I am a DD gal myself and the key to making coffee at disney is using bottled water... and they do sell 1/2 1/2 in the store at wl.

as far as changing, there is a small bathroom nearby (opposite building from roaring forks)... we changed there into dry clothes before flying out

perfect! thanks for the info on both counts. I would assume walking up from the boats to a room off the lobby would take some time...how long does it take to walk up to the main lobby from the boats? Can you take a stroller all the way down to the boats? can you get your stroller onto the boats if you fold them?

Can anyone tell me if the pool is good for a 2 and 5 yr old. We where also planning on eating at Artist Point and WCC. Any thoughs would be great!!

Our other hotel of choice is AKL.

Yes, you can leave your bags and bell services will bring your bags to your room when it's ready. I am not sure I'd leave a DVD player in the room and it won't fit in the safe. Maybe they could hold it at the front desk?? I am sure it's probably safe, but you never know. The only "valuables" we bring are our iPods and cell phones and if we leave them in the room we put them in the safe.

last time we went to WDW in March we just left our portable DVD player on the TV plugged in and never had any issues. They are so cheap now you can by 3 or 4 of them for the price of an ipod. I do understand that some people are very careful with what they leave out and I certainly wouldn't want to leave my wallet hanging around. again just speaking from experience.

now what about before you even get in your room though? For instance, I will arrive at WL around noontime and my room will probably not be ready. I still want to head out to the MK but I don't want to lug my carryon that will have DVD player, movies and snacks. Would it be safe if I left it at the registration desk? And the same thing on the other end. The DME won't be picking us up until three, and we have to check out be eleven so I'd have to leave all my bags at the front desk. I was just wondering where they store them and questioning if it would be better to leave DVD player at home?

For the younger kids I would prefer AKL pool because it has a zero entry area. The WL pool does not have anything like that.

WCC is a lot of fun for the kids but I have not eaten at Artist Point.

When they take your bags they willl tag them and then look them up. I think it should be safe as long as you specify to them that it is there.

I think you will be fine too. I would just stuff the dvd player in the middle of the carry-on so it doesn't get damaged if they just put it on a rack.

Where in N.H. are you? I live just outside of Nashua.

On our last trip we transferred rooms and hotels 3 times through bell services. I had all my electronics: dvd player, cameras, dvd's etc in one bag. I told the cm transferring what was in them and he hung it from the top of the stand thing so it wouldn't get damaged and every time we got to the next resort it was still hanging totaly untouched. They do store them in the back in a room just for luggage. It would take a lot for some-one other than the people working to get back there and go through your bags. If anything was taken I'm sure they would be the first suspects and I don't think they would risk getting fired. I wouldn't give them my $1200 laptop but the rest I would take my chances with. I did.

I wouldn't discount the fact that your room will be ready. We arrived around noon last visit and our room was ready..actually, we ended up being upgraded from standard to woods view. I think the earlier you arrive the better your chances are for an upgrade.

From the boats to the lobby wouldn't take long - 5 - 10 minutes at the very most. I took my ECV onto the boats - absolutely no problem with that or wheelchairs or strollers on the motor cruisers. You may have to fold a stroller to get it on the motor launches (open air boats) which are smaller and with a step down into the boat. But the crew are always very helpful.

We just got back from WL with a DS1 and it was no problem with the stroller at all. Kept him in it until the boat docked. We always folded it up. But on the larger boats you can keep them right in the stroller. The walk was about 5 mins. I loved the boats. They came very quickly never waited more then 10 mins and the baby thought it was a ride everytime we got on it. His new favorite word is weeeee!

We had a great time on our 8/9-8/17 trip. We got an upgrade from standard to courtyard view. It was awesome - I miss relaxing on the balcony first thing in the morning and then watching the Electric Water Pageant from it at night.

Our room was 6115 - here's a shot of the courtyard from the balcony:

Hey everyone! AS of 5 minutes ago WL is my current booking for our upcoming weekend trip at the end of September. It's a last minute thing. Previously (as in a year ago) we had booked AKL in a bounceback deal. Then my hubby got into the fire dept recently and we canceled that. Then he told me he has a weekend free at he end of September and the only thing open that we were interested in was CBR so we booked that. Just now I looked online at the passholder site and saw WL, standard, club level and knew I should call. Well I was able to grab it. I am very excited! As far as DH knows, we will be staying at CBR ;) Then when we put on the DME tags and get checked in at DME in MCO, I'll tell him. The object for me with this is to 1) keep this a secret for a month and 2) not switch resorts again. It's typical for me to switch several times during a planning scenerio...unless we get POFQ right off the bat. I have had WL booked a few times now but always cancel and switch due to cost. Now I am justifying it by getting Club Level to take advantage of goodies when we arrive late friday and goodies when we are waiting for DME to pick us up Sunday night since we will be without a room :) I also figure that since this is a quick trip (mainly to take advantage of F&W and Adventurer's Club last days :sad1: ) most of our time will be at MK and Epcot.

Hi all, quick question about room location. I just got off the phone with Dis reservations and upgraded my standard view queens to a courtyard view with bunkbeds.

What is the preferred location for this type of room?

Also, when reading page 1 of this thread, it states that I should request an inner courtyard view if I want to be facing the pool. Should I have requested this just know when I upgraded or do I fax that request 24 hours prior to arrival?

What a great photo. I was there with my son from the 17th to the 22nd. We didn't really have any clear days like the one on the day you took the picture. I really miss that place already and can't wait to go back!

OK, I'm going to request an inner courtyard view but I'm torn between off the lobby, north wing (better for electric parade?), or south wing (better view of pool?). My kids are 3 and 6. We will spend a lot of time at the pool and going to the MK via the boat.

Also, regarding the refillable mugs, are they a good value? We never drink pop at home, mostly water. The kids do get juice and milk but they are also big water drinkers. Mom and I also enjoy 2 or 3 cups of coffee in the morning. How much are the mugs and are they worth it to non-pop/soda drinkers?

....one of the main arguements of WL vs. AKL [ that would specifically apply to YOU] would be that AKL pool is a 'zero-entry' pool....

For you and your Mom, it would probably be a good deal so you can get your coffee..although you will get better quality coffee bringing your own and making it in the room. For the kids, the mugs would be a wast because milk and juice are not included.

I would only suggest the mugs for you if you wanted a $12 souvenir

I call my wife "mom". :D

Thanks for the comments on the mugs. I think we will skip those.

I'm in the process of ordering water and snacks from Costco. Does anyone know the correct shipping address for WL?
