The Widow and the Spinster take a Holiday Trip to WDW - The One Where We Only Get To Ride Half The Rides 4/6

Filled with stress and hard work too!

I bet!

I think the African-themed garlands were my favorites this year!

I thought they were super cute, but there were so many beautiful things that we saw!

I thought this was pretty cool! I chose something else at that booth that ended up being my fave of the whole festival.

I don't remember what else they had and I can't find my handy dandy little guide book.

I got one of those 2 as well.

I think the croquettes were my favorite of the festival.

I need to try this :thumbsup2
As long as you can keep the extraneous thoughts out of your head, it works pretty well.
Looks like a chill morning for these guys too!
::yes::
Did Jill have a coffee not a tea?!
I think she got a Chai Latte
Taylor Swift's future MIL! Nice! ;)
:lmao:
Wow! Excellent work!
Wait til you see all the others too!
Yum these do indeed look quite good!
Very tasty!

I'm here for page 2! Not too shabby :)
:welcome:
I am super excited to read about your holiday adventure. Christmas is my most favorite time to travel to WDW. Now that it's 2025, I can officially say we'll be there for Christmas THIS year!
When Caroline and Susan went in 2023 it was their TR that inspired Jill and I to move our trip to Christmastime. You can read mine and get inspired for what to do on yours!
Such a smart idea bringing some of your food from home. We have been better about getting a grocery order delivered the last few trips to save some money on breakfast and snacks at least, but bringing it along is even cheaper! I love the idea of using a tub so nothing gets squished, too.

If I can, I try to bring dry goods from home. Not a ton, but it makes breakfast so much more affordable!

Hooray for the start of the first day. Festival of the Holidays is so much fun. My son and husband really enjoyed the Cookie stroll on our last Christmas trip, so I know they'll be up for that again this go round.

Yes, we enjoyed the cookie stroll!

I hope they do the gingerbread Spaceship Earth again, too. What a cool addition.

I bet they will. It was probably one of the easier structures to create cause they mostly just had to make the tiles!

We had just finished a nice little nosh from the Festivals of Holidays Past. Then we rode Living With The Land. It was super decked out for the holidays.

Next we went to the Canadian booth.

We saved the Cookie for later. The Beef was good, but nothing to write home about. The wines were both excellent.

We had contemplated going to France but we also wanted to see the hotel lobby displays at the resorts around Crescent Lake. I was filling up from the few food booths we had already done, so we skipped it for now. We saw this cute display while leaving Great Britain.

I’ll pick it up here with the rest of our day.

Then we rode Living With The Land. It was super decked out for the holidays.

Living with the Land was so cute with the decorations. We wanted to come back and ride it after dark so all the lights showed up but that didn't happen.

Yes, the beef was a bit disappointing but the cookie was tasty!

I love this china pattern! So many beautiful decorations in the park.

Jill in CO

I don't remember what else they had and I can't find my handy dandy little guide book.
There was a Pannetone trifle there that ended up being my fave.
I think the croquettes were my favorite of the festival.
The croquettes were my 2nd favorite thing this year after that trifle.

I rode LWTL 3 times- each time I saw more of those super fun overlay decorations. Absolutely loved it this year!

Yeah, I guess it's for people who earn their money by doing something for a certain amount of hours, unlike myself.
I earn mine that way and technically use PTO, but we never use that term.
Yeah it's great! They have a staircase attached to a little truck and it just drives right up to the back of the plane. Unless it's pouring rain, it's a streamlined and faster way off the plane than waiting for all the people at the front to leave. If it's pouring rain you're screwed either way because Long Beach boards outside.
Huh! Don't know if I'll a) ever fly into Long Beach and b) fly Southwest into Long Beach... but I'll keep it in mind!
I have to really resist the urge to do that, but the more I do it the better I get at it. This morning I was able to fall back asleep after a couple hours of restlessness.
Nice. Wish I could do that. Lately it's been tough.
Especially on vacation! Don't want to sleep too late, but I don't want to be up before dawn if I can't see the sun rise from my balcony.
::yes::
Definitely Wildebeast!
Thanks! :)
We just lucked out, but stay tuned. :rolleyes1
popcorn::
It's a Fran holdover thing. She hated wasting plastic silverware, so she bought us these really cool little packs of silverware. They have everything you need, fork, knife, spoon, chopsticks, straws, a little brush to clean the straws. All made of metal and each pack is a different color so everyone knows who's who's.
Very smart. :thumbsup2
:lmao:

Then we rode Living With The Land. It was super decked out for the holidays.
I have heard this from so many Dissers... I really need to see this some day.
I won't comment on all your LWTL photos, but did want to say thanks! Really enjoyed looking at each and every one.
On this one, are those lights in the sand? Or just coloured discs?
I was thinking they should've put a red nose there, but then thought that really little kids (and some adults) might not even notice that it's a Mickey head and solely focus on it being Rudolph.
I really like this little display. :)
Next we went to the Canadian booth.

I would've tried that salmon. Yes, I know you would not.
we also wanted to see the hotel lobby displays at the resorts around Crescent Lake.
You know what? I blanked on where that was and had to use Google maps! I always think of them as the Boardwalk resorts. Huh!
Was it actually pouring liquid? I can't quite tell from the photo.
Living with the Land was so cute with the decorations. We wanted to come back and ride it after dark so all the lights showed up but that didn't happen.
Oh! That's a shame. I bet it looks even more pretty at night.

If I was not convinced I needed to see WDW during the holidays, this update did it! Looks so cool!

There were just too many things to see and too little time. Just like any other WDW vacation!
Yes, the beef was a bit disappointing but the cookie was tasty!

I love this china pattern! So many beautiful decorations in the park.
I have a serving plate in a pattern like this but with Mickey and the Fab Five. Christmas never seems to happen at my house so I never get to use it!

Living with the Land with the holiday overlay is one of my favorites!!! It's especially pretty at night with all the lights in the sand, etc. I love that they do this, and am hoping they keep the Glimmering Greenhouses tour, as well, because I put that on my list!

There was a Pannetone trifle there that ended up being my fave.
Ah. Never had Pannetone. Not sure how much I would like it.
The croquettes were my 2nd favorite thing this year after that trifle.
Yeah, I think they were my favorite savory food.
I rode LWTL 3 times- each time I saw more of those super fun overlay decorations. Absolutely loved it this year!
Yeah, I wish we could have seen it at night, but we just had so many dining aspirations! :lmao:

I earn mine that way and technically use PTO, but we never use that term.
Yeah, it's really becoming a common term. I just got an email from Southwest saying something about wanting to use up PTO.
Huh! Don't know if I'll a) ever fly into Long Beach and b) fly Southwest into Long Beach... but I'll keep it in mind!
Well you would pretty much have to do both because they occupy like 95% (or more) of the flights in and out of there. Passenger flights that is.
Nice. Wish I could do that. Lately it's been tough.
Well I haven't been having a lot of success either. I'm finding myself awake at 4AM more and more often.
I won't comment on all your LWTL photos, but did want to say thanks! Really enjoyed looking at each and every one.
On this one, are those lights in the sand? Or just coloured discs?
From the comments, I think they're lights.
I was thinking they should've put a red nose there, but then thought that really little kids (and some adults) might not even notice that it's a Mickey head and solely focus on it being Rudolph.
Do kids even know Rudolph anymore? Do they show those stop action animated classics anymore?
I really like this little display. :)
I particularly liked the one for Cinnamon.

I would've tried that salmon. Yes, I know you would not.
And neither would Jill.
You know what? I blanked on where that was and had to use Google maps! I always think of them as the Boardwalk resorts. Huh!
I actually had to google the name of the lake to write that!
Was it actually pouring liquid? I can't quite tell from the photo.
I doubt it.
Oh! That's a shame. I bet it looks even more pretty at night.

Yeah, we just ran out of time, as one does on any Disney vacation! Thank goodness we keep coming back.

What's with the people?
That's the Behind the Seeds tour, it's very interesting, like $45-50pp and about an hour long. They take you through all kinds of things and show you the growing techniques up close. You get to eat some cucumber and something else that they grow in there.
Aww so cute! A red nose would have really stood out!
I'm guessing they were trying to be subtle.
I'm curious which "regional" wines they served...
You know I think they were from Niagara, I should have paid better attention.
So cute!

I'm pretty quiet today apparently!

Living with the Land with the holiday overlay is one of my favorites!!!

It is quite festive and fun!

It's especially pretty at night with all the lights in the sand, etc. I love that they do this, and am hoping they keep the Glimmering Greenhouses tour, as well, because I put that on my list!

What is the Glimmering Greenhouses tour?
