The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Forgot to tell you all, I made PW's Sesame Noodles and added some shrimp. It was all I could do not to eat all of it in one day! :cloud9: I sauted the shrimp in a little olive oil and garlic then finished it off with a little of the sauce.

I have never checked out her blog until last week when I was in the hospital and I really want to try some of her food. She is making a KILLING on her blog - lucky woman!! I'll def have to try the sesame noodles!

Amy the dinner went very well the food was really good and everything came out hot and at the same time.

Glad it went well :thumbsup2 Getting everything to finish at the same time is one of my biggest dinner party headaches.

Welby is not happy! She has been able to place two but not even the local rescues want roosters. She cannot put them in with her hens so Buddy keeps telling her he will take them off her hands....hmmmm....that is never going to happen! What has us peeved is that someone dumped these animals off in an area that has plenty of animals who would make them dinner. Definately a nasty thing. We used to have folks drop off cats at the farm. Yup....nice farm, kitty that they no longer wanted was going to do well with feral barn cats just waiting to kill them. I cannot tell you how many kittens we caught and placed just to have more find their way in.

I honestly don't know if my animal loving heart could handle living out in the country due to all the dumped animals. I guess if we did live on land, I'd just keep them all  I stop to help any stray I find in our 'hood. It's so nice of y'all to try and help those poor babies. I will never understand why people think it's okay to do that to living beings :confused3

Good morning! I hope you all had a good weekend. I am going to the Museum of Science today with my parents, Laura, Liam and Caili to see the Harry Potter exhibit. John has to work.

Have fun! Bummer that John has to work though!

Hey y'all

We're on the road again! Finally, I had trouble falling asleep last night. But happily we r now 134 miles out. Alexis keeps thinking she sees the TOT! Lol

we'll head into MK after cheking into WLV!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Have a safe drive!

Hey! It's Monday......where is the chocolate??????? Becky, i always wondered why Monday meant chocolate, I would end up wanting it every day :rotfl2:

Nan, I love chickens.......I always wanted chickens & 2 white ducks.
Kady is my kind of girl.....How is Welby feeling?

Hoping everyone is snuggled in on this long holiday weekend.
Maria- I am home and not heading out again. You would love these chickens, they strut around cooing :goodvibes Welby has been fighting this cold thing we all have been taking turns with. Yesterday her DH invited some friends over for the 500, she had told him that it would be fine. Normally she loves company but she said it seemed so loud to her all of a sudden. She packed Nola and ran down here to see if she could take a nap. Poor thing, she forgot that she is pregnant and a little under the weather so it all overwhelmed her all of a sudden. Her DH and their friends know her well enough to know that she just needed a little space for a few minutes and we were all happy to have Nola entertain us.

Donny taught her to rumble/grumble if you ask her what Pa says so she was telling grumbling away. :lmao:

I am so envious of you! Alexis must be a riot for you all. Is she singing her way to MK? :goodvibes

And, if any of you are wondering, Hailey does NOT like the snow. She didn't like me taking her outside when it was falling, and she did not want to go out in it. I opened our front door and brought her to the door. We could see the snow through the glass storm door. I kept pointing and telling her to look at the snow. She got so disgusted with me, she tapped on the glass door like "I see it, you idiot" and closed the wooden door.

Kenny even brought a snowball inside and handed it to her in hopes she would be interested. She picked it up, fussed at him, and handed it back. If it hadn't been for the dog, Kenny wouldn't have had anyone to play in the snow with.

I am with Hailey! I would not mind snow before Christmas, i don't mind one doozey of a snowstorm. I am sick to death of cold crunchy snow that is good for nothin! I want Spring!

Okay, I am one step closer to dinner. I thawed out a package of ground turkey.

Hi Everyone,

We're back from the Harry Potter exhibit and the Science Museum. It was SO crowded. The parking lot was already full when the kids and I arrived shortly after 10, and the museum only opened at 10. It was nuts. We really enjoyed the Harry Potter exhibit though. I was impressed with how many costumes, props and set pieces were on display. Caili did not like one section that was devoted to the villains, but otherwise, we all enjoyed it.

We are enjoying watching the Olympics as well. Caili was mad last night because she only got to see three of the pairs skate before it was time for her to go to bed. Hopefully, the performance are available On Demand, or she is going to be really mad.

Sheryl -- Congratulations on the points. Have a great time!

Some how I was blessed with a kid that does not appreciate the wonders of good gravy. Where did this kid come from. He does eat candy he collects it now the gravy thing. He was given a chocolate reese heart on thursday, it is staring at me from the frig still. that's it he is from Mars

 My two won't eat gravy either. I don't get it. Chocolate, however, does not stand a chance in our house.

I'll be glad to not be "in between" anymore.

You'll be settled in before you know it. Have fun at Mardi Gras!

Nancy -- Poor Welby with the animals! I hope she finds suitable homes for those birds soon.

Joanne -- I'm glad your dinner went well.

Hailey does NOT like the snow.

I've always known she was a smart girl! :)

Aimee-- I'm sorry you didn't have a more special Valentine's dinner. You should save that for when you are feeling 100% better.

Well, now I have to get us back out the door for skating. Takeout is sounding like a pretty good idea for dinner.

:lmao: :rotfl: I can so picture that kind of look with her closing the door. Priceless!! :lmao:

Okay - I don't know what the board did over the weekend, but it will not keep me logged in. :confused3

Hope Kat and Sheryl are enjoying themselves!

Poor Welby - I don't blame her for wanting to get out if that house.

I guess at some point, I'm gonna need to check out that PW site. Just what I need, more recipes! :rotfl:

Gretchen, loved the Hailey story...princess:she is a priceless princess! I don't like the snow either.

Kat & Sheryl, give Mickey a hug for DS & DD!

WFD- baked cod, fries (DH's request) and roasted asparagus.

:rotfl: Make no mistake girls, I agree with her completely! As a matter of fact, I think that makes her much smarter than Kenny, who was all too happy to romp in it with the dog. :rotfl: I wish I had video taped that. Kenny was throwing snow balls at the dog and being the good little lab that she is, she retrieved every single one of them. :rolleyes1

Hailey much preferred staying warm and watching TV. And of course, since her valentine from her aunt arrived with one of her favorites - See's butterscotch lollipops, she was just fine where she was, thankyouverymuch. If she could have made her stupid parents understand quicker, all would have been perfect. ;)

Well it's back to the grind tomorrow. And it's snowing. :headache:

Dinner tonight is going to be crablegs.

Gretchen I can only imagine Hailey's disgust with the cold and the snow. :rotfl2: I am glad she was warm and snug with her lollipops.:cutie:

Laura, Becky I am glad you got to see the Harry Potter exhibit. It was really quite fascinating to see the costumes. Alex was amazed that he was taller than them. I could have spent more time but it was crowded here also.

Tonight is leftovers. We have enough leftovers to feed an army.

Gretchen, the Hailey story is great:lmao:
Kenny outside in the back yard playing "catch" could have won you some cash on America's Funniest Videos.....

Dinner tonight is the lobster we were supposed to have last night....

Hey all, quick check in. The kids and I are in Pgh. We will go home tomorrow. Having a nice time...didnt really do too much. the weather has been yucky. We did go to the car show which I am glad...we decided to get a new Toyota Sienna when they come out. We are rapidly growing out of my H3.

The house is coming along fast! Oh my! I need to upload some pics to FB.

Gretchen, loved the Hailey and Kenny story!

I hope everyone is doing well. I am doing OK. I have my moments still but I guess that is expected.

I am going to be really busy the next couple months with the move. I gotta get organized so I can at least keep up here. I miss you guys!

Dinner tonight is pot roast, carrots, potatoes and corn. I am using a cooking bag which I never did for pot roast but it smells good.

The other day I made fettucini alfredo...the recipe from Alfredo's formerly in Epcot. It was really good! Right to my butt it went. I need a diet! :lmao:

xo

It was really quite fascinating to see the costumes.

Yeah, Becky and I couldn't believe how tiny Emma Watson's waist was.

Lauren -- I'm happy to see you here. You are certainly entitled to moments. You have been through so much. I would think having the move and being busy would be good, but take breaks when you need them.

I did get takeout -- Indian food for me and pizza for the kids.

Gretchen- I love the Hailey story! And I completely agree with her, I am not one for the outdoors during the winter and would much rather watch TV and eat candy!

Laura- I partially saw the Harry Potter exhibit twice these last few months and really enjoyed it too. I took my 12 year old niece the first time and she was completely amazed and in there for quite a while. I was so impressed I took Mike back the next weekend. Both times Z lost interest quickly and I moved him on to other parts of the museum. We're members over there and I am going to be so happy when its over because the crowds have been unbelievable.

Lauren- the next few months sound really overwhelming, make sure to take care of yourself too.

We did wind up going out tonight because I had errands to run. My SIL sends me a list of things her kids want for their birthdays each year. That alone is tacky to me but this year after I bought them she then emailed me that they changed their minds and really want gift cards to a specific store. I was not amused but went and returned the presents and bought the gift cards. And yes she knew I already bought the presents and yes I know I should have just told her a gift is exactly that and she should take what I send and do with it what she will (and I had a few suggestions as to where she could put the unwanted gifts as well).

Holy Moly, that is brassy!

I saw her on Facebook. I think she's okay, just kinda busy.

Thanks Vickie!

Good to hear from you.

I escaped the house tonight... it was probably too soon but I needed OUT. I put on real clothes, put a ballcap on, and we went to Logan's Roadhouse for dinner. It was delicious and it was so nice to get out in the real world again. I'm completely spent but it was worth it. Tomorrow I'm going to venture to the library for a quick trip (with DH of course) if I feel up to it. I want to get some TV series on DVD to watch.

Just popping in pic, be back later to catch up. Spaghetti carbonara:

Happy Mardi Gras!

I'm trying to get to a parade with a friend. She overslept so I'm just waiting right now. We are just planning to do one parade today.

I don't go back to work until Thursday. I hope I get a lot done around the house tomorrow.

Do y'all usually get off that many days for Mardi Gras?

Someone from the church is bringing over dinner this afternoon so we're having whatever they bring. :goodvibes
