I hate to be a burden, or a "doom and gloom" kind of gal, but I could sure use the power of our prayer bunch.

My close friend and neighbor's family is going through a really rough time. About 4 years ago, their second oldest son committed suicide in their home. Youngest son (12 at the time) found him. It was a horrible time for them all, but they got through it. Then, 9 months later, their oldest son was killed in a car accident. Again, a horrible time, but they got through it. It was much harder on them.

Last night, we heard sirens in the neighborhood, and Alan saw an ambulance pulling up outside their house. We just found out that their youngest son tried to kill himself last night. His girlfriend broke up with him, and he took handfuls of pills. Then, he texted his girlfriend to tell her what he'd done. She and her father hurried to my friend's home, and told them what was going on. By the time they got to Adam's room, he was non-responsive. He was taken to the hospital, where he is still in critical condition today.

I'm really terrified of what this will do to Connie, if Adam doesn't make it. Please, if you've got the time, add Connie, John and Adam Romney to your prayers.

Thanks!

Made it through week one of the living better for Lent and so far so good. :thumbsup2 Although I am behind on my gym time. I did go last Monday but didn't make it back until today. I was supposed to go Wednesday but had a Dr's appointment in the morning and just couldn't leave work early to go. Friday my gym partner was sick and I forgot my gym shoes. :headache:

Today I did do extra just in case. :thumbsup2 I do 2 miles on the exercise bike then either do leg or arm weight machines, today I did both then went back and did another mile on the bike. :woohoo:

Dinner tonight was Panko crusted baked chicken, cous cous and curried cauliflower.

It is a glorious day here!!! The sun is shining, and the temps are supposed to be in the low 60's!!! Hooray!!!

I'm making bread, right now. My family have fallen in love with the 7-grain bread and the English muffin toasting bread, so I'm trying to keep ahead of demand!

Dinner tonight will be broccoli-cheddar soup. We got a couple of gorgeous heads of broccoli in our basket on Saturday, and I started craving soup!

Ellen - I am proud of Jacob! As of right now, he has 4 badges, he'll get at least 3 more at the next court of honor, and probably more, as he's working on a few on his own. He needs 21 to get his Eagle (and his project, of course), so he's well on his way. However, the thing that makes me the most proud, is that he told me he's going to make sure that his cousin (who is severely autistic) gets his Eagle at the same time.

Glynis what a wonderful young man you have raised. Does he have any ideas for his project?

 Oh my goodness my prayers are with the family. I have seen the power of these women and you are right in saying this is the first place I think of going. Please keep us posted.

Nan ~ Yes we are getting VERY excited. She is now 36 1/2 weeks - 12 days longer than Elizabeth was when she had Liam - so even if she went now all would be ok. At 37 weeks they consider that full term to 40 weeks. So we are just playing the waiting game and I have my phone pretty much glued to me.
Congrats on the 7 lb loss. Way to go girlfriend!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Alison ~ Your urban garden is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I really hope you get the 3rd rental rented soon - you need to rest up. I worry about you.

Merle ~ I am so impressed with your determination and dedication to Lent. Good for you, the gym time will really make a big difference. Good for you!!

Jen ~ Good luck with the short ribs. I am sure they will be perfect - can't wait for the porn.

Laurie and Brandi ~ :flower3: hope you both have great days.

WooHoo it's supposed to be close to 70 out today. Spring really is coming. But I wouldn't hold my breath too long cuz I just bet we will be hit with a monster snow storm yet. Our worst ones always hit in March. But for today I will throughly enjoy it. Maybe even take Cooper for a nice long walk.

WFDT ~ American Chop Suey, corn and biscuits.

Make it a great day all.

Ellen - That sounds like a nice fun weekend. Hopefully I'll have one of those someday soon.

Glynis - How wonderful for Jacob and that he is so thoughtful of his cousin, that's just sweet!

Brandi - I hope your DH assembles those enchiladas! That's a lot of work for after your first day back!

WFD? Sandwiches! I just decided that I'm having a turkey club and Cole slaw. Fran can have that it another open faced hot turkey sandwich, but I need to use up some of the turkey I cooked on Saturday since we still don't have a new freezer. I think the next three days will involve turkey in one way or another!

Yes, the enchiladas did not happen... We ate left overs and I went straight to bed. Like at 8:15 and did not get up one time until this mornings alarm....

I have to stay late tonight, I have to close the facility, and I will not get home until after 7. So it will be fast food tonight.

Oh honey... I am sorry to hear this.

Prayers for us are on the way.

I have lost 7 pounds so I am feeling pretty good about my carb avoidance. I miss my bread and potatoes and rice and cereal and cake and brownies and cookies and ice cream and chocolate..................you see how I got here?????:rotfl2:

Dinner was a ham steak, steamed broccoli, and a stirfry of zucchini, mixed bell peppers, onions. A huge mixed green salad too.

you are doing so well, you must have some serious strong will to give up carbs....

Congrats on your weight loss

Congrats..... Hopefully I can get to walk some by this weekend... I am looking forward to walking around the block! :woohoo:

Merle ~ I am so impressed with your determination and dedication to Lent. Good for you, the gym time will really make a big difference. Good for you!!

Thank you. I really need to buckle down when it comes to the gym. I wish we could have a small gym facility here at the office with just exercise bikes, treadmills and machines like that. I like the bike I just don't have the space for one at home and it would be nice to ride it every day. It would be a bit of a pain to go to the gym every day as it is not on my way home.

Congrats..... Hopefully I can get to walk some by this weekend... I am looking forward to walking around the block! :woohoo:

Thanks. Hopefully you can get to do that, maybe on Thursday as it is supposed to be close to 70. :thumbsup2

Dinner tonight will be salmon, one of the many rice medleys I have in the pantry, green beans and leftover cauliflower.

I got almost all of the pantry and all of the freezer cataloged this past weekend and oh my stars! :sad2: We have too much food for 2 people. I have 3 boxes of quoina, we have at least 15 boxes of different types of pasta (spaghetti, different noodles, orzo) :sad2:, a LOT of different rice packets, enough stuffing mix to feed 50 people for Thanksgiving, about 10 lbs worth of shrimp, and on and on and on.....

I'll be fine in the event of a Zombiepocolypse. :rotfl: However I don't have any Twinkies. :headache: ;)

March is a doozy here too. It si nice out today, cold but sunny. I always figure if we make it through March we are golden. I never trust March though so fingers crossed

Your on your way to cruisin for this new baby :cloud9:

you are doing so well, you must have some serious strong will to give up carbs....

Congrats on your weight loss

no will power at all. I just am out of clothes...............again. I am not buying new after all of this.

Nan~ You go girl!!!

I may die without carbs. But, that's just me.

I'll post as much porn as ya' want girlfriend!

I'm doing my best, and I'm hoping to get a massage in the next week or two. Congrats on your weight loss. Cutting out the carbs will do it every time! I can't deal with that kind of diet right now since we have all the "stuff" going on. Now that we have two apartments rented and the third one is in rennovations, we have a break. Hopefully the gardening will actually give me some peace, and once the last one rented, I can rest some!

!

I got all off track when we had our stuff. First it was Irene, my town was fine but our weight loss center was hammered and out of power for ten days. I just went back after Donny's wedding and then Storm Alfred..............I could have stayed on but in my house it was comfort foods for a crowd and I dove in. After that it was this wicked stressful winter. You don't need to worry about cutting back, not now. I am a firm believer in one thing at a time and not setting myself up to fail and stress and diets equal failure for me.

DInner is going to be chicken of some kind, salad and a green veggie. I need to go to see Bud's mom after the girls go home so this meal needs to be fast

I have a spreadsheet of my freezer and my alcohol... It is funny to see how much we have...

Now that the son has moved out :woohoo: it will mean that the food will last longer.

I have almost emptied out my pantry, I just have staples, and some chocolate (that is a staple right)

Glynis, that is so sad about your neighbor's family. I hope the boy will be OK!

Nancy, congratulations on the weight loss. I don't think I could give up carbs. I love my pasta and bread! I do need to loose a little weight but I am going to have to think of another way to do it!

Hi to everyone else too!

WFD: spaghetti with spinach, mushrooms, and Mt. Tam cheese. It's a recipe from the Whole Foods website.

Enjoy the nice weather while you can. This is our nice time of year, once it starts to get up over 100 degrees, no one wants to go outside!

Take it easy! You have quite a ways of recovery to go, don't wear yourself out with work!

Good luck on getting to the gym! We haven't been in a couple years, in fact our gym went bankrupt and I'm not even sure what we are going to end up doing about membership.

That's a lot of food to have in the house for two people, it kind of sounds like my house!

March is a doozy here too. It si nice out today, cold but sunny. I always figure if we make it through March we are golden. I never trust March though so fingers crossed

Keep up the good work. I know what you mean about not buying new clothes! And it's always harder to keep up a good diet when you are stressed out.

I really should put what I have on a spreadsheet. At one point, I made a list of everything in the freezer, but it's the pantry that gets me. I always forget what I have in there. I bet that I could go almost six months without shopping. I wouldn't eat very balanced meals, but there would be plenty to go around! :rotfl:

Tonight for dinner is turkey sandwiches on our way to band rehearsal. Mine will be turkey salad while she has turkey au natural....

I am trying to be pretty good, I have spent most of the day so far, planted at my desk. I am wearing a pedometer to see how much walking I am doing. Days when I was at the house I was getting anywhere from 500 to 600 steps. Yesterday I did over 4800 steps.

no wonder I was tired....

Today so far I have, 2269.

I hate to be a burden, or a "doom and gloom" kind of gal, but I could sure use the power of our prayer bunch.

He was taken to the hospital, where he is still in critical condition today.

I'm really terrified of what this will do to Connie, if Adam doesn't make it. Please, if you've got the time, add Connie, John and Adam Romney to your prayers.

Thanks!

.... OMG, that's awful! Hope he makes it....
