The World of Wogging.

Welcome, all WOGGERS! :woohoo: I'm so glad you've found each other. Several of you are new to this forum, so I want to encourage you to visit with other WISHers tomorrow on the Team 'Ohana thread. We hold Monday Mixers with informal prompts as a way of getting to know people outside our team a little better. We hope you join us!

:stitch: 'OHANA MONDAY MIXER :stitch:

The mixer starts HERE on the thread.

A spring chick told me that many of us gave up goodies for Lent. Now that Lent has ended, Monday is a good time for this mixer question:

What is one healthy food you always have in your kitchen? What is one less-than-healthy food you always have in your kitchen?

Feel free to post pictures, talk about how the foods help you in your training (either as nutrition or reward), and confess to guilty pleasures and happy indulgences!

Healthy item: I keep a gallon container of water in the fridge with a spigot, I have sliced limes, lemons, and oranges floating in it for just a dash of flavor! Yummo!:thumbsup2
Unhealthy item: fatfree lays..........I can eat the whole bag :sad2:

Mondays. Grrrr. :headache: I always hate them but this one really stinks. I was good about workouts this weekend but the eating got a bit out of control. Now I have to get back on the wagon. It's always hard to go back once you've had a taste of the good stuff! :sad2:

Hope all you woggers have a great day. I think I may check out the couch to 5k program tonight...

C25k week 2 starts for me tonight. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Healthy items- we always have fresh veggies because I hate most cooked veggies.

Not-So-Healthy- lunch snacks for my DD. She loves salty snacks like mommy and they are mostly 100 Calorie type things. I can avoid them most of the week BUT if the mood strikes...I can't stop at just ONE 100 Calorie pack!!

MEK I'm going on a good shoe hunt tomarrow... I'm gonna look for Asics 1st then go from there:thumbsup2 I'll let you know what I end up with..if I'm gonna do it I may as well try to do it right from the get-go:upsidedow

Paula

Hey Paula:

I hope you like the Asics. I also like Saucony. That is my second choice for comfort. But try on lots and walk all over the store. I even run down the isles. Yeah - I look stupid, but I know the more I try them out, the more satisfied I am with my decision. Good luck!

I may try to run tonight while my son is at soccer practice - depends how cold it is! Such a wimp! :rotfl2:

I got a new pair of sneakers Saturday. I'm taking them out for a test run tonight. They are New Balance, so I need to get a pocket for my Nike+ too. I completely forgot that when I bought the sneakers so I'm hoping that I can get one at Modells before I head home.

Hope all my fellow woggers had a great weekend. I didn't get any wogging/walking/running in this weekend, but I did get in two Zumba classes. I don't think I'm going to be doing that again. I loved it, but all the twisting is a bit rough on my knees to be doing 2 days in a row. I'm pretty flexible in my knees, and today I keep feeling like I'm hyper-extending my knees. Not painful or anything, just feels really weird.

I did brave the torrential rains to go out and buy myself some new sneakers this weekend. It was well worth the 20 minute drive to the nearest running store. The salesman really took some time with me, watched the way I walk, checked out the wear on my old sneakers and had me try on several different brands and styles. He suggested cushioned styles for a neutral gait since I tend to under-pronate a bit. (Roll to the outside of my foot) I was really torn between two pairs. I really liked a pair of New Balance ones. They felt so soft and comfy, but in the end went with a pair of Asics Gel Nimbus sneakers. They weren't quite as soft, but had much better arch support. I was thinking that my arches would probably start getting a bit achy in the New Balance ones.

I can't wait now to get out and start the couch to 5k program. I would really like to start tonight so that I can make my 3 days Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, but I have yoga tonight and won't get home until fairly late. Starting tomorrow just isn't as convient schedule wise. Maybe I'll just go out tonight anyways. My condo complex is safe, and the program only calls for 20 minutes. That's not that bad. I'll have to see what I feel like when I get home tonight.

Good morning fellow woggers! Hope everyone's week is off to a good start.

I ended up not starting the couch to 5k program last night. I really wanted to, but by the time I got home from yoga class it was nearly 9:30 and I was too exhausted. I could barely keep my eyes open.

I wanted to get up and start this morning. I set my alarm so I could go out around 5am and be back in time to shower, change and be out the door for work by 6:30. Didn't work. I hit snooze on the alarm and woke up around 5:30. Not enough time to get a workout in this morning. I can't tell you how annoyed I am with myself, although truthfully I should have expected it. I am the world's worst morning person. I am going to make myself go out and start when I get home today. I am meeting up with some friends right after, but I still should be home by about 8:30 or so. I have everything all nice and laid out so I'm set to go. I just hope it's not raining! I may try to run on my rebounder if the rain is too hard.

How is everyone else doing?

I didn't walk yesterday either. I had the worst day at work and I was in such a bad mood when I got home that I wasn't motivated to do anything.

I am planning to walk tonight after work though. I'm looking forward to walking outside. I'm trying not to beat myself up about not going last night, as I am shooting for 3 times a week, I still have plenty of time to make that goal this week! :thumbsup2

Sorry you had a lousy day at work. Hope today goes a bit better for you!

Yeah to all who got new running shoes! I Love getting new running shoes!!!!!!

I did not run last night. Ended up not driving DS to practice. Stayed home and goofed off, although I did do about 20 minutes of weight training. I used to do it 3X a week, but stopped and I really want to get back at it. Today its pouring and cold here, so no wogging for me!

Looks like we all had a case of the Mondays yesterday ;)

I ended up getting stuck at work late and had to be at a fundraiser for DD's school by 6:30...definitely no time for the gym. I hoped to walk when I got home but we didn't get home until 9pm...my neighborhood is relatively safe but I'm not walking at 9pm with my 5 year old!

So I will be hitting the gym tonight. I hate missing Mondays because that means I have to do 3 days in a row. (Water aerobics is Friday night and I never have time to workout on the weekends)

Ha. I just had an Office Space flashback. :rotfl: I love that movie!

It seems that the weather isn't going to cooperate with me. I think I'll try running on my rebounder at home. I've had the thing for awhile, but barely use it. I like rebounding, but the stupid thing is so noisey when I jump on it that I'm afraid my downstairs neighbor will get ticked off. I am so sick of cold, wet, rainy weather! Ugh! I want nice sunny spring already.

I went for a walk. I was quite grumpy about it but I am glad that I went. I should have walked longer but oh well, at least I went out. :upsidedow

So I get to the gym tonight and dummy Kristine forgot to put her sneakers back in my gym bag...so I had to do the program outside after I got home and got proper footwear (don't think my cute ballet flats were going to work). Way harder than on the treadmill

Heads up, dear Wish teams, members and fans! We are doing another mixer. This one is dedicated to Vicky, our own little bunnyfoo!

The question is this: What is your favorite vegetable recipe? Double points if it is not just a sidedish or salad! The points can be cashed in duing marathon weekend when you see how your recipe helped us all become lythe and sleek, knowing beyond a doubt that we, all of WISH, are the best team there!!

Can't wait for dinner, now! See ya! Connie, captain of Hakuna Matata!

A rebounder is a mini trampoline. Your actually not supposed to jump on it, but push down on your feet. It's so much harder than it looks.

I did go out when I got home today. I did day 1 of the couch to 5 k program. Those running minutes were some of the longest minutes of my life! I'm very happy that I got through it though.

The upside was that I finished my first sub 16 minute miles. I did 2 miles at about 15:30 each. (My walking recovery time was pretty slow).

Interesting on the rebounder....sounds very intriguing.

Good job! Congrats on getting out there and completing day 1!

Thanks! I'm very glad that I planned to take today completely off. My original plan to do so was only because I needed to do laundry and clean my place. My legs are so tired today! I think I had the slowest walk ever from the train station to my office. :)
I wouldn't have though such a little bit of running would tire them out like that since I've been walking the same distance for a couple of weeks. They don't hurt, just feel really really heavy.

Hey Everybody!

Don't forget the vegetable mixer at Hakuna Matata, today! We really need your ideas!!!
