The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I remember watching from Pleasure Island across from the Lodge when they where building it. Quite impressive I googled and found one construction photo. I also just remembered that the Cast Member that has also watching with me said that most of the large timbers had been salvaged from Mount St. Helens after the eruption in 1980.

At this exact time in 3 weeks I should be checked into WL and heading out to the parks! :goodvibes :cool1:

I'm not going to say they are stationary but they are very heavy, most guest just request Bed Rails from housekeeping they work really well and would be safer. If you book Bunk Beds they have the bed rails already on the bed.

Thank you. My hesitation with using bedrails comes from our experience at CBR. We noted that we needed bedrails on our reservation. We reminded them at check in. We called and called until they finally arrived after 10pm. I asked the CM is he could install them, he said "No, you are supposed to do that." Well, we didn't know how (DD still slept in a crib) it was late and the bedrails were filthy. So, we didn't use them. I just had DH push the bed against the wall and I slept with DD to keep her contained.

I seem to remember seeing a picture of bedrails all set up in a WL room, but now I can't find it. Can anyone help me out?

Brave Teacher posted a photo a few months ago of her room with the bed rails.
I would be sure to take disinfecting wipes to clean any item that my baby or children would be around.

Heck I take the wipes and use them to wipe down the whole room. It's nothing to due with the Wilderness Lodge Mousekeepers more to due with some guest that are sick during their stay or just nasty.

Just use the extra pillows ands put several on each side of the baby. That is what my grandmother did before bed rails came out.

how long does the boat take to get to MK once we are on it?
and if I wanted to go to the poly, should I take boat to MK? or is there a bus to TTC (monorail hub area?).. same thing to go to Animal Lodge... if I don't do a cab the AKL ( are they really $20- a cab). not that much in New York city
Thanks Jill

It depends on how long it takes to get loaded and un loaded and usually it goes to FW after it picks up at WL and unloads and loads. I think it took close to 20 minutes. 5 minutes by bus.

There is a boat to the CR, then take the monorail to Poly. For AKL, take a bus or boat to one of the parks and then bus to AKL.

Once you are on the Red Flag Boat it will take about 10 minutes to the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground no longer share boat transportation to & from the Magic Kingdom so the trip is much shorter.

There isn't a bus that travels to Ticket & Transportation Center during the time that Magic Kingdom is open. The direct bus that transports guest to the Magic Kingdom during hours the park is open travels to the TTC only after the Magic Kingdom closes.

To travel to the Polynesian you could take either the direct bus, or the Red Flag Boat to the Magic Kingdom then transfer to either the Polyensian Gold Flag Resort Boat or take the Resort Monorail around to the resort.

Another option would be to take the Blue Flag Resort Boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary Resort then enter the Contemporary and take the Resort Monorail around to the Polynesian. (the resort boats travel between WL, CR & Ft. Wilderness Campground, you should check with the Cast Member if they are going to the Campground or to the Contemporary Resort.)

To reach Animal Kingdom Lodge I agree use one of the Parks as the Hub then catch the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus back to the resort. We have taken the the bus to Animal Kingdom then grab a bus to AKL.

Thanks for verifying that.

So the UPS/FedEx label should look like this:

Wilderness Lodge
My Name
5/25/08 - 5/30/08 (my dates, or just arrival date?)
Reservation # (same as confrimation #?)
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Thanks again everyone.

Yes, this is how mine read..the only difference was that I put "Disney's Wilderness Lodge" but I don't think that matters. I put my name then my reservation # (confirmation #) and "Arriving on MM/DD/YY") I think as long as you have all of that information you're good to go

Are there rails on the lower bunks? I am desperately trying to talk myself into upgrading to WL for our Sept trip and would want bed rails on the lower bunk for my 2-yr-old. If not, could they be put on the lower bunk?

Thanks!

We are staying at the WL for a week in October. This is our first trip to Disney. I will have two kids age 7 and 11. I have booked a courtyard view bunk bed room. We are now considering upgrading to the concierge level but were wondering if it's worth the extra expense. I understand there is value in having the food and drink available in the club, but what else about concierge really makes it worth the added expense?

Is the following statment new:

Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground no longer share boat transportation to & from the Magic Kingdom so the trip is much shorter.

The last time we were at WL and the last time we visited WL, the boat went to FW.

Thanks,

I don't know how recent the change was made, but yes it's correct. We were there 2 weeks ago and the boat went direct to the Magic Kingdom from WL and from the Magic Kingdom to the WL.

There is a boat from WL to Ft Wilderness, but that is the boat that also goes to and from the Contemporary, not the Magic Kingdom boat.
