Love that name, sounds happy. :dance3:

I love technology, she was drivin' home 'n on the bluetooth with me when the text 'n oddly enough franandaj's post came thru. How's that for timin'? :goodvibes

the phone company must have know it was important :rolleyes1

Buddy would love you! And Brian is a really good friend to have. He is a quiet man so when he and Welby are together it is hysterical! He raises the beef and she keeps coming home with "hay-burners". She loves animals so if she hears of large animals who need a home she gives them one. Right now Bud and Dan are at teh farm cutting up wood and I can bet that the goats are pulling rags out of their pockets and grabbing the strings on their boots :lmao:

It's my dream in life to have a whole herd of miniature goats. :lmao:

Tonight's dinner will definitely be the cheeseburger salad. I ran it by the kids and Alan and they are all excited to try it. They love taco salad, so I'm hoping this will be as good. It would be nice to have another salad-y meal that I know they'll eat!

Have a great day, everyone! I'll check back in for updates on Brandy!

Hope you're feeling better, honey!

Let us know how the salad is!

It is to be a balmy 60 -70 out today. It feels more like Spring than the middle of January. But I will take it.

Ethan has his Christmas program tonight. It was postponed from December during our one and only blizzard. I am really looking forward to it, (Doug is staying home to babysit Liam - Lucky duck) but it will seem funny hearing Christmas songs. Oh well they will be so cute and he is so excited.

WFDT ~ Salmon with a mango relish, boiled/parsley potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts and hot tea.

Make it a great day everyone!!

I hope you enjoy the program! Christmas continues in January! :teeth:

First off...Thank YOU to everyone for thanking my DH for his service.

Second..We will be having ham and buttered noodles for dinner tonight.
**Yep...ham steak, cut into bite sized pieces and mixed in to some buttered egg noodles. It's one of DH and the kids' faves.:confused3

Thrid...I need some new meals guys. I have NO creativity in the kitchen WHAT SO EVER and constantly make the same few meals.

Here are my standby meals:
Pot roast
Lemon chicken and rice
Spaghetti
Asian chicken or steak(like teriyaki over rice)
Shake and bake or oven fried pork chops

Go to sides:
Broccoli
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Mac and cheese
Green beans with fried garlic

Any ideas are helpful, but I am a sucky cook....so easy please.

One of my other favorite blogs for easy recipes is plainchicken.com :thumbsup2

one of our fav's and MR A's personal requests for his birthday meal is porcupine meatballs. It is a very difficult meal is takes hours and hours of prep.

Ground meat mixed with an egg, rice (uncooked) grated onion, cause I have a kid that can find onions at 20 paces salt and pepper. Put in crockpot with V8 juice and sliced green pepper. Now go and lay down for the rest of the hours and hours.

I will conquer this next!!!

Thanks! That makes me feel better.

I LOVE to cook and I have a ton of books and I am subscribed to a bunch of recipe magazines!

But I have a lot of trouble deciding on things to make. I think I'm just going to make things that sound good as opposed to worrying about who will or won't like it.

I just don't think I am a great cook. I am "book smart" about food and cooking, but I have a really hard time PHYSICALLY doing it! I can follow a recipe to a T and have it come out wrong.:confused3 PLUS...I am SO one of those people that cut every piece of meat to make sure it's done.

I hope it is something I will grow into and get better at. I DESPERATELY want to be this revered cook...But it's just not happening. I just tell myself it's like singing...You have it or you don't. But I'm going to keep working at it.

The more ya' do it, the better you get, I think. I don't think it's like singing at all. Cooking isn't easy. You have to practice. Maybe it's more like band. :lmao:

Hi y'all! I'm home from work.

I came home to dinner made. UncleR made potato pancakes, including special ones just for me, just like I like 'em. :lovestruc

I feel meh. Not as bad as yesterday, but not good. But, now that I'm home I'm able to relax!!

Tomorrow's already Friday! Of course I took off the middle of the week so it snuck up!

 all around.

It's the term that AKL lovers use to identify themselves. Some of us are a little more of Kidanites, favoring the Villas over the main lodge. Since it describes lovers of AKL/V, of course it's happy! :goodvibes

Just relax and keep practicing! That's what it takes. Alan had to eat some "interesting" meals for a while, but he was a good sport about it. The more you practice, the better you get at "feeling" cooking.

I am actually feeling much better today! My throat is still scratchy, but I'm not as run down and exhausted feeling as I was!

I'll definitely let you know how the salad is. I'm getting ready to start the meat, now.

I second plainchicken.com. It is a fantastic site for easy recipes!

Attention, attention, all WFD'ers... the results are in. The Cheeseburger Salad was a MAJOR HIT!!!

It was so simple I almost can't believe it, and every single one of my picky eaters cleaned their plates!!!

Here ya go:

Brown up 2 pounds of hamburger. Drain. To the meat add 1/3 cup ketchup, 1 tsp. yellow mustard, 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard, and 2 Tbsp. of your favorite bbq sauce. Stir it all together. Set aside and keep warm.

Cut up 4 hamburger buns into 1 inch cubes. In a skillet melt 2 Tbsp. butter. Add the cubes and toss to coat in the butter. Cook for 10-12 minutes, while you continue to add butter, 2 tablespoons at a time, until you've used an entire stick of butter.

On a plate, pile up some chopped lettuce greens. Add a scoop of the meat on top. Finish your salad with grated sharp cheddar cheese, chopped tomatoes, and chopped dill pickles. You can also add red onion rings, if you like (my family doesn't, so I left these off).

This was so warm and yummy!!! Next time, I'll make more meat, though, as several of my kids wanted more and there wasn't enough. A couple of my kids added a drizzle of ranch dressing to the top of the salad.

I can't believe I never thought of this before! Thanks, PW! We eat taco salads at least once a month, and tuna salad, as well. This is the same idea! Very good!

Okay, you convinced me! It's going on the "to try" list!

Good morning ladies! :goodvibes

It's Friday and I'm feeling a bit better. Not 100% but better!

And today is beef jerky day in the UncleR/G-Luv house! :cool1: :lmao:

Have no idea what tonight's dinner is. We have some leftovers so we may go in that direction. I'm just so glad it's the weekend!

Y'all have a great Friday and an even better weekend!

Morning, all!

Thanks for the well-wishes yesterday. I did few things and ended up laying down for about an hour. I never really went to sleep, but I did get rid of my headache. I think I have the sinus thing going on again because when I sit up after laying down, my ears are kind of "poppy" like and I can feel sinus drainage. Ugh. But I am feeling better today. Woo hoo!

I am going out to Panera with a friend today. We are going at an odd time so I asked Scott if he minded if I didn't cook and just brought him something home from there. His answer was, "Did you seriously just ask me that?" LOL! He loves Panera and would never turn down an offer to get food from there.

Ladies, this weather is wreaking havoc on my poor hands. Plus, there is a nasty gastrointestinal bug going around so I have been washing my hands like crazy. Now my knuckles and the insides of my palms are white and cracked. To that end, I've decided to go get a manicure today  I haven't had one in a few months so I am going before lunch with my friend. Woo hoo for me!

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for the update on Brandy!

Oh and FYI, here's a link to my blog. I haven't gotten to cooking part of it started yet, but I'm working on it!

Jen just got the text 'n David said Brandi's outta surgery, in recovery 'n all went well.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to hear that!

I love AKL! It is my fav of all the resorts that I have stayed at. Marisa is a Poly girl and we both will stay happily at POFQ but AKL is :cloud9: for me

I am actually feeling much better today! My throat is still scratchy, but I'm not as run down and exhausted feeling as I was!

!

Good thing you are feeling better! I saw the meal was a hit! I think I want that soon!

Morning, all!

Thanks for the well-wishes yesterday. I did few things and ended up laying down for about an hour.

Glad you are better! I suggest you ask for a paraffin treatment if your hands are that sore. It will help a lot. Thanks for the link!

I am out of commission today. I have no idea what I did but I did it to my ankle. I have been icing it and it is a little better but  it was bad this morning! I needed to work today but that is out of the question. Buddy and Dan are cutting up logs into manageable lengths so I am going to stay on teh couch.

Dinner was a hit last night! My soup somehow turned into a pot of something thicker than a stew so Buddy said he would eat it. He passed on teh cheese but declared it delicious! I added the cheese to mine and it was :thumbsup2

Afternoon, all! It's been a busy day, here and I haven't had a chance to check in with anyone.

It's so hard to believe it's winter, what with the weather we've been having! 50 degrees again today! Wow!

Not sure about dinner, tonight. I'm hoping I can talk Alan into going out. We got some gift cards for Christmas that need to be used, and we haven't had a date since early December! I think it's past time.

If that happens, Katie will take care of dinner for the kids.

It's in the 60's here today and was in the 20's earlier this week. I walked out of the office today wearing my coat and switched to a sweater when I got to my van and still felt a little warm wearing that.
