I'm actually going to head to a specialty running store to try to find a pair. I am the owner of a pair of "problem" feet. Besides being exceptionally wide from years of ballet, I also have high arches, high insteps and have a neuroma in my left foot which can be exceptionally painful when it gets inflammed.
My attempts to find decent shoes are usually failures. They feel fine in the store, but after wearing them for a bit I'm usually ready to chop my feet off. I actually just bought a pair of Nikes not more than a month ago. Feel wonderful at first, and then I start getting numbness on the ball of my foot with the neuroma. I'm going to suck it up and be fitted by someone with more know how than I have. The extra money will be worth it if I can wear my shoes longer than a 1/2 hour pain free.
OMG - You're feet sound like torture. Good idea to get someone to help you. I have high arches and wide feet too and I can not wear Nikes or Reeboks. That's why I am a fan of Asics. When I had more money to spend on myself I always bought the top of the line, but now I have to buy $150 soccer shoes for my kids!

I wish you luck with your shoes. Get us posted!
