The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

I didn't even realize you're supposed to eat fish on Good Friday but I scheduled seafood kabobs just randomly for dinner tonight.

Last night we had burgers, real burgers with a bun and everything. My doctor is a fool. She says.that after you eat on a plan the food you used to eat doesn't taste good any more. That's not true for me. That burger was sooooooo good. I ate the whole thing!

Tonight will be swordfish kabobs cooked on the.grill.

It is not going to change over night, but mine have definitely changed. Things do not taste as good as I think they do and I just dont crave them anymore.

Happy Good Friday my friends,

Brandi ~ I really do agree with you. And I also think - do I really want to waste my calories. Sometimes I go ahead and eat it and don't regret it one bit, but more times I really don't want it. The commercials sometimes just make me sick of all the grease and yuck. It really is funny how your tastes change.

Alison ~ I am so proud of you, you are doing a great job. And I totally understand about the hamburger. I got 6 burgers in my last order and I had one a couple of nights ago, it was so good.

Kimmar ~ You just crack me up. You are so right!!

PIO ~ You are getting cooler and we are dreaming of Spring. It always just blows my mind. I have been to your lovely part of the world and do so love it.

I am off today at noon. I have everything ready to go for tonight. Doug and I are boycotting our service tonight. Pastor Dyton is not here (their first grandson was born - by caesarean - this morning. We have a visiting lay person tonight. I did his bulletin and it is 8 pages - YEP - you read that right 8 pages. Needless to say I am NOT sitting through that. Besides Matthew and Katlin are coming in tonight and staying with Marty and Stephanie, so we have all decided to go to the Methodist church with them in Kearney. I am kind of excited to be able to go and actually enjoy it without someone needing/wanting something. I am so mean!!

I hope you all have a wonderful blessed Easter.

Ellen, I hope you have a blessed Easter also, and enjoy your service and family.

Tonight is black bean burgers for us, and no bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumbers, and bell peppers

So I really dont do a whole lot of low carb. I eat potatoes (Sweet and white) but mostly I eat a mixture of fresh and cooked veggies (a pound of each a day), at least a cup of beans a day, a handful of nuts a day, at least 4 pieces of fruit a day.

We eat a lot of spinach, kale, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, carrots, celery, hummus, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, snap peas,

I roast them, grill them, saute them (Without oil). I have a "Cheese" sauce that David really likes and pours it over the veggies sometimes to change it up.

http://www.cookingwithplants.com/recipe/vegan-paprika-cheese-without-nuts-soy/ I just skip the last step as the thickener, we have made as a black cheese before and it is really kind of cool, we did grill cheese and tomato soup with it that way. It melts and everything.

I am not sure what you really are looking for?

Thanks. I need to look up more recipes with vegies. My problem is that DH and I are happy to eat more vegies; but with DS in the house, I do add meat and more carbs to the weekly rotation. Once I see them, all my good intentions go out the window!

About the only thing that has changed for me is sugar and chocolate cravings. I don't crave them anymore and can't eat them the way I used to.

If you need something to read one day look at a book called the Starch Solution.

Last night was Egg Fu Yung. And before that we ate swordfish kebabs. Tonight will be steak, roasted potatoes and green beans.

We had take-out fried rice tonight. *hangs head in shame*. I really haven't been organised with my meal planning and shopping at all.

last night was stir fry here. i added shrimp to David's. broccoli, asparagus, carrot, garlic, green onions, and ginger. I added a little chili garlic sauce.

The long weekend comes to an end and it's going to be tough to be back at work tomorrow. This weekend, I managed to complete most of the weeding in the garden. I also managed to get some fertiliser stuff (dynamic lifter and blood and bone) down into the garden beds. They are promising us rainy weather for the next 2 days and I figure that if I get the fertiliser down, the rain will start the soil refresh process. I'm hoping to be able to plant some winter vegetables in a couple of weeks. It'll be less planting space than winter as a couple of the flower beds will not get as much sun in winter and I've learnt from experience not to bother planting vegies in those beds. I might go looking for some cheerful flowering annuals instead.

WFDT? I'm making shrimp risotto for dinner. I've got some dill and spinach to add to the risotto as well.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning everyone.

Happy Monday. It is promising to be 70 degrees here today! I am really excited about that and with bright sunshine.

For dinner last night we had Asparagus roasted with some lemon pepper and fresh squeezed lemon on top, some quinoa with a little garlic and a little salt, fresh cucumbers, and fresh bell peppers sliced up, David had some salmon with his that he grilled.

This was a busy weekend for us also, just doing things around the house and for the non profit group.

Hope everyone has a great day
