosh. The BEST bread pudding! My mom LOVES bread pudding, and the next 3 meals we had included bread pudding. I was cruel and texted her pics of the Disney bread pudding loveliness..so mean!!:rotfl: The only thing about Raglan Road is that there are multiple dining rooms. We were in a side room and could hear all kinds of fun happening in the main dining room. A waiter or bartender would get up on the bar and Irish dance to music every half hour or so!

We left Raglan Road and happened past Nova Era setting up. Has anyone seen them? I didn't know anything about this group, but they play classical music with a rock edge. They are wearing 1700's costumes and wigs. It was VERY cool!

We had a successful trip to the Lego store and Once Upon A Toy. Don't tell, but I love going to these stores as much as the boys!!

hmmm maybe I could do a solo trip!? I dont know though... :scared1: I think I would be more sad for experiencing Disney w/o the kids that it might make it not fun for me. OR maybe I would have a BLAST!:rotfl2: It would make a lot of sense financially for sure... me going to Disney 1,000 - the hubby and kids = add another 2,000 atleast :scared1: Hmmmm maybe you and I go and take the boys and we can make it a mother son trip! :goodvibes Sooooooo many options.... but after watching that video, I know I want to be there for the run. Especially because I am running 28 minutes now and on week 9 of the C25K!!!

I LOVE that picture of the boys in DTD! So cute. We ate at Raglan Road before and will be going there again on this trip. When staying at POR its a great choice! You take a nice boat ride to dinner, get to shop, walk around after with drinks and its so pretty at night. We loved that bread pudding too. OMG it was DELISH!
