The Widow and the Spinster take a Holiday Trip to WDW - The One Where We Only Get To Ride Half The Rides 4/6

Day 4

Today my alarm went off at 6:30AM. I wanted to ignore it and go back to sleep for a little longer, but we were leaving even earlier today than the day before. It was Hollywood Studios day!

Again this view never gets old!

I got dressed and did all the things, then I made coffee. We had used up all the hot breakfast items the day before so from here on out we were having cereal, English Muffins, leftovers, or a combination thereof. Here's mine. I had some of the Gingerbread Cake that I bought the other night instead of an English Muffin.

I think Jill had an English Muffin and some leftover bacon. Sorry no pictures.

Again this morning our bus luck was amazing. Not 2 minutes after we got to the bus stop, a Hollywood Studios Bus pulled up. Two girls on one of the benches commented on how good our bus luck was. We jinxed it at that point because for the rest of the trip our bus luck sucked.

Oh this day we had purchased the Multi LL pass, and the rides we booked a week out were Rockin’ Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Midway Mania.

We got to DHS with some time to spare before our first FP. I saw a shirt that I wanted in one of the stores. All they had was a 1X, and now that size is just way too big on me. XL or L is now a better fit. So the CM looked on her computer and said that Mickey’s of Hollywood had three XLs but she was confused because when we walked back there, they had three XSs, not XLs.

I did find a cool hat that “spoke to me”, so I bought that. Jill says I need to discuss this situation of inanimate objects talking to me if I ever get a therapist. Then we rode RnRC. Once we got in the queue and scanned our LL, we chose another ride, Star Tours.

6eb1224c-c2de-4d8d-9f87-77287289fc64.jpg

We sat for a bit at the Fairfax Fare waiting for our LL for ToT.

After riding that our FP for ST was just about open, so we headed in that direction. Donald was on the street and I was just going to get a picture with him, but he went over to Jill and really wanted a photo op with her. I guess he remembered that we kissed him on the ship and really liked us!

On the ride we got

Darth Vader, the Pod Racers, I believe it was Ashoka who gave us the message and we ended up on Coruscant.

Our next LL was Toy Story, but we had a bit of time to kill, so we took some photos.

Then we found a table outside of Woody’s lunchbox to wait. Ok, so this is a slightly long winded story and at this point the drama has exceeded Soap Opera quality, but I’m just going to share with you what happened today. Perhaps when it’s not so raw I’ll work it into the TR, but bear with me, it may be the next one before I’m actually providing any resolution!

Those of you who have followed along for a while know that I play saxophone in multiple bands. Well last year the Marching Band decided that we wanted new uniforms. The Director of the Marching Band (who was exhibiting sub par performance in his job) was in charge of this over the summer. He finally started doing something in October and we spoke on a conference call to a uniform representative who explained the process of how his company worked.

I was sad because I was leaving on the WBTA cruise in a week or two and thought I would be missing out on the process while I was gone. To my surprise, when I got back, NOTHING. HAD. BEEN. DONE.

Well while I was gone they held elections and now I’m on the Board of Directors after a 10 year gap. Fran and I were in charge of the band from 2000-2013. So at the meeting in December the Board gave me the project of The Head of the Uniform Committee. This was in early December, and once that was done we finally set a closing date for the uniform suggestions. That closing date was the day before this trip. So now that we were done with submissions, I thought I should contact the guy we spoke to and see if we could still make the timeline of having uniforms for next marching season.

So here’s where when I remembered to call the guy we had spoken to last October. While we were waiting for our TSMM LL to open up. I left a message with the person who answered the call, and they mentioned that they would forward my message.

Our LL came up and we got Beavers yet again.

At this point we had really done all the rides we had planned, and we were getting hungry, so we decided to head out to our next plan which was to walk up at Homecomin’.

There was no bus from DHS to Disney Springs so we hopped on the skyliner to the Riviera to catch a bus from there. While we were on our way to the skyliner, I got a text from the guy at the uniform company, acknowledging that he remembered me, and had tried to contact the other guy who had been in charge of the project. Of course with no response.

We arrived at the Riviera shortly thereafter.

We went inside and checked out the lobby. The decorations were not nearly as impressive as the other Deluxe resorts.

While at the bus stop, I set up a phone call for later in the day to talk to the gentleman about timing, etc. since we had lost two months since we last talked.

When we arrived at DS we went directly to Homecomin’ and put our names in. The wait was 20 minutes for an indoor table, so we continued our Christmas Tree stroll. Here is the Lion King Christmas Tree.

When we got the text we were already on our way back, we still had two more trees that we would get after lunch. I also got a call that my Ranchero was listed on Bring a Trailer and it was already up to the price we were willing to let it go for.

At lunch we ordered the fried chicken platter and subbed out the mashed potatoes for mac-n-cheese. It was a lot of food!

After we settled up the check, we finished up our Christmas Tree Stroll.

There was a Joffrey’s near our next destination where Jill redeemed our Christmas Tree stroll. This was our prize.

I’ll be back later with the rest of our day!

I think Jill had an English Muffin and some leftover bacon. Sorry no pictures.
I hope people can picture it! LOL

We angered the bus god.

Jill in CO

Not at a place like Flying Fish, I'm pretty sure that they still cook a la minute.
Oh, right. Of course not.
I think I started thinking of the cruise and got the TRs mixed up.
::yes:: either that or it doesn't want me to sleep. I've given in to 4AM and 5AM wake up calls now. :sad2:
I totally can relate, unfortunately.

Again this view never gets old!
It never does. :)
I find the only problem with cheerios is it's so bland I tend to put tons of sugar on it. I might as well just stick to Fruit Loops.
Not 2 minutes after we got to the bus stop, a Hollywood Studios Bus pulled up.
Nice!
Two girls on one of the benches commented on how good our bus luck was. We jinxed it at that point because for the rest of the trip our bus luck sucked.
:headache:
One does not mention the bus luck while one is at Disney.
Very bad Ju Ju.
All they had was a 1X, and now that size is just way too big on me. XL or L is now a better fit.
Good for you! :)
So the CM looked on her computer and said that Mickey’s of Hollywood had three XLs but she was confused because when we walked back there, they had three XSs, not XLs.

Not quite the same size.

The guy (?) behind you looks bored and just waiting for something exciting to happen.
Donald was on the street and I was just going to get a picture with him, but he went over to Jill and really wanted a photo op with her. I guess he remembered that we kissed him on the ship and really liked us!
:rotfl:
Like this shot of Jill and Donald. :)
Interesting that he has something on that isn't green.
I laughed at first when I saw this. I missed the army man parachuting in and scrolled past it. It looked like you two were agog at... nothing.
Ok, so this is a slightly long winded story and at this point the drama has exceeded Soap Opera quality, but I’m just going to share with you what happened today.

Well while I was gone they held elections and now I’m on the Board of Directors after a 10 year gap.
Um... had you accepted the nomination? Or was this a complete surprise?
Our LL came up and we got Beavers yet again.
Again!
Some day...
I got a text from the guy at the uniform company, acknowledging that he remembered me, and had tried to contact the other guy who had been in charge of the project. Of course with no response.
:sad2:

I've never been inside. I'm surprised by that a bit.
When we arrived at DS we went directly to Homecomin’ and put our names in. The wait was 20 minutes for an indoor table,
I'd wait that long for Homecomin' any day.
Here is the Lion King Christmas Tree.
Needs a dead critter at the bottom. Circle of life, ya know.
I also got a call that my Ranchero was listed on Bring a Trailer and it was already up to the price we were willing to let it go for.
Great!
I presume it did sell?
At lunch we ordered the fried chicken platter and subbed out the mashed potatoes for mac-n-cheese.
Oh, yum!
Please tell me you loved it. I found the mac n cheese there to be well above average.
(i.e. yummy!)
Then we had the Shine cake.
What's that?
I hope people can picture it! LOL
Oh, sure.

We angered the bus god.
::yes::

Jill gets it.
Donald is my boyfriend now..sorry Daisy!
:lmao:

It appears my quotes have DISappeared on me, once again!! But I do want to mention how tasty your lunch looked! My Mom and I are going to Homecomin' (finally!!!!) for the first time, in May. I'm especially excited for the Moonshine flight--she is nervous she will have to carry me home, LOL. Everything looks so delicious!!!

I am very annoyed on your behalf about the marching band uniform situation. I am super type A and despise when people drag their feet and I end up having to pick up the pieces. I hope this story has a good resolution!!

Ah, I guess I misread that in your TR. I really need to get back over there and catch up. Being gone really cut into my DIS time!
You're welcome any time! :) I'd love your perspectives on the cruise and it would be fun to compare our trips as I see we did many of the same things. Some of my photos are like .... identical to yours. ;)

And yes, travel tends to do that. :) I have a HUGE surprise trip coming up in 8 weeks so stay tuned for that!
That's funny! I've now scaled back my international travel. Part of it is that I'm out of Fran's Frequent Flyer miles, so no need to use them up, and the other thing I'm out of is money! :lmao:
Yep, there's that travel thing again. LOL!
We're going back for F&W this Fall, so I doubt we are going to get to WBG that trip. We will be too busy doing F&W stuff.
As you should!
We jinxed it at that point because for the rest of the trip our bus luck sucked.
Oopsies.... you said it out loud.
Wonderful photo!!!
I was sad because I was leaving on the WBTA cruise in a week or two and thought I would be missing out on the process while I was gone. To my surprise, when I got back, NOTHING. HAD. BEEN. DONE.

Correct. Boooooring at that one.

So cute!
I hope people can picture it! LOL
I'm sure they can otherwise they have no imagination!
We angered the bus god.
::yes::
Look at me rockin' the ride photo!
You really rocked the ride photos this trip!
And I did it again!
See what I mean? :confused3
Donald is my boyfriend now..sorry Daisy!
I need more practice!
Less than a month now!
Such a pretty resort. I need to stay there someday.
I'd go back, it's just a lot of points!
So much food but soooo good!
Definitely worth a return trip!
Also delicious but I was so stuffed!
I wasn't going to let that cake go to waste. Except I couldn't even finish it!

Oh, right. Of course not.
I think I started thinking of the cruise and got the TRs mixed up.
I was wondering....in the MDRs yes, but even Palo and Remy are a la minute.
I totally can relate, unfortunately.
Yeah, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
I find the only problem with cheerios is it's so bland I tend to put tons of sugar on it. I might as well just stick to Fruit Loops.
I don't know. I find that Honey Nut Cheerios are pretty flavorful. Better than plain or Multi-Grain Cheerios.
:headache:
One does not mention the bus luck while one is at Disney.
Very bad Ju Ju.
Doh! 🤦‍♀️ I know better than this. Why did I say anything?
:sad2:
Not quite the same size.
Nope not even in the same ball park.
The guy (?) behind you looks bored and just waiting for something exciting to happen.
Either that or he's thinking, "Why did I let my wife convince me to get on this ride?"
Like this shot of Jill and Donald. :)
::yes::
Interesting that he has something on that isn't green.
Well, he's got to be holiday festive!
I laughed at first when I saw this. I missed the army man parachuting in and scrolled past it. It looked like you two were agog at... nothing.
It took me a while to see it to! I couldn't figure out what the magic shot was!
Um... had you accepted the nomination? Or was this a complete surprise?
No, I put my own name in the hat. I wanted to make sure when the PBA comes to So Cal and marches in the Rose Parade that our band was ready and willing to do something. Come to find out the Board is full of in-fighting, problems, and can't get anything done.
I've never been inside. I'm surprised by that a bit.
It's not one of the more impressive lobbies at WDW.
I'd wait that long for Homecomin' any day.
We thought it was a great amount of time to wait, not long at all.
Needs a dead critter at the bottom. Circle of life, ya know.
:lmao:
Great!
I presume it did sell?
Yes, it did. I got paid before the end of the year even. Nice little cha-ching!
Oh, yum!
Please tell me you loved it. I found the mac n cheese there to be well above average.
(i.e. yummy!)
It was very good!
What's that?
It's like a yellow cake that was soaked in Moonshine, super tasty and has a kick!

It appears my quotes have DISappeared on me, once again!!
I hate when that happens!
But I do want to mention how tasty your lunch looked! My Mom and I are going to Homecomin' (finally!!!!) for the first time, in May. I'm especially excited for the Moonshine flight--she is nervous she will have to carry me home, LOL. Everything looks so delicious!!!

I'm sure you'll be fine! Nowhere on Disney property are they going to serve you anything that is going to kick your butt too badly. Unless you come into it already inebriated. It will be very tasty!

I am very annoyed on your behalf about the marching band uniform situation. I am super type A and despise when people drag their feet and I end up having to pick up the pieces. I hope this story has a good resolution!!

At this point it has no resolution. I would say that I'm really pissed, but I'm adopting a new outlook. Alison2point0. I don't stress over drama, I just go with the flow, enjoy the good things and let the rest fall by the wayside. Unfortunately this project will fall by the wayside. But I can only control what I can control and the rest is out of my hands.

You're welcome any time! :) I'd love your perspectives on the cruise and it would be fun to compare our trips as I see we did many of the same things. Some of my photos are like .... identical to yours. ;)
The only port that we hit in common was Lighthouse Cay, but the ship photos are easy to capture the same images!
And yes, travel tends to do that. :) I have a HUGE surprise trip coming up in 8 weeks so stay tuned for that!
:hyper:
Yep, there's that travel thing again. LOL!
Yep, it's going to be slowing down a whole lot in the next six months....
As you should!
I hope they release the menus and events soon!
Oopsies.... you said it out loud.
Yup. I know better than that!
Wonderful photo!!!
Jill is becoming so photogenic now that she is hanging out with me!
Wait! What...?!
Yeah, and it exploded into a HUGE drama in January, Board members have quit the board, some have quit the band. And I've got way more interesting parts of my life to focus on right now than buying into someone else's drama. So, nope! Done with that, if they want to resurrect that one, they're going to have to do a bit of groveling. I'm done.
Correct. Boooooring at that one.
::yes::

Yeah, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
:sad2:
I don't know. I find that Honey Nut Cheerios are pretty flavorful. Better than plain or Multi-Grain Cheerios.
Agree. They don't need any added sugar. I should get some, actually.
Doh! 🤦‍♀️ I know better than this. Why did I say anything?
Either that or he's thinking, "Why did I let my wife convince me to get on this ride?"
::yes::
Well, he's got to be holiday festive!
I'll give you that one.
It took me a while to see it to! I couldn't figure out what the magic shot was!
 So I'm not the only one!
No, I put my own name in the hat. I wanted to make sure when the PBA comes to So Cal and marches in the Rose Parade that our band was ready and willing to do something.
Ah!
Come to find out the Board is full of in-fighting, problems, and can't get anything done.
Ugh. That's unfortunate. And there's not much you can do about it. Need a firmer hand at the helm?
We thought it was a great amount of time to wait, not long at all.
:goodvibes
Yes, it did. I got paid before the end of the year even. Nice little cha-ching!
That's great! Congratulations!
It was very good!
I was very impressed with their mac n cheese. :)
It's like a yellow cake that was soaked in Moonshine, super tasty and has a kick!
Hmmm... wonder if I'd like it?

While Jill got our little ornament / button, I waited in the line for Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar. We were seated within about 10 minutes of getting in line, even though we were all the way back to the corner. We got an inside table.

After our festive holiday beverages we headed back to our room via Jambo House. And checked out their display. The tree here is impressive!

I think their display of Gingerbread Animals was the most impressive lobby display just behind the Beach Club.

Jill picked up some Zebra Domes while I rested my feet in the lobby. Then we walked back to Kidani. While we were kicking it in the room, I had my phone call with the uniform guy. Then I sent an email to those in charge, hoping they would back my suggestion to go with this company.

I finished up just in time to leave for our Dinner reservation at Sanaa.

For our meal, we went with the bread service. It was a lot of food for two people. There were nine dips and five kinds of bread. We also split a bottle of wine.

d10b4bd4-343d-4204-9b87-1ca6b6ea8580.jpg

Two of the dips were spicy (indicated by the arrows in the phots), four were savory, and three were on the sweeter side. Both Jill and I carefully tasted the spicy ones. I maintain that I only took a dab of each, or maybe I took a second dab of the one that wasn't on the end. The one on the very end was SUPER spicy. Jill said I took BIG dabs.

After that we stuck to the savory and sweet ones. I ate a lot of the yogurt cucumber dip to balance out the spicy ones.

When we got back to the room we started to pack up for the move to Bay Lake Tower. At some point early on in the packing up process, I all of a sudden got this feeling in my gut that told me “go to the toilet NOW!”

All at once it felt like a bolt of lightning shot through my gut and my colon and hot fire came out….well you can guess the rest. I was trying to figure out what I had eaten that could cause that kind of agony. Certainly something I ate maybe an hour and a half ago couldn't rush through my system that quickly!

It wasn’t the fried chicken, the pickles had a tiny bit of spice, but not that much. Certainly not cheerios and gingerbread, nor would the mac-n-cheese bites, and meatballs from the night before had that effect. My only conclusion was that somehow those bits of hot dips, somehow jetted through my system and cleaned me out! I felt like I could have passed a colonoscopy with flying colors at that point.

I was “done” too. My body was feeling the chills, the ickies and all the gross things. I jumped into bed, that was the end for me for that night.

I did wake up at around 11PM and seemed to feel normal so that was a good sign. Somewhere in there I fell back asleep.

My stats

I had always wanted to see the inside of this place! I was not disappointed. For those that don't know, Jock Lindsay was the floatplane pilot at the beginning of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Lots of Indy Easter eggs here!

Someday you will listen to me. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
After our festive holiday beverages we headed back to our room via Jambo House. And checked out their display. The tree here is impressive!

One of my favorite lobbies!
These were truly impressive!
Jill picked up some Zebra Domes while I rested my feet in the lobby.
Mmmmm, Zebra Domes!
For our meal, we went with the bread service. It was a lot of food for two people. There were nine dips and five kinds of bread. We also split a bottle of wine.

These were good but not my favorite...I know...blasphemy to the Sanaa fans!
. Jill said I took BIG dabs.
And you paid later! :rolleyes1
I felt like I could have passed a colonoscopy with flying colors at that point.
🤣🤣🤣

Jill in CO

The only port that we hit in common was Lighthouse Cay, but the ship photos are easy to capture the same images!
Yes but lots of the same things from the ship itself. But I wonder if I meant my comment was more directed to the WDW trip. :) I'm seeing loads of photos that will be identical (is LWtL, etc...)
Yep, it's going to be slowing down a whole lot in the next six months....
Sadly here too after my big May trip. Gotta focus on the new job now for a while.
Yup. I know better than that!
LOL!!! ;)
Jill is becoming so photogenic now that she is hanging out with me!
Pshaw, she's always been photogenic. :)
eah, and it exploded into a HUGE drama in January, Board members have quit the board, some have quit the band. And I've got way more interesting parts of my life to focus on right now than buying into someone else's drama. So, nope! Done with that, if they want to resurrect that one, they're going to have to do a bit of groveling. I'm done.
OY. Sad when egos and agendas come into play. Hope things get smoothed out.
While Jill got our little ornament / button, I waited in the line for Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar. We were seated within about 10 minutes of getting in line, even though we were all the way back to the corner. We got an inside table.
One of my very favorites at DTD. I was seated at the outdoor bar and it was fine. I just love the theming and storyline in there.
I think their display of Gingerbread Animals was the most impressive lobby display
The only resort I didn't get to. Now I'm sad.
Certainly something I ate maybe an hour and a half ago couldn't rush through my system that quickly!
I'm going to guess maybe something in your drink- some allergy or sensitivity to one of those less common ingredients.

I waited in the line for Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar.
I like it there. :)
Jill Ordered the Tannenbaum: Malibu Coconut Rum,
You can stop right there. Nope!
and cream of coconut
I said you could stop! No need to pile on the coconut!
I ordered the Lump Of Coal: Absolut Vodka, Chambord Liqueur, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, hibiscus syrup, and lime juice with glitter and a black sugar rim
That actually sounds good... but looks terrible!
Jill warned me that i would get black lips and tongue, but I didn't believe her. Ooops!
:rotfl:
The tree here is impressive!
It looks huge!
We took a photo pass photo in front of the tree and my lips are still black!
Jill picked up some Zebra Domes
mmmmmmmmm.... zebra domes.......
For our meal, we went with the bread service
You almost have to. :)
I all of a sudden got this feeling in my gut that told me “go to the toilet NOW!”
Uh, oh!
All at once it felt like a bolt of lightning shot through my gut and my colon and hot fire came out….well you can guess the rest.
:scared:
Certainly something I ate maybe an hour and a half ago couldn't rush through my system that quickly!
You wouldn't think so??
I felt like I could have passed a colonoscopy with flying colors at that point.
Congratulations?

I was “done” too. My body was feeling the chills, the ickies and all the gross things. I jumped into bed, that was the end for me for that night.
:(
I did wake up at around 11PM and seemed to feel normal so that was a good sign.
Phew! Was worried this was the start of a flu or something.

That Red Sambal sauce is my favorite. I'll just take it off your hands next time.

I need to adopt this attitude in my life!!! Still annoying that there is no resolution, but I like that you're dusting your hands off!

Those drinks sure looked tasty, despite the black lip color left behind!

Those gingerbread animals are amazing!!!

Uh oh, big dabs of spicy stuff never ends well for me either. Glad you woke up feeling like yourself again at least!

I had always wanted to see the inside of this place! I was not disappointed. For those that don't know, Jock Lindsay was the floatplane pilot at the beginning of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Lots of Indy Easter eggs here!
This was one of Fran's favorite bars at WDW, so I've been in it a lot, but this was my first time seeing it all decked out for Christmas.
Totally tasty!
Too much coconut for me.
Someday you will listen to me. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
:lmao:
One of my favorite lobbies!
So grand and beautiful.
These were truly impressive!
This was probably the second best after Beach Club.
Mmmmm, Zebra Domes!
😋
These were good but not my favorite...I know...blasphemy to the Sanaa fans!
Yeah....not a fan of the spicy ones!
And you paid later! :rolleyes1
Boy did I pay later!

Yes but lots of the same things from the ship itself. But I wonder if I meant my comment was more directed to the WDW trip. :) I'm seeing loads of photos that will be identical (is LWtL, etc...)
There are definitely similarities with both trips. I need to get back over and read your updates. My life has become rather full lately. :flower3:
Sadly here too after my big May trip. Gotta focus on the new job now for a while.
I gotta focus on clearing out. And making way for new experiences.
Pshaw, she's always been photogenic. :)
She doesn't think so, but ive really noticed in our recent pictures that we both look a lot healthier, that may have something to do with it.
OY. Sad when egos and agendas come into play. Hope things get smoothed out.
Nope. I've given up. Things took a weird turn. Two of my allies just up and left the board. My life has also taken a new turn such that I'm not willing to beat my head up against a wall. I've got better things to focus on.
One of my very favorites at DTD. I was seated at the outdoor bar and it was fine. I just love the theming and storyline in there.
I've never been seated outside. I like the interior and someday I want to be seated in the dive bell!
The only resort I didn't get to. Now I'm sad.
I'm glad we were staying there, and still we had to make an extra effort to get to Jambo House.
I'm going to guess maybe something in your drink- some allergy or sensitivity to one of those less common ingredients.
I looked back at the ingredients in the drink and there was nothing weird that would have given me that reaction. I'm going to have to say that those hot dips took an Express Train through my body system and just knocked me on my ***. Literally.
