My view differs from many here, but we bought at SSR for $79 a point, and honestly, I can't see paying $100 and above, when resale is available at a much lower price. Someone mentioned dues, so I would take that into account in your final decision.
Here is how we came to our decision, I think this is simple:
1. We will be staying in deluxe accomodations on WDW property. How is this a negative?
2. Location is important, but not vital to our family. I think BLT is a great location for DVC. But, our last visit we stayed at AKV's and fell in love with the place. Many feel it is too isolated, and it is one of the reasons I see on the board, but we loved it and are staying there again this October.
3. We rent a car. I know everyone does not have this luxury, or choose to rent. So - we dont rely on Disney transportation. That being said, we have taken 2 vacations where we did not rent a car, and honestly it was fine.
I get the location thing, but I cant justify the extra money for what amounts to the exact same accomodations. We go to WDW every year and have enjoyed every vacation, and not one regret about buying at SSR. And hopefully my post has not sounded negative, we love SSR. We just wanted to try as many other DVC properties as we can. I plan to stay at BLT, VWL, BCV's at some point.
So - most will disagree, and I dont think I am being cheap, but sensible. Same accomdations, everything is on property, and all the resorts have a unique feel and appeal to them. Based on where we have stayed, and what we have seen at the DVC resorts, I dont find any of them disappointing, or places where I would not want to stay.
