The World of Wogging.

Morning! Glad you made it through your workout yesterday!! You cracked me up when you said you had to push your seat all the way back...thank goodness I work out at home, cause I could see myself doing the same thing!!:laughing: Hope you had a nice rest last night!! Are you working out today? or walking to New Balance? Enjoy it if so....I get today off...back to reality tomorrow, but it's making me nervous cause my shins are killing me....Motrin is my friend!!:headache:

I can't believe you feel down the stairs, how horrible! Was it in the snow or just in the house? Doesn't it stink getting older....it takes forever recovering from things like that!

Well, hope you're feeling better today! Happy Wogging!!

I think I'm going to check out New Balance. My SIL just came over unexpectedly and offered to take out my DD for the day (My SIL is 9 years younger than us so she finds nothing stressful about taking a child out for the day yet :rotfl2:)

I'm a social worker and I fell down 6 stairs coming down from a porch at a client's house. It was snowing so the new snow covered the ice that was underneath. OOPS!!! It was funny because their sketchy neighbor came over to make sure I was okay...or so I thought at the time. He just kept saying "are you okay, are you okay" over and over and over. Finally I figured out that he was talking to HIMSELF :lmao: I wore a pain patch on the plane to Florida which worked but I got picked for the extra security screening and I was so afraid the pain patch was going to set off something!!!!

Good luck this weekend everyone!!!

Hi gang!

I am happy to report that I did my workout today - 40 min on the elliptical and then sit-ups, push-ups, squats, and tricep dips. I'm doing the "Valerie Bertinelli" workout. Did you see her in her bikini? I want to look like that!!

D--- that is one heck of a workout!!!!!!! Props to you! I ran again today - 2 1/2 miles then sat in a firehall for 2 hours where our band played a memorial service. Now I am enjoying the almost 70 degree weather with a adult beverage and the Dis. If only my DH wasn't running that stupid weed wacker! :rotfl: He is totally wrecking my out door solitude!

Thanks for checking up on me! I made it through my workout but could barely sit in my car to drive home...I had to push my seat back and keep my legs at straight as possible to drive!!! My thighs felt completely stiff. But I took some Aleve when I got home and I was fine. So it was clearly just finding "lost" muscles!!! :lmao: Luckily yesterday was my 3rd day this week so I got to skip tonight ;)

Glad you were feeling better today. It's amazing how much those "lost" muscles can hurt.

I'm just wondering if I'll ever like working out. :confused3 Because right now I hate every second of it. :sad2: But I do feel a sense of accomplishment when it's over.

Happy wogging. :upsidedow

You just need to find something that you really like. I've always hated working out, but I have been completely addicted to my Zumba classes since I started taking them 2 months ago. I get cranky when I have to miss them for some reason. Since then liking that has really got me interested in more activities.

My heel was really bothering me yesterday. Every time I had to walk down steps I felt like my knee was going to buckle under me. Much as I hated it I finally decided that I needed to rest it for a few days. It felt better today, not great but better. I'm going to skip doing anything with it tomorrow too, and then Monday is my yoga day so that will make 4 days without any high impact activities. Hopefully it will help.

I can't believe it but I've just been itching to go for a run. :faint:

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

And now for a bit of silliness, just because... :teeth: The mixer starts here.

This week's mixer theme is "Superpowers That Would Be More Trouble Than They're Worth," and your question:

What would be the superpower you would end up being granted?

Some examples:
  • The ability to tell the future, but only one minute ahead of time.
  • Super-strength, but only in your thumbs.
  • The ability to read the minds of people whose language you don't understand.
  • The ability to see through one layer of clothes.
  • Super breath, strong enough to knock down your opponents. Unfortunately, it's because you're smells like garlic and you always have that power.

Of course, your superpower is unique to you. So feel free to tell us what you would do with your power or why you got so lucky as to be given it. :rolleyes1 Bonus points--again, they're worth nothing--for telling us what superpowers you think other WISHers might get. (Keep it DIS-friendly, though, folks!)

Morning everyone!
I just have to say, my workout this a.m SUCKED! To put it bluntly...sorry about that..but it did....not sure how I'm going to be able to race in less than a month. I was suppose to run at 8 minutes today, that did not happen. I made it to about 6 and thought I was going to die.....blah!:headache: Anyways, hope your workouts went better than mine!! Happy Monday!!

At least you got out there and did it. I am sure it will get better.

As for me, well I did zero exercise this weekend. I don't know what I am going to do with myself. I need to get into a routine that works for me!

Hello Princess WISHers!

I just did the inaugural princess half last month and am tentatively planning to do it again in 2011, so I hope I will get to see you all then. I am a walker (well very, very occassionally I wog) and I follow John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals plan.

I know when I was just starting out the most important thing for me was to get into the routine of walking consistently....I think I spent the first six months just walking three or four times a week establishing a base before I actually started training. An event in Disney is wonderful motivation and the sense of accomplishment is amazing. Good luck everyone and enjoy the journey! 2011 sounds like it is a far time away, but it will be here before we know it!

BTW - to all those new to the WISH racing team there is a lot of cool information in the Welcome to WISH sticky at the top of the E/C page.

Happy training everyone!

Happy Monday all Woggers

I did nothing yesterday in terms of exercise. I had to play/sing two masses - one at 730am and one at 4pm. My DH tells me I'm on the fast track to heaven! HAH! :rotfl: Went to a soccer game in between laundry and other household chores.

Looks like its going to rain today, so I don't what exercise I may be participating in, if any.

LL - Don't get discouraged. Pick a time of the day to do your walks. Then force yourself to go outside at the set time. I rarely really want to exercise. I don't think anybody does unless they are bionic. I have always found that I feel much better after I walk or exercise, especially when I force myself to do it. Those are the days I get the most rewards.

Sorry you had such a bad workout. Your body was probably trying to tell you something. Hope this week goes better for you. :)

Don't be too hard on yourself LL. For me, I always find that I need to exercise either before I get home from work or as soon as I walk in the door. If I get in the door and heaven forbid, sit down, it's all over. I won't get up and do anything. If I'm going to the gym I don't even bother going home, and if I'm going to walk or run outside I try to change as fast as possible and get back out the door quickly. At least now that it's light out when I get home it helps a bit.

Try to see what triggers you to stay in and not go out. Avoiding those is half the battle.

Hi! Thanks for all the advice. I've been using inter-library loan to read all John Binghams books and I just love them. Very inspirational.

Happy Monday all Woggers

Happy Marathon Day Woggers!!! (Today is the Boston Marathon for those out of state!!!)

Yesterday I only did a 2 mile walk. My DD wanted to ride her bike to the park so DH and I walked along side her bike. We had to go at a pretty good clip when she got some confidence and started flying along!!!

I have to figure out what to do today. Since it's a holiday here and my gym is in my office building- I have to decide whether to drove there or just do something outside...HHMMMM

LL..Don't give up. I have to force myself to do it and I hate every minute of it. But I do feel a lot better when I'm done

So today I'm driving home from the gym and who did I see??? LL!!!! In North Andover. WALKING.

Clearly exercise makes me hallucinate!!! :lmao: But I did see someone who could be LL's twin walking down the road. I immediately thought- LL we told you to go slow. Walking all the way to North Andover is not my idea of SLOW ;):rotfl2:

Hey Woggers -

Managed to sneak a quick run in yesterday evening after doing mega grocery shopping at the Super Walmart. Had 20 mins to spare before Ds's soccer practice ended, so around the parking lot I circled. Still haven't had time to get new shoes and really need them.

Happy Hump Day! Better yet - Happy two people going home on American Idol tonight (oops wrong thread!)

Good for you for finding the time!!!:thumbsup2

I was suppose to run today and felt kind of yucky last night before bed...well, woke up this a.m with a killer sinus infection, again! It's only been like 5 day since I came off antibiotics from the last one!:sad2: Getting a little nervous about not being able to run this week....my race is coming up quickly!!!!:scared1:

How is everyone doing? Way to go MEK on using your spare time! After a week of tracking calories and doing extra walking casually, I finally got to the gym for the first time yesterday. Baby steps!

How are you doing LL? you started this thread but we haven't heard from you. I hope you don't get discouraged, remember doing ANYTHING is better than doing nothing. Get out, walk and enjoy the weather for 15 or 20 minutes. Slowly you will get there, stick to it girl...I have faith in you!

Sigh. I still haven't been doing anything this week. I need to get into a routine and get motivated but I just don't know HOW to motivate myself. :sad2:
