The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Nan, Thanks my friend! You'll know I'll call you if I need you! :goodvibes

scotlass, I love that you can type with an accent!! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the love from fae ower the water!!! :goodvibes The procedure DD was looking into is fairly new, so it's covered by some insurances & not others. :confused3

Gina, You've made me jealous again of your Aerogarden!! Do you have to buy special seeds from the maker or do you use any kind? I really want one!

p.s. I think I forgot about dinner. I'm making a chicken stock with the leftover bird, that I'm going to turn into a Lemon Chicken Spinach Orzo soup. Might just get to the stock today though, we have plenty of pot pie left. Oh the chicken recipe comes from my friend Ms Marigny on the NOLA thread. It sounds yummy, I'll let y'all know once I've gotten it done.

Sheryl -- I am sorry your daughter is dealing with so much all at once. Count me in among those who are here for you so you can be strong for her.

So....how did AI go last night ?

I'm glad your boy is feeling better today.

The three voted in were Jorge, Scott and Lil Rounds. The judges also selected eight contestants to compete tonight in the Wild Card round. They are Megan, Tatiana, Jessie, Jasmine, Ricky, Von, Anoop and one more guy...hmm, I forget the last person.

Okay, I looked it up and it is Matt Giraud. I forgot him because I can't believe they picked him after he butchered Coldplay!

And just to really confuse you, we have to have emmisions testing and renew our tags every other year.

We have to do inspection yearly (emissions related) and tags every year. The tags are about $70 and inspection varies by county - in the metroplex, it's $35ish but when we lived in a smaller city, it was only $12.

The most likely short term option is to find an apartment to sublet.

Sounds like a good plan!

They did tell his daughter, she is 8 or 9 (I have 12 neices and nephews and cannot keep track of ages - she is a third grader), and seems to be handling it OK. She looks forward to making Daddy his special food which includes juicing.

:sad1:

If it is managed by a big rental company, they won't even notice that you haven't signed a lease if you keep sending in your rent check. If it is privately owned, speak to the owner and see if you can just be month-to-month and say you will give at least a month's notice before moving.

I didn't think of that before. Our rental house while I was in grad school required a 1 year lease and after that, it was month by month - no lease. He just required a month's notice before leaving. My dad's apt will do month to month with additional rent. Might be worth asking about as well and avoid the whole lease thing.

News on DD was not good. Her Dr's visit did not go well. The nucleoplasty is not covered at all by her insurance! It would be less invasive & easier recovery, but she would need this other painful test to know if she was even a candidate. She also hadn't told me, but she has been having arm pain the last 2 weeks! :sad1: So now she will need an MRI of her neck too! I think she is really upset & trying not to let me know. AND She also just informed me that she might be getting laid off! She's known a while & hasn't said anything to us, so we wouldn't worry.:sad1:

I am mexican food'd out. I had Mexican for lunch Monday, dinner Monday, lunch Wed, lunch today, and dinner tonight. It's good and all but I'm tired of it.

I don't think I've cooked a meal in over 2 weeks :confused3

The wedding plans are going well...I found my dress last month..YAY! i love it! I am on ww and working out a lot more and have lost 9 lbs so far..my goal is to lose at least 35 before the big day..so its slow and steady! We just ordered our save the dates though so i am excited about that!!

Gina, You've made me jealous again of your Aerogarden!! Do you have to buy special seeds from the maker or do you use any kind? I really want one!
e.
heehee..i love that thing..i highly reccomend it!!!! Actually we did buy the green leaf kit ( actually got it at CHristmas from my mom) BUT you can buy your own seeds and use their little nutrient pods to grow just about anything as well. We have yet to try that..but i am thinking of doing peppers that way after the lettuce is done!

Y'all have been quite chatty today, sorry if I missed anyone, kinda tried to catch up quickly. :guilty:

I had Alex believing I could read his mind and could see through walls when he was little. :rolleyes1 He had to verify with my step mom, good thing she backed me up ;)

Sheryl Can you ask for a review so your daughter can get the procedure approved? Depending on the company you can appeal before the procedure instead of after it is done. Let me know if I can help you out.

Gina I thought of you this weekend. We were in Target and they had the Aerogarden things on sale 50% off.

I didn't understand last nights AI did where those the only people that made it. I really liked the guy that sang Hey there Deliah, even though I don't like that song by the original artist.

Hi all, I have been a bit of a lurkyloo today. Just wanted to check in and
sends hugs out to  Sheryl's family, Lauren, and  Scotlass's boy. If I missed anyone else please forgive me. I am a bit rejuvenated now after we got a 3 hour nap. DS had been up since 3:30am and would not go back to bed. Other than a little lack of sleep we (the baby & I ) are feeling great.

DH is off tonight, so we are sitting here DISing listening to DISradio in preparation for our upcoming trip... 22 days!!:cool1: :cool1:

Lauren, I hope your DS enjoy's his early birthday supper! What a nice birthday gift to get a beautiful baby brother!!!

Ann

Merle- we do the every other year emissions too, and the sales tax. The excise tax is every year, just for fun. I guess if that's the worst thing I have to complain about I'm pretty darn lucky.

I shouldn't be talking about this excise tax, our governor might get a bright idea in his head! :scared:

We have to do inspection yearly (emissions related) and tags every year. The tags are about $70 and inspection varies by county - in the metroplex, it's $35ish but when we lived in a smaller city, it was only $12.

Our emissions testing cost $14, I usually pay $29 cause I forget to get the stupid thing done on time! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Tags are $190 for my van. I pay an extra $10 because I have agricultural plates, they are special plates that benefit the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation. My grandpa was a farmer so I had to have them. :) We also have ones that benefit the Chesapeake Bay Trust.

Don't know what is for dinner tonight, forgot to take something out of the freezer. I really want to get something out but I can't! :rotfl: This is why I gave it up for Lent.

Personal stuff: We finally have a home care aide coming out to talk with us tonight. DH said she sounded good on the phone, so we'll see.

News on DD was not good. Her Dr's visit did not go well. The nucleoplasty is not covered at all by her insurance! It would be less invasive & easier recovery, but she would need this other painful test to know if she was even a candidate. How'd the home health aide visit go?

 and pixiedust: for your DD. That is a lot to go through, especially all at once.

scotlass, I love that you can type with an accent!! :thumbsup2

You say this as if you can't....:rolleyes1 Doesn't anybody ELSE remember Thibodaux and Blancaneaux and the Cajun Showdown? Or whatever that mess was... :lmao: :rotfl2:

So I called the management office again; still no answer but she was muttering that "she thought that got approved"...then realized that was some other person's request (for I don't know what)....but at least there's some glimmer of hope! :upsidedow

I had another kid say he wanted to kill himself today. This is getting crazy. Seventy-two more days, not that I'm counting or anything. :rolleyes1

Bethany  Poor kids that think dying is the answer.:sad1:

Ann I am glad you are feeling better.

Oh I forgot to mention luckily it has warmed up around here cause someone is going to be spending time in the garage. Yes I had to pick up his germs :confused3

:lmao: I hope you feel better.

And I heard about the weather. It was 42! today and it's going to be in the 60s on Saturday!! :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2: :woohoo:

AND on Saturday I might get to go to COSTCO!!! And I WON'T buy too much....I CAN'T!!! I don't want to move 47 rolls of paper towels. :lmao:

And NEXT Saturday I'm subbing for somebody for Saturday School  but then after work we are having an NYC meet up for people from a different forum I'm on. That should be fun!

I vaguely remember a cajun standoff......:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That has got to be the saddest thing to hear a kid say that he wants to kill himself, I cannot imagine that.

It was much warmer today, I hope it lasts. Can you post a pic of your dress?

Standoff...showdown....whatever....:rotfl2: All that, er, dat for a po'boy. I want one now though. :headache:

Yeah I was not in the room at the time; it was my prep and when I came back, a bunch of kids ran up to me and were all upset because of what he had said. :sad2:

Just an FYI, I am now giving up breaded chicken for the rest of Lent! :sad2:

Hey! I cannot sleep but cannot concentrate to catch up either. Just wanted to come on and give Sheryl lots of    . I will keep you and your family in my prayers...
