Only two months until we arrive:yay: It's been years since I've visited WDW, so am very excited to see what's new (everything!)

We just decided to spend the Thanksgiving holiday at WL. Man am I excited! Any words of wisdom for Thanksgiving at Walt Disney?

My DH & I are BCV junkies, but decided to switch our January trip over to VWL to mix things up a bit. I am really looking forward to staying here, looks like an amazing resort! Only 71 days to go!!!

We are staying in a studio since its just the 2 of us this trip  and prefer a quiet room that *might* give us the chance at being able to see fireworks. Would asking for a Woods View towards Lake on a higher floor be our best bet? Or is that asking for too much? I care more about the quiet (i.e., not having our balcony over a pool) then the chance of being able to see fireworks.

Suggestions?

We are also interested in the carriage rides at FW. Has anyone done those? Do they supply blankets in case it is chilly (it will be January after all, you never know)? Can you bring a bottle of wine?

I've recently stayed at SSR, but with three boys (6,4, and 2) it seems like this is the place to go!

I am thinking of a villa again-- we loved eating/cooking in room. When will those villas be available to book? Been trying and trying. . .

none of the villas can see fireworks...that I know of....maybe someone else was on a high floor and saw them...not sure. We have stayed at the VWL 3 times and love it there...:goodvibes

what is a good room view to request to see the "Electrical Water Pageant Parade" at the Villa's?:confused3

I love seeing the "Electrical Water Pageant Parade" it never gets old..... we usually go down to the beach and sit on the lounge chairs to watch.....it's so peaceful.....:woohoo:

and one time, while the "water parade" was going on we could see the fireworks from the beach going off @ MK (we actually didn't know what it was for alittle bit)....:laughing:

thanks !

We have been spoiled by always having a room at BCV where we can see Illuminations from our patio. Its a nice perk!! No worries if you can't see it from VWL, we are just looking forward the serenity of the resort and relaxing!

Disney has offers for great discounts and availability for Saratoga Springs and Old Key West Villas this is because SSR has approx. 552 units plus they have added the Tree House Villas at Saratoga with an additional 60 units. Old Key West has 709 units so these two resorts makeup a large number of rooms/villas available for Disney inventory to offer.

There are only 181 units at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge so Disney has very few of these units to rent out. DVC Members can and do make their reservations at 11 months in advance.

They do offer the Villas but you have make your reservations way in advance.

We are also interested in the carriage rides at FW. Has anyone done those? Do they supply blankets in case it is chilly (it will be January after all, you never know)? Can you bring a bottle of wine?

For the second part of your question. Yes ::yes:: they do supply a blanket and Yes ::yes:: you may bring your own beverages.

From page 1, first post.

About 37 Lodge rooms with King beds double as the barrier-free (handicap-accessible) rooms and have a large shower with no tub.

* Note there are more then 37 rooms with King size beds, So yes there are regular King size bed rooms with full baths.

I have stayed in a room with a King Size bed that wasn't handicap-accessible.

I would request King Size Bed with a tub.

Good Luck

Jean

It may be possable to see a few lights from the EWP from the higher floors over at the Villas, but there are none that you would be able to really see and enjoy the parade from because of the trees.

Beckie

f you want quiet you should request...Wood View rooms overlooking the Villas: (Southside)

Almost as quiet and my request would be...Wood View rooms overlooking the Otter Pond (Northside) you might hear/see the fireworks and an occasional ferry horn.

Uh oh, now I'm nervous...I have a woods view room and requsted a room on the 4th or 5th floor close to the lobby...is it going to be obnoxiously loud if I am near the lobby? :confused3

Thanks for all the GREAT information!!
We are staying at WL for the first time in about 90 days.

No...it's not obnoxiosly loud being right off the lobby. We had a room directly over WCC and the noise wasn't bad at all.

I would think the only time the noise would be a problem if you had very small children and you were going to put them to bed early and needed a very quite room to get them to go to sleep.

Other than that my experience was that yes...you can hear them singing. Was it "loud"...no. By 10:30 it would start to quite down.

We did not hear any other noise from the lobby.

So if you're going to do the normal things like see Illuminations, Wishes and Fantasmic on some of your nights you might not ever even notice the noise since you'll be getting back to the room late anyway.

The smaller fireplaces are located on the forth floor off the Lobby over the main entrance so to be near this area I would request Wood View rooms located off the Lobby 4th Floor Northside of the Lodge.
Theses rooms located off the Lobby above the Whispering Canyon Café. (North side of the Lodge) 4th floor have landscaping outside below the balconies, you may also see sections on the employee parking lot. These rooms face toward the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony. Rooms would be # 4081-4090

Beckie,
I just wanted to thank you for the help and information! You really put a lot of time and effort into this thread and I really appreciate it!
Heather

I have stayed in both, before the Villas where built we stayed in the Deluxe Rooms and enjoyed our stay. (Concierge access wasn't included when we stayed in the Deluxe Rooms)

Even with concierge access I would choose the 1 Bedroom Villa over the Deluxe Room.

The Junior Suites are approximately 500 square feet and offer 2 rooms, a living/kitchen room and a Large Bedroom with 2 beds. The Living Room Couch also opens into a bed. In addition to the couch, the Living Room has a TV, table, 2 chairs.(The kitchen area is a small wet bar and mini refrigerator.)

The One-Bedroom Villas are 727 square feet and have one bedroom with a king-sized bed and its own whirlpool tub and TV, a living room (which has a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and TV), one full bathroom, plus a sink/vanity area in the room with the Jacuzzi , a fully equipped kitchen (which includes a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave), dining area (which includes table and four chairs), stacked washer and dryer, hair dryer, a nice walk-in closet as well as a smaller closet, and a private balcony or patio which includes two chairs and a small table.

Beckie

Just seeing the difference in size helps me make my decision easier! I am not set on concierge and the room is what we are looking for (and a washer and dryer would be AMAZING!!!)
Thank you so much!
