The Wish is Terrific

Haters because they didn't have the same opinion as you? It takes engineering degree to know if a design works well for you as a customer? Whatever.

There is no need to be so divisive. There is no need to act like Disney is a religion that can do no wrong. It's ok for people to not like things that you like. It's ok for people to value things that have been diminished or taken away on this ship.

Glad you liked it, but why not keep it at that? Nothing is taken from you by others not liking it as much.

For the record, there are those of us that care about cove cafe. I really appreciate those who have come on and given their honest opinions of their Wish experience. Saying everything is amazing is not very helpful. But sharing the details of where DCL has provided what they promised and where they have fallen short is helpful. This way those of us waiting to board can adjust our expectations. Honestly when someone feels the need to write a review so they can ridicule and insult those who have a different opinion, it diminishes the value of their own review.

Why don't you list the details that have made this cruise so "amazing" for you. And let others have their own opinions....

I don't cruise till February 2023, but I'll share the Great, Good and Bad when I do a back to back I've read good things and bad things and I'm excited to go still I'm a go with the flow type person I got lost many times on Norwegian Pearl, but loved it so I'm sure I'll love getting lost on Wish in February just as much as I will love knowing my way on the Dream in October 2023

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I know you've cruised many times before, however I was wondering if you found it difficult to book excursions or extras because of the demand for these items. As a first time Disney cruiser, I'm worried that nothing will be available when my booking window arrives in 3 days.

Please do..! I'm currently planning to wait six months or so when the next ship launches rather than rush again. I'm crossing my fingers the ship is running on all cylinders by then. :)

Keep in mind that as is the case with all reviews… people are more likely to voice their opinion when it was a negative experience. It’s a fairly established concept. Human factors sorta thing I guess. Positive experiences typically don’t get reported on as much as negative. So it’s pretty expected to not hear as many positive reviews as negative.

I don’t have a horse in the game here just thought I’d share that perspective.

Happy debating!

On the Wish now. This is my family’s 10th Disney cruise. We’ve been on all the ships. Im here with wife and daughter 16. We are in an ocean view stateroom. Not concierge. The ship is amazing. The food and service are terrific. Everything is brand new. So much negativity on this board with prior reviews of the Wish. Most people don’t care about all the stuff that is complained about here - cove cafe and supposed dead ends / design flaws and a different kind of quiet adult area?!?! 99 percent of people have interests other than these complaints. We had high expectations and are having a great time. Just wanted to post some positivity for those who may be popping over to this site before going on the Wish. It’s certainly not a horrible or weird or disturbing experience — which is the vibe that can come off on this site. So if you are going on the Wish in the coming months, you have a lot to look forward to. It’s been great.
Is this Bob Chapek? Thomas Mazloum? Bobby, Tommy?

I had a great time on the Wish! I loved the MDRs, the look and feel of the ship, the new Festival of Foods, Marceline Market, Seas the Adventure. I was happy to be on vacation but there's also something to be said about things that weren't great in my opinion and puts the Wish at the bottom of my DCL list. There will be people who feel the same as I do, those who feel better about the ship and those who feel worse about the ship. There's nothing wrong with people listing off a bunch of negatives because that is how they felt about their vacation. A majority of the negative reviews that are being posted are specific about what they didn't like rather than a blanket sentence saying "Worst ship ever, never again" and calling it a day. Some are even mentioning things that they thought were good! Being mean to folks with a negative list of things on the Wish by calling them "dumb complaints" or "talking foolishness" doesn't quite add credence to your review. Despite nostalgia and fandom, Disney is a company like any other and should be open to criticism if they cut corners or aren't performing to the Disney standard.

To be fair, a lot of them included phrases like "never sailing the Wish again", "one and done", "total failure", and so on. And a bunch of other "reviews" were just copy/pasted from Facebook or somewhere else. I've seen a very small number of well-reasoned, thoughtful reviews posted here and they seem to all find good and bad things about the ship, as you'd expect. But a lot of the negative reviews are just parroting what they read somewhere else, including factually incorrect statements.

I'm sure that there are plenty of things to criticize. For example, the service seems to be a bit lacking, probably because of so many new hires and because everyone's getting used to the new ship. Aladdin wasn't ready on time. Castaway Club members can't get Palo reservations because there are so many concierge staterooms. Etc.

And certainly, Disney can't please everyone. Some people might like the new spread our bars while others preferred having them clustered together. Some might not like the lack of a running track while others are excited to stand on the deck 6 prow. I'm not into high-end jewelry stores and I think that they're a terrible waste of space, but I bet that some other folks absolutely love them and would be sad to see them go. And so on.

I think that it's OK to talk about what you liked and what you didn't like, but I think it's silly to say something like "total fail" or "this ship is only good for kids". Saying "terrific' without really explaining why isn't very helpful either, though.

I totally agree with you. Listing the ship as a total fail is being much too dramatic and isn't helpful. There was nothing on that ship that could make it a total fail unless I'm bailing water out of my cabin lol. I can understand if a person thinks that the Wish is a one and done for them or that they never want to go on it again if that's how they truly feel. I know that I had listed off a few things I didn't like that matched what others had said but it honestly was how I felt when I sailed. And I totally agree with you that there are probably people who love the new selection of jewelry and upscale items. I 100% believe that DCL fans should experience the Wish for themselves and see how they feel. When I replied to a post with things I didn't like, it was just to provide my couple of pennies and I tried to offset it with things I did enjoy.

I agree with much of what you said except about 100% DCL fans should experience the Wish themselves. I only budget so much for DCL and the cruises are expensive spending it on a ship that I might have issues with seems like a waste to me.

I am trying to find out if the only way to access adult pool are is by steps. I use a walker and I couldn’t do it. Exactly where are you going when you take an elevator and then have to walk??

Thanks for your insight. I've been on the Magic and the Dream; sailing on the Wish in September. Cautiously optimistic, and looking forward to it. Thanks again.

I have no problem with people who have been on the ship sharing their feedback. I do have an issue with people who haven’t experienced it going off the deep end based on someone else’s review and then making assumptions.

We are going on the Wish at the end of September and I am excited to see it. Do I think we will be frequent cruisers on the Wish? No, because the short trips and ports aren’t of great interest to us anymore… but everything I have read seems to point to it being great for those who are adding a first cruise to a WDW trip or just want to try a short cruise to test it out.

We can’t wait to see it ourselves - and then we shall see!

To follow up on my OP and a few others — we finished the cruise this morning. Didn’t get off at Bahamas. Spent most of Castaway day on the ship. Mermaid show was good last night. Seas show was great. 1923 is really nice old fashioned restaurant. Marvel and Arendelle were fun dinners. Cruise was Amazing overall. Got off express at 7am. Quickly got an uber, made the hour drive, then to Epcot for ropedrop. I suspect 99 percent of people will love the cruise. If you don’t or didn’t, that’s fine. The point of starting the thread was to push back on a bunch of negativity and hearsay, and provide hope to those who’ve booked an expensive vacation. No need to change ships or book something else because of a few posts on this site! You have lots to look forward to. It’s certainly not gloom and doom. And I’m hardly a Disney apologist - they can and should ditch their political agenda, as far as I’m concerned. But they made a good ship here and it’s fun. Take care everyone.

Thank you for your post. There are a lot of complaints out there, but I have been tuning them out and watching and reading only ones that are positive. I'm going on my first Disney cruise in November and am so excited. It looks positively awesome!
