It sounds like you will be booking a Courtyard View room and want to add a request for a VWL Courtyard (pool) View? The room location request will have to be put in your reservation at least 5 days prior to arrival for the room assignor to see it and I don't believe this is possible online. You can book online and then call the WDTC/CRO to add your request. Whatever means you use to book (online, phone, TA) just make sure the request gets noted in your reservation. Even if upon arrival you aren't happy with the location, you can certainly ask if your preferred location is available.

Thank-you, we would like a view of the WL pool not the VWL pool. We won't be staying on points this trip.

Just made our 2nd and FINAL payment today!!! :cool1: I was a couple days late...didn't realize how close we are!!!:cheer2:

I'm jealous! I tired to book the Deluxe room with our military discount, but it was excluded:sad1:.

The Deluxe rooms will have a view of Bay Lake. Most are located in the ends of the resort facing BL or trees and BL. They have 500 SF and a regular balcony because they aren't located on the CL (7th) floor.

Congratulations!

Thank-you, we're thrilled!!!

Last time we stayed at VWL I had WeGoShop bring us new lightbulbs because the CFL's were so dim we strained to see getting ready in the morning or ready a book at night. I am trying to remember what sizes to order and my notes say, "60 w candlebra big bulb". I am thinking that is was the small base (candlebra) with the CFL in the egg shape/size bulb. I am thinking that the size and shape was important because the shade attached to the bulb. IIRC, it was the same lights for the reading lamps in bed and the sink area. Does anyone know or is anyone there now? TIA

I'm curious how early do the Christmas decorations go up at the Lodge? Are they up by the first week in November?

Thanks.

31 Days until we leave on our trip!
34 Days until we board the Dream!
39 Days until we check in at Wilderness Lodge!

Can you tell we are teeny bit excited? :rotfl2:

Dh and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary this trip (even though it is just a few weeks short of our 11th) along with dd10 and ds5.

I booked a Standard Room because even thought I thought the kids would love a bunk bed room...the price difference when we booked (and checked periodically since) was close to $400 for the trip...and that's a lot of souvenirs!

A small part of me is hoping for some pixie dust at check in...but I'm trying to not expect it so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Dd and I have stayed at WL before, but dh and ds haven't. It is my favorite resort!

I've never stayed at the VWL so hopefully someone who has (maybe Minnie&Nana?) can help you.

Sorry, I believe they are put up the Wednesday the week before Thanksgiving. So for 2011 they should be up around the 16th.

Have a great anniversary trip and I hope you get the upgrade you're hoping forpixiedust:

Question: what's the best way to get from WL to Universal? We won't have a car and DD really wants to see Harry Potter.

Mears has a bus that costs (at this time) $19 per person round trip. You make arrangements the day before and they will pick up around 8:30 am and you call two hours before you want to come back.

I have used this service in the past and it was fine...no problems. My only thoughts to consider would be:

1. How many people would you have to pay for at $19 pp and compare that to the cost of a taxi where you have the freedom to come and go as you like and,

2. WWoHP is very popular. You might not arrive at 9 am.

Have a great trip.

What were we doing on page four?

Bumping us back up to page one with my gratuitous announcement that one week from right now I should be eating breakfast in the lounge:goodvibes

I'm getting SOO excited about our first time staying at Wilderness Lodge! We're actually only going staying there for two nights, since the majority of our trip will be at another hotel with family. Dh and I wanted to do something special at the tail end of our trip. We've booked a standard room for $$ reasons since this is really just an add-on. However, one of my favorite things to do is to sit on the balcony. We won't be spending much time in the parks during our stay, so I know I'll definitely be taking advantage of our balcony. I worry about getting an ugly parking lot view, but I know dh won't go for an upgrade. Are there such things as NICE standard views? I wouldn't expect a beautiful view, but are there pleasant ones at least? Are the views JUST parking lots? Thanks for any info...

I think that some of the rooms on the Contemp./MK side are Standard if they are above the service area to WC. If you look straight down from these balconies you see service areas but the straight on views are woods and maybe a bit of Poly/CR etc. if I remember correctly from pics I've seen.

Thanks for the info! A view like this would be just fine. Fingers crossed!! :goodvibes

I thought of another question if you don't mind... Do most rooms have full balconies? I don't think I've made note of it in our requests, but i don't really like the standing room only balconies that they have in many Beach club rooms. Should I request a full balcony?
