I know about the concierge level suites but is there really a Micheal Jackson Suite since he visits(ed) so often?

Michael Jackson stayed/stays at the Wilderness Lodge when he visits WDW? He never struck me as the "Wilderness" type, LOL!!

If Hanna hits while we're on vacation and they shut the parks down, does the WL usually set up fun and games around the resorts to keep the kiddos from driving their parents crazy?

I was at the WL during Hurricane Frances in 2005 or maybe it was 2004, they had a ton of games going on in the lobby. Everything from "four corners" to entertainment like African singers, some lady making some kind of birds out of paper, and other kinds of crafts the kids could do, and coloring books, etc. They had the lifeguards and other recreational staff on hand to keep the kids occupied..the lobby was a busy place. When they eye was going over the resort I think we were in our room for about 4 hours. They handed out flashlights to everyone and you had to bring your balcony furniture in. I went down to the Mercantile and bought snacks, cards and I bought a puzzle at Once Upon A Toy that we all put together while locked down in the room. It was a pretty busy place! Hope that helps :)

For anyone who was just there recently (I see a few of you have just gotten back :goodvibes ), if you recall, could you please tell me exactly what beverages you're able to get with the refillable mug?

I'm looking for specifics, if you don't mind, like coke products, juice, lemonade, etc...thanks in advance!

Sure, I can help with that.
Coke products. Coke, Diet Coke, Orange Soda, Sprite, Poweraid Fruit Punch, Minute Maid Lemonade Light, Root Beer, Hot Water [lots of tea to choose from], Hot Chocolate, Coffee and Decaf Coffee.

We just got back from our 11 night stay at the WL. We had an inner courtyard room view and were only three doors away from the windows on the 6th floor to view the fireworks. Awesome, awesome room.

We were flag family on our last day (my birthday) and I think the stairs mentioned above are those that lead up to the roof.

Any questions?

Flag Family...how NICE to do that on your b-day!! We check in on the 2nd, it is my ds's 5th b-day while we are there. I am really hoping to be flag family one day...I have not even told him or dh about it since the chances are SLIM of getting to do that.

Could you tell me the room # you had? It won't hurt for me to ask if it's available. I am glad you had a nice time...how were the crowds??

Wow! Thank you! :goodvibes

I didn't expect such a thorough answer so quickly. :) I've been debating whether or not we'll purchase the mugs this time around, but those does sound like a great selection.

Do you happen to remember if any of the tea was caffeine free or herbal?

We had room 6039. It was a bunk bed room with a connecting door to 6037. 6041 to the right and 6035 before the turn to the elevators. And that is it on that little section of hallway. Very quiet.
We stayed 11 nights and there were only openings for the last two days we were there. I picked the last day as it was my real birthday. :thumbsup2

I remember a decaf English Breakfast Tea and a Chamomile (spelled wrong, no spell check here :rotfl: ) tea and there was one more caffeine free one, but I don't remember the flavor.

By the by, glad you had such a great time for your birthday trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for your answers. I don't drink caffeinated beverages, so it's good to know I'm got some tea options there. :thumbsup2

For those of you who have recently come back from the WL I have head rumors that the food at WCC has gone down hill. Did any of you eat at whispering canyon and how was the food?

We had breakfast there on 8/22 and it was good. That's the only meal we had there.

I have lunch and breakfast ressies for next month. I'll be glad to report back.

We didn't eat here this time.
We did have lots of meals from Roaring Forks. The chicken salad is soo big that it can be shared. We had that most nights and the boys had the chicken pieces & french fries. For some reason french fries taste better in the world.:confused3 They wanted them everyday.

We were there from 3 - 17 August and ate in Roaring Fork and Whispering Canyon and the Territory Lounge. Didn't have any problems with the food - it was all delicious.

I don't know if you would consider us "recent" but we were there in May and we loved it. We had breakfast there and I have to say it is our favorite breakfast spot on property. It's where we plan to have all of our last day breakfasts from now on.

I think WCC gets a bad rap from people who don't enjoy the type of food they serve. It is comfort food, nothing fancy, but we have always found it to be yummy.

I agree with the above post, we ate dinner there in June and the food was good, not fancy but good. Going to do breakfast in November--

It's looking like we might get to stay at WL in Sept '09. I saw on the first page that there is the cub's den. Has anyone used this? How was it? Did the kids enjoy it? Did you feel safe leaving your kids there? It seems like it mught be fun for my kids and nice for dh and I to have a nice quite dinner (Sorry if these questions have been answered earlier my 4 yr old won't allow me to read the whole post) TIA

Cool! I just got a call from the grand gathering number and they were just confirming my ressie at WL and said they would be forwarding my request to the front desk so we can get side by side (connecting) rooms! I know it is still not guaranteed, but I can hope right. lol I guess it sort just gave me a jolt of excitment! I can't wait to get to the WL! I have never stayed there before (I have walked through it 12 years ago) and am very excited. We have 2 woods view rooms and requested connecting rooms, 5th or 6th floor over looking otter pond. So, even though I will be happy with anything, it will be double exciting to get that too. ;)
