The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Welcome to the newcomers!

Vickie, my goodness what a day.

Glynis- Poor baby.

And Pie day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna have to make a pie tomorrow I think!

Got the Pioneer Woman cookbook today! Maybe she'll have a good pie to make for tomorrow.

Vickie -- I am so glad you are okay! I am excited you got the flights booked too. I don't know when Beck and I and the crew will be there, but we'll let you know if our dates overlap.

Michelle -- I consider it a victory that my kids don't like McDonalds food. They used to eat a lot more variety, but they have become pickier and our lives have become crazier. However, they are still the only kids in their pediatrician's practice who list spinach as one of their favorite vegetables.

I am signing off for the weekend. We are visiting Beck tomorrow, and Caili has a birthday party to attend on Sunday. I hope all of you NOLA ladies have a winning weekend. My sports viewing will be watching the US Figure Skating Championships. Mirai was wearing black and gold for her short program. I wonder if she is a Saints fan? Have a good weekend!

OMG! Our NOLA dinner was so fun! I wish all of you could have been there!

We were laughing so hard my face still hurts! I have pictures but I'm posting from my phone so I'll post them later.

Well, I'm happy to report that the barfing seems to be done! Hooray!!! Timothy has been asleep for 4 hours now. I'm really hoping that he'll sleep through the rest of the night. Poor little guy! I haven't checked his temperature for a while, but he's peaceful. I'm not about to wake him up to see if he's hot. If he's hot, he'll wake me up!

It was a really good thing we didn't go out. We got socked with a really bad snowstorm. It is really nasty out there, and people are being told to stay inside! It's supposed to blow over around 2:00 tomorrow morning, so Alan and I are all systems go for a midmorning date tomorrow.

I will wake up early tomorrow and put together a couple of pies (derby pie, and a low carb, low fat for Alan), and then we'll let Katie babysit.

She is spending the evening at a "late night" with some friends. I'm so glad!! She came home from school 3 days ago crying that her friends were ignoring her. I bullied her into talking to one of the girls and they were able to work it out. I'm so glad she decided to go to this thing tonight. She's with the girl she talked to and about 3 other girls. I just have to say that girl drama is making me tired! I hoped that it would bypass us, but no such luck!

Well, good night everyone, and thanks again for all the birthday wishes! You have made my day!!

Quick fly by on my way to bed....

Vickie - OMG what a day you had my girl.

Glynis - I sure hope Timothy is done and you both get a good night's sleep.

As Bethany said we had a great time tonight and I have a great group pic of our NOLA girls...maybe Bethany will post it before me, it'll probably take me a week to get it up.:upsidedow

Bethany & Kat, glad you girls had lots of laughter!

Merle, pies!!!!!! :cool1: Let us know how thet are.

Glynis, you have not gotten a break with sick kids.

Michelle & Laura, I get the award for the pickiest eater ever. Going to try to change that with DD.

Lauren, continued prayers for DB and house.

Maria, hope you got relief.

Vickie, what a day.:lmao: Glad you are ok.

Nancy, my DM has had both hips replaced and DD has had both knees done already. They are keeping this Dr. in business. My Dad lost his best childhood friend about five years ago during a routine surgery in which equipment malfunctioned caused his death. Since then Dad has been afraid. He did have his last knee replacement after we lost my Uncle but he had complications which scared him. All this has to do with why he was putting it off but the pain and all of us have convinced him.

Good morning everyone! I've missed out on so much but I've been too busy at work to check in. I've been lurking here and there when I could, so I've kept up pretty well with the goings on around here.

Welcome to our two newcomers Joanne and Michelle!

Maria - I hope you have gotten a dentist in Chicago and found some relief. Like Lauri, I can't wait for the stage mother stories.

Lauren - I'm with Kat, stock up on the alcohol now. ;) I hope this visit is less "exciting" than the last. Although her trip to the neighbors did give me a laugh.

Aimee - If this surgeon's surgery schedule works like his appointment schedule, it may be March before he gets to you. But my opinion is this. If you get there on Thursday and he wants to schedule you for the following week - TAKE IT! I know you have a lot scheduled, but the way you have been feeling, you may not feel up to any of it. Put your health first. Anyway, that's just one opinion from your pushy friend.

Ann - I'm glad your father is having the surgery. After he is healed it will be all worth it.

Glynis - I hope the sickness is finished at your house. Bless your heart.

Laura - I'm glad Caili found an acceptable substitute to her first, five-star choice. ;)

It looks like F&W will be full of WFD's again this year. Unfortunately we won't be there this year. Hopefully we'll make it next year. If I could talk Kenny into a weekend I would, but I think we're going to be house poor this year. We're still in the loan underwriting process, which takes longer since we are subbing the house ourselves, but it's still moving along. But maybe by the time Kenny slows down at work, we will have arrived at closing and he can start working on the house.

in!! I hope you visit the spots I sent you.

Bethany, of course we will have a mini meet......I really can't speak for Nancy & Marisa but I'm sure they will be in;)

Mini meet? I AM THERE! I am sorry i havent been around :( I have been kind of depressed at home not working. Being alone at home is not fun! I would love to meet up. I started driving again, so lets go!

I am planning on going to Disney in Oct, so if anyone else is going in Oct, facebook me! I would love to meet up!

I am going to Nan's for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is Buddy's birthday so we are having dinner there tonight. We are also celebrating Marsha Fiona's birthday. She is Kady's cabbage patch doll:rotfl:

Welcome back Marisa!

WFD - Dungeness crab and roasted potatoes, carrots, onions and spinach!

Good morning!

I still have to read back to comment. Even with the iPhone and the ability to read at work, I couldn't keep up the last few days. I'm busy at work! :confused3

I am working to upload the photos to Facebook now. I have not laughed so hard in a LONG time. My face and sides were hurting! :lmao: The food was good too. We will miss our friends that are moving to near WDW, but I can guarantee you they'll have a steady stream of friends visiting the area!

Kathy, Bethany Glad you had such a great time!

Gretchen Glad things are moving along with the house.

Marisa I am glad you got your wheels back. I don't think anyone would still like me without my independence.:rolleyes1 I get squirrely just having the car in for repairs.

Maria Did you get a hold of a dentist?

Tonight is baked ham mashed potatoes with green beens.

It is going to be a dark rainy day here. I choose this weekend of all weekends to clean carpets. :rolleyes1 But at least the house will smell nice.:thumbsup2

WFD- Penne w/ vodka sauce, going they a pork cutlet,a piece of beef, a piece of sausage in there...almost forgot garlic bread.

Quick post before we take off. Alan is taking me to lunch at Cafe Zupa's for soup and salad. It's still snowing, so that will taste good!

Timothy slept 13 hours last night. I put him down at 6 and he was up about 7:45. Poor little guy. He seems to be better. Fever is down, but now he's got a really runny nose. He's back down for a nap, now. I hope he'll sleep the whole time we're gone.

Don't know about dinner tonight. Maybe something pasta for the kids. I've got some raspberry/chipotle chicken sausages that Alan and I can have before we go for pie at the neighbors house.

Talk to you all later!

I am so happy to drive. I took Kady shopping last night and she loved that we were just walking around and going where we wanted because we could.

POOR BABY!!

Dinner tonight was hotdogs and baby carrots. Not gourmet or our choice but my little Zachy is just so miserable today. I feel so bad for him, today we had VIP tickets to Sesame St live which included a meet and great with Elmo. He was talking about this for weeks and he slept horribly last night and his nose and is just running non-stop. He was just so clingy to me and whiny and that's not like him at all. He wouldn't even go up to Elmo, just waved from my lap and finally gave him a hug at the end but then asked to leave before the show was over. So we let him pick dinner which of course he barely ate.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Glynis - I hope Timmy continues to feel better, and I hope you got to enjoy your birthday meal. You really have a thing for pies, don't you? :lmao:

I'm glad you all got a chuckle out of Caili's platinum tastes. She picked a much more reasonable family restaurant and had mac and cheese. Very sophisticated. For dessert, she had a hot fudge sundae, and the server put on three cherries. Caili was thrilled. The server probably was too because I left her a pretty good tip.

I'm glad that Caili got her dinner out and she enjoyed it. Sweet of the server to add extra cherries!

NOLA girls - im guessing your town is pretty insane this weekend and I couldnt think of a better bunch to be in the middle of it...

WHO DAT !!!

Funny auld day here,a door fell and hit me on top of ma head at work.:headache:
I also cut and bruise my thigh bad while running to help an old wifey lift a sofa.

Seriously, she was about 90 and I thought she was going to do herself a damage.

But no,dafty here was the one with the head first crash and a store full of folks staring as first aiders ran from all directions....embarrassed much... so thats it,the next auld goat is on her own.

My day did get better.........flights are booked baby !!!!! :yay::yay:

We went for the tampa flight, thanks for your input lassies, helped us decide.:thumbsup2

We will get the hotel sorted tomorrow,i think its SSR but I change my mind ever hour !!

So...October 8th- 22nd....who's all comin ??

Good Grief Vickie! Be careful out there girl! And yes, it is quite crazy this weekend.

Dinner tonight is smoked cornish hens, I need to go digging to figure the sides.
I had a GREAT time last night at dinner, finally meeting the NOLA ladies. I had met Sheryl, Lori (beadpirate) and another NOLA gal, Jenny in WDW is 2007, but is was great to finally get together with all the others.

Just wanted to let you girls know my DM just called. Dad is now on the surgeon's list to be done sometime in March. So glad he actually scheduled at first he was saying he was not going to have it.

I'm glad he scheduled it without much fight :goodvibes

Aimee- just read back and I wanted to wish you luck with your decisions. My husband is a gastroenterologist and I know how difficult and consuming those health issues are.

Man, I wish my DH was a GI! I'd save a TON of money :rotfl:

Thank you all for your good thoughts...we are out of attorney review. I think that is a good thing right? Tom texted about it so I am waitng to talk to him.

BBL to catch up more.

I think that's a good thing? :confused3

I forgot to tell you guys something...my Mom is coming Monday til friday...I think...start praying now...Just kidding! Last time she did not cause me an anxiety attack!

I'm glad she's coming for a visit!

I am off to contact my dentist & hope he can refer me to someone in Chicago, I broke a tooth & it is pounding.

Oh no. Did you get into one yet? I hate when you're out of town and something like that happens. :headache:

Vickie! I hope you are not too sore tomorrow

:yay: on booking flights!!!

I am going to Nan's for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is Buddy's birthday so we are having dinner there tonight. We are also celebrating Marsha Fiona's birthday. She is Kady's cabbage patch doll:rotfl:

Well of course Buddy needs to celebrate his birthday with Marsha Fiona! I'm sure he doesn't mind

I'm glad you are able to drive and get out and about. Being in the house for a long period of time is a quick way for me to get depressed.

Oh, I hope he isn't getting sick!

My retreat went well, I took LOTS of Vicodin and ate little but I don't think the kids caught on. Got home and promptly took a 3 hour nap. DH wasn't supposed to be home tonight, so I was going to just pick up something for myself tonight, but he's here and wondering what's for dinner :confused3 I told him he wasn't supposed to be here so he can figure that out - he's wandering the kitchen right now and perusing recipes online

So, dinner is TBD.

Aimee, so what did he find for dinner????

:cheer2: Good luck to our little WHO DAT nation we have here!:cheer2:

---------

WFD- I am doing Chinese...fried rice, boneless BBQ ribs, chicken wings, and egg rolls (these will be store bought).
