Bethany- there is never a dull moment in your life...
Boring is SO underrated.
The safety notice that was due like 3 weeks ago....geez it was due the day I flew out to New Orleans...anyways it's about how if you have kids you're supposed to have safety bars on your windows and you are not supposed to eat the paint chips or lick the walls.
My DH got the radiator to stop leaking ... by turning it OFF. So yeah, no heat in that room anymore.
So here's the deal with the landlord....(sorry, kinda long)
I need them to extend the lease from April 30 to June 30 and so far they are not budging. I have not gotten official word yet; if they extend to June 30 then I'll go that route, then move June 30, probably to Louisiana, but I need a job first. It's still pretty early in the hiring time line for fall.
Until I hear official word from the landlord, my options for this lease are as follows:
-Move out on April 30 (current lease end date) and find some sort of temporary housing for two months.
-Move out and leave the state on April 30. This would mean quitting work early; it would affect my employment history and my summer pay. (BAD, yet tempting!, OPTION)
-Stay past April 30; don't renew the lease and just stay and then leave June 30. Technically this is not legal and is grounds for eviction, according to my current lease. The risk would be seeing how long it takes them to begin the proceedings and it's basically "buying time". This is also a BAD OPTION, because having an eviction on your record is bad for future housing.
-Renew lease for a year, then break the lease at the end of June. This would mean I'd lose my security deposit, which is the same as my current monthly rent, plus whatever interest it has earned since April 2005. (They are supposed to keep the deposit in an interest-bearing savings account).
-Renew the lease for a year, attempt to break lease, and have them deny the termination (the lady told me they have not been allowing lease breaking lately). The penalty for doing this is being responsible for finding a replacement tenant (they won't advertise an apt that has a lease out on it I guess) and being responsible for paying the monthly rent until you find a replacement tenant and they move in on their own lease OR your lease term ends. (BAD OPTION ...very expensive.)
Aimee- When I find out what an excise tax is, I'll let you know. As far as I can tell, it's $500 (total for our 2 cars) that I would have been more than happy to save for a rainy day. We are taxed $25 per $1000 of your cars value. Fortunatly, I really think they under evaluate. I almost threw up last year after we bought my husbands brand new truck. The amount drops quickly, but it's still stupid. Thank you for giving me a reason to whine about it more.
Good grief. What is WITH these northeast states and the taxes? How is a car normally taxed, anyways? Is that tax on top of sales tax for a car?

I have no idea but I think I'm going to need to buy a car this summer.
I will definitely pray for your daughter. I don't think I ever congratulated you on your good news yesterday! Let's hope that trend continues!
I forgot to mention this also, Sheryl. I know when I read it I commented on it in my mind, but I think the message got lost somewhere before getting posted! That seems to happen to me a lot!
Oooohh...Saturday is coming fast for Bean!!
...now if it can just hurry itself up for the rest of us, too!
