The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

That's OK, you have a lot going on right now.

PIO - Those sandwiches sound like a whole lot of work! $50-80pp  I can see why you would volunteer to host it. I bet it was a lot more fun too! I hope you're getting a much needed day to relax today!

Alison ~ I am totally enjoying your TR. I can't believe the wonderful sights you saw. Thanks so much for sharing. I am only on day 2 so I have a ways to go. But I am loving it!!

Well you have a LOT more interesting fun to get through then! I'm hoping to put up an installment from what I think might be Day 5 now.

I hope you were able to get over to the school by now. I'm just getting going.

WFD? :confused3 I'm still working out lunch!

Morning all.

I've got a massage and chiro adjustment planned today. And we've got chauffeuring duties this afternoon. DH and I decided take-away dinner will be in order for tonight. We haven't decided what we'll have yet. But I don't have to cook. :thumbsup2

So my program of work launched this week and it went very very well. Feeling relieved and looking forward to a very quiet and lazy day today.....with time on the Dis.

Have a great one all.

Hello everyone! :wave2:

Cannot believe it's Wednesday already! We're in countdown mode here till DD's first birthday! Where did the time go? :confused3 We have quite a few family members flying in to help celebrate her day and also to celebrate my brother in law's graduation. Should be a great memorial day weekend. I am still finalizing menus and making Costco shopping lists. Hoping for great weather! :cool1:

WFDT - "Ugly" Costco pasta, garlic bread and Caesar salad.

Morning everybody!

pigletgirl ~ Sounds like fun. I just can't believe it is almost Memorial Day.

Kimmar ~ dinner sounds good.......was it?

PIO ~ Congratulations on the launch of your project. Enjoy your day!! You so deserve it.

Alison ~ Hopefully today I can get over to your TR. I have really enjoyed it.

It froze last night. Doug and I covered everything we could and brought in the rest. I can't believe it is still freezing here. Usually by this time I have all of my plants out. My kids always give me plants for Mother's day. Thank goodness I haven't planted any yet. All that is up are the perennials and they are pretty hardy. They look so nice this year so of course it froze but I really think they will be alright.

Doug found a baby kitty last night wondering around. We watched for a few hours and no Momma claimed it. So we put it on the back porch in a warm blanket so it wouldn't freeze. This morning it was still on the back porch but not on or in the blanket so he brought it in. He is going to bottle feed it and we are going to find a home for it. She is so cute, perfectly white except a black spot on the top of her head. We have named her "Smudge". She won't eat or drink from a bowl yet but I do think she is real close. I would say probably 6 weeks. Oh my she is a cutie..........I WILL NOT GET ATTACHED, I WILL NOT GET ATTACHED.

WFDT ~ Pineapple brats, sweet potato fries and cottage cheese with peaches.

Make it a great day.

....yes they were....never any leftovers when I make pasta and meatballs...

Ellen - Is it too late? :goodvibes I bet it's a sweet kitten!

WFDT? - Curry Chicken Salad, fruit and chips

It's almost Friday!! :)

We're having pan fried Cod with veggies from my garden. I made a summer salad with the cucumbers and I'm going to steam the yellow squash.

Yay for the garden!

...can't wait to get veggies from our garden....not till July probably.....:confused3

Have you been able to plant yet? We put ours in during February when it was clear we wouldn't be having a winter this year.

Well at least you're up and going! I have a feeling that we are going to be overloaded with veggies in the near future.

And we're going to WDW!

YUM!

I put some winter vegies down. I'm hoping for snow peas, celery, carrots and maybe some cauliflower and cabbage. I need to dust the cauliflower and cabbage with something. They are looking a bit chewed.

Ellen - Good for you looking after that kitten. Are you going to keep the smudge?

pigletgirl - Sounds like you are planning a big celebration for the 1st birthday. Hope you have great weather!

Happy Friday girls,

I have news about Smudge. There is a very special lady in our Church named June. Her cat was hit by a car about 3 weeks ago. She was devastated. I talked to her yesterday if maybe she would like our kitty. She said yes and is so excited for Smudge to come live with her and has said that she will be an inside cat - no more going outside and maybe get hit. We are going to keep her until she is eating from a bowl, using the litter box (which I saw her use last night) and is just a bit bigger. Doug is taking her to the Vet today to make sure all is okay. I don't want to give her to June if there is something wrong. She is a completely different woman knowing Smudge (we explained the name and she loved it) is going to come to live with her. Her daughter and I are good friends and she is so thankful for this bit of sunshine in her Moms world (her husband passed a year ago). So we are thrilled that Smudge is going to a great home - she is a sweetie.

Alison ~ I am so jealous of your garden. Thank goodness we haven't planted a thing yet as it is still freezing here. We dropped yesterday morning to 28. I really think next week we will be past any frost so maybe we will get a few things in. Your yellow squash looked amazing. YUM!

Kimmar ~ I so agree. I can't wait for the first warm tomato - I usually take the salt shaker with me and eat them right in the garden.

PIO ~ I forget you are just getting into winter.

pigletgirl~ your celebration sounds like so much fun. They only turn 1 once.

Well last nights dinner didn't work out. I completely forgot it was Golf night. Yep, it has started and I am now a golf widow. :rotfl2: When I got home Doug was just getting ready to leave...........I forgot all about it. So I ended up with an egg sandwich. My usual go to Thursday night go to meal for me. YUM!!

Tonight we are getting hair cuts and then going grocery shopping at a wonderful new grocery store. Dinner will be hopefully Applebees. I just love that place and can get a WW meal. So I can still stay on track. I am sure we will go see Lilly. You don't think we can be that close and not go play right??!! :cool1:

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend.

It's FRIDAY!! :cool1:

More prepping to come this weekend. I need to brave Costco tomorrow () and get things together.

But tonight, DH and I are having a date night. We're headed out to dinner and then the movies! Seeing Spiderman. I'm excited to have some alone time with DH!

Ellen - So glad that Smudge has found a home. Hope everything works out for the kitty and her new owner.

Pigletgirl -Good luck with the Costco run.

We're out and about this weekend. Seems like chauffeuring duties are at a premium here. Catch y'all sometime.
