DH and I use "cool" to this day. Our kids were in the "sick" generation and still use the term.
That said, kids today kinda use the term... but I wouldn't say it's widespread. The response today is "that's lit!" I teach 8th grade and this year, more than any other, I've had to stop the kids repeatedly to ask "what does THAT mean?" Somehow, they've developed almost a whole new langugage. To be fair, I've confused them too. When I referenced kids "bombing" a test, they informed me that means you did well, not flunked it. When I explained that "to bomb a test" meant you did bad, they said "why didn't you just say they failed it?"
